This is a simple minimalistic watercolour seascape. It was painted straight onto the desk with no tape. Only a few colours and with very little detail. The painting that was done during the music was mostly dry brush work in the foreground. Hope you enjoy this simple watercolour. I really need to get to the coast soon on a stormy day to get some more of that emotive response to the landscape that drives me to paint!

Rives BFK etching paper. Probably best to source this from your local store so you can look after the paper and not have it posted unless you are buying a large amount of paper and it will be looked after. There is nothing worse than getting hundreds of sheets all with a indent in them. Having said that you can actually source this paper from amazon:

Some people have been extremely happy with the state of the paper when it arrived (and some not!)
I love this paper it is soft and lights are lifted easily from it.

I see the northern lights in the water. The teal turquoise looks stunning. Very dreamy. Peaceful.

Hi Carol! Yes i do love a bit of cobalt turquoise light! Such an amazing colour and it can push almost any other colour out of the way when applied with some strength!

I love this!😊 It has a really dreamy/misty quality to it, enhanced by the beautiful colours you've used. I particularly love the middle part of the sky which looks like a delicate lavender, between the darker blue & the Cerulean blue! Thanks so much for sharing Scott🦋🌺🌿

Hi Angela! It is a pretty simple painting in many ways! That middle bit that is almost lavender is because I used the mix of cobalt blue and light red and there was a fair bit of water on the page which led to the pigments separating which give you that warm colour. It is lovely! Thanks for watching! Cheers Scott

Hi L.M Abstract Art! Yes watercolours can be pretty difficult to begin with until you get to know them and befriend the paints, paper and brushes. Once you know them then you can really do some pretty cool things and can look at a landscape and start to work out in your head the order of operation and the different techniques you could use to produce the end result. Keep going watercolour rewards persistence and consistence!

Thanks Janice! Simple but still lovely to just paint without too much pre or techniques. You could paint like this au plein air. I am really looking forward to doing more of that in the future! Cheers Scott

Oh my this is one of my favorites!!! Absolutely gorgeous!! And I'm in shock at how the paper didn't even need to be taped and did SO good! But, I have to use cheaper paper so thats probably why I'm so shocked!! I hope to get a hake brush one day as well. But I love the colors, right up my alley, and how it moves. May I ask, is it just a glass table to paint on and use to mix your colors? Just fascinating! Also (sorry for the questions) I see you have your watercolor in like ceramic (just a guess) bowls...so do you just add tube paint and water to always have you favorites ready? And then rewet to use again? I do love the idea of the bowls because pans are obviously way to small for my larger brushes...and I'll put tube colors out on an old white plate, but sometimes when I need it wetter its hard as it just goes everywhere. So the bowls are nice :) I just paint in my tiny dining room so might not have space for a bunch of bowls, but I'll have to find a way because I love the looseness you can get without having to hurry and mix up some watery paint! So beautiful! I'm not able to paint as much as I'd like due to some serious health issues that don't allow me to move sometimes...but I love being able to watch your, and so many others, videos to always stay blown away by beauty and stay inspired and it helps so much to keep my thinking positive and just looking forward to the good days when I can move :) Thank you so much for that!!!!

Hi jaded enthusiasms! I’ll answer each question one at a time. The desk top is aligloss composite panel from Bunnings in Australia. It is white on one side and black on the other. It’s great for mixing paints on!

@@ScottSwinson yea, sorry for all the questions 😳 but thank you for the info on the glass though. I've no clue if there's something like that here, probably not in my very small town :) but I like glass you my acrylic pallette, easy to clean off. So I'll figure something out maybe, one day, for a larger table top that can do it all :) And maybe a thrift shop for just medium sized ceramic bowls here and there would work. We'll see. But, no matter what, this painting is gorgeous ;) Thanks again ;) And its just Jade :) I'd wanted to do.my own channel and blog about my chronic pain and how much learning some art has helped and I am jaded from a young life of...well, just a lot...but, I get excited about art and the beauty and focus and happiness it give me and in many forms...so I get enthusiastic about things too...hence the name :/ probably dumb, but I liked it :/ :)

Hi, love your paintings and tutorials. Can you explain the blues and reds that you have mixed in your bowls, think there are two different mixes? And why them particular colour combinations ? Thanks
@ScottSwinson
@ScottSwinson 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Sue, the man who taught me from a young age (Tony Smibert) introduced me to those two colour mixes (Cobalt Blue and Light Red) and Winsor Blue (red shade) and Light Red and I have been using them ever since! I am sure there are many other greys that you could produce using other blues and reds. I just really like those colours and so have them pre-mixed in a bowl ready to go. Cheers Scott
