"Right away - without practicing" Very wise precautionary words. And like driving - it takes practice and the ability to see what is ahead of you. (14:Min), Thanks for helping all of us on our various levels of experience and journeys. At 60+ I can agree 100% , practice is essential.

i've been waiting for YEARS for instruction on embroidery using a 'regular' sewing machine. i want complete control in order to express my original designs. Christopher Nejman's teaching techniques are truly excellent as he combines great design examples with CLEAR language about what he is doing step by step. I can't wait to see ALL OF YOUR VIDEOS Christopher because they are not the usual "crafty" cheap looking ( disposable) stuff. Apologies to crafters, but executing your own precious work is a different matter.

Well worth the watch. I typically don't watch 40+ minutes videos on sewing, but this 40 minute video taught me more than the years my mother spent teaching me (sorry mom). I feel like I've just stepped out a university class after watching this video. His advice is really solid, I had flimsy wooden embroidery hoop in my amazon cart and after watching this I realize I will need something stronger.

Thanks for sharing your talent with us. I have had 3 expensive sewing machines, and I gave them to my daughter. Now, I am using an inexpensive electronic model and didn't believe that I would ever be able to do free motion embroidery. Now, I know that I can and am anxious to try it. Again, thank you so much for sharing your talents.

Well, as a florist I can appreciate the passion you have for what you are doing. I have that passion for weddings. Due to the economy being the way it is there are not many jobs out in my field and my 2nd passion always has been sewing and knitting. So this is what I am doing now. The flowers with the "fuzzies" are the Dandelions. I love your videos and I am going to build a worktable around my sewing machine. Your videos are great. I bet your wife loves what you do.

sarahleah hankes All the tips are very important. That ergonomic tip is really important too. I did as he said and practised and it sunk in really quick why. Even the sounds he said to listen to was very key to my fast progress. What got me hooked was when he mentioned in other countries they use really old singers. I looked right over at my 1893 singer in the treadle base and said to myself, ok I will try this!! I tried and watched the video again and picked up more tips that I forgot.

The tip with the twill on the inside hoop is great! I didn't have twill tape but tons of scrap fabric. Some of them don't really frey, I've cut it in longer strips, wrapped my 3 (different sized) hoops and glued it at the end with a tiny drop of glue. Awesome! I don't have an embroidery foot. I embroider the way I found in a very very old singer booklet : take off the presser foot and the holder (in my case a snap on), make sure the feet in the bottom are down and off you go 😊
