This video will show you how to become a freelancer, but not just any freelancer, a highly successful one. With awesome tips for beginner and intermediate freelancers, I will show you what it takes to totally crush it on freelance platforms.
I'm speaking from the role of graphic designer, but of course these tips can be applied to anyone who wants to get active on places like Fiverr, UpWork, PeoplePerHour and so on. You don't need to be a graphic designer to make sense of this video and the tips on how to become a freelancer.
Freelancing is a lot about status and appearance. Your profile on places like UpWork needs to be up to scratch and above par. We talk about the badges and tier systems, proposals and a lot lot more. If you apply everything in todays video and actively put the time and effort in, you will surely become a profitable freelancer who makes a lot of money.

Hi, Tom. Very informative and helpful videos you create. Thanks a lot! Please, could you in one of the next videos tell us more about the brand identity. Namely : brandbook, logbook, guideline with examples if possible. Of course, I understand that it is created individually, a lot of very features, depends on the type of company (business area), company size and other factors. Response time for other freelance designers also holds the same when trying to get clients. Trying to get potential clients to just communicate back is just horrible these days. So yeah, when that happened, it's a red flag to not work with them

thank you for the lesson, this really helped me, it's just that on Fiverr I had problems with Timezone, most of the clients on Fiverr were Americans or Europeans , so at midnight here is noon at America, this sometimes makes it difficult for me to get a good response time

Thanks for the video! What I found almost impossible is to get clients if you don't have any rating stars but then you can get any stars because you can get client to rate you.... Just like you said, that the first thing you look, so the people you have more clients/stars are the one's that will keep getting more and more! What can you do about that!?

It's true, but you need to work up the ladder. You will likely have to work for the bottom run clients who pay little and don't expect amazing work in the first place.

Hi Tom, I love how much effort you put into your content. Like many, many other people, I truly value and support your work. There’s a question that’s been going on in my mind that I’ve been hesitant to ask. If it’s alright with you, I would like to ask that question respectfully. Here : Your logo is clean, minimal and looks nice. However, I can’t help but be reminded of Squarespace every time I look at it. Is that alright in logo design? Could you educate me on how it’s alright to have similarities ? Thanks again. I will probably delete this in few days because I don’t want any negative comments bothering you. But it would be great if I get any answer before that. Love and respect. Always.

Thanks for the comment. Here's the run down about that logo. Firstly I rarely ever use it and Satori Graphics is more linked back to a brand identity rather than having a logo as part of the branding system. After I designed it, I was informed that it looks a bit like the Skillshare logo. To an extent this is true, but it isn't a copy and it shares slight similarities. It was annoying to realise this after I had designed it and hadn't taken the Skillshare logo into consideration. There is actually a 3rd logo out there from a different brand that also looks similar to Skillshare and also my logo. This kind of thing happens often because you need to consider how many logos exist in this day and age. It's almost impossible to make anything original without it looking similar to something else. If by accident or not. I may go ahead and redesign it at some point, but like I said, I don't really ever use a logo. My profile picture is more of an icon within social media for Satori Graphics, along with font choice and colour scheme. Edit: After doing some research into it, there are many logos that look similar, which just backs up what I said above. The Shazam logo The British Steel logo Skillshare logo - so yeah I will get around to redesigning it at some point.

You need to start at the bottom, and take on projects that do not pay much at all. You also need a portfolio of work, even if it's design competition entires or fictitious briefs

It's all about marketing. A brand can make the best perfume but if they don't market it, nobody will buy it. On the flip side, in the 70s pet rocks were being sold. People were mad about a rock that was packaged in a box as a pet. Why? Because of marketing

Imagine charging 17 bucks for a logo. These freelance sites are a boon to the third world that can compete on ridiculous prices. For everyone else, it is impossible to survive on.
