When I get home from shopping every week, I fill my sink with water and vinegar. As I unload my bags, I just drop my produce in the sink to soak until I'm done with everything else. And then I process and store it immediately. Then everything is clean and instantly consumable for my family.

I just can’t…with all the nasty food bits and who knows what that go through my sink on the daily, plus the hard water, the gunk that I know resides in the drain, even when I try to clean it… 🤣 Do you sanitize your sink first?

@@kristinanoall you could buy a wash tub from Dollar Tree to use for produce washing. That is what I do.

@@kristinanoall yes, I sanitize it first. I will Scrub it out with a bleach based cleaner like Soft Scrub. Then, rinse with scalding water. Then clean with a fresh dishcloth and an all purpose cleaner like Meyer's. Then I dry the sink with a clean dry tea towel. My stopper is always washed and resides in my dish rack to keep it free from mildew. And I always clean all dishes, loading into my dishwasher, before I clean the sink. The point is to ensure my sink is completely free from particles and debris before I wash my produce.

@@hannahkayee831 my only deviation on this is that I don't wash my leafy greens right away. I follow the same procedure with my salad spinner when I prepare my greens for consumption, and only on the day we plan to eat them. I drain them off after every spin, and I do at least 3 spin cycles with them. I also place a clean dry tea towel or paper towel on top when I spin to help absorb excess moisture.

I'm in Atlanta and we do cornbread with and without sugar... it depends on what the cornbread is going with... if we're having it with green or black eyed peas or something that we're going to use the bread to soop up the juice with it needs to be a more savory bread and if we're frying chicken or pork chops or something dry and the cornbreads a side by itself then we make it sweet

I also put chopped celery in the freezer and it is also one of my favorite freezer hacks. I also do the same thing with green onions and it works absolutely fine but it seems like it wouldn't. I feel sneaky every time I do it, and then I can pull them out to sprinkle on top of things for just a minute in the oven, like cheese fries or nachos. It also works well for soups, or to throw into ramen, and it looks so fancy, like I have my life together or something. Although someone on reddit once yelled at me in a meal prep community about how using frozen celery and carrots is an abomination that they wouldn't serve to their dog or worst enemy, so I guess there's that. ;)

I am personally very, very anti sugar in cornbread and I grew up just south of Atlanta and am still in the south. Some people make it a little sweet though for certain things, but it’s never been for me. I always hated all of the prepackaged corn muffin mixes because they were sweet! According to my grandmothers, all cornbread needs to be is self-rising cornmeal, salted butter, and buttermilk.

I do it with almost everything! Get scratch n dent peppers, onions, cabbage, carrots, celery, radishes, spinach, beets, turnip/rutabaga. Peel and cut away anything you wouldn't eat. Chop the veggies you would like chopped. Grate the others. I also do fresh zucchini, radishes, and whatever I feel like, grated. I 'mold' the grated stuff into a small bowl or sour cream container in one or two cup measurements and plunk it onto a pan prepared with the plastic from the cereal boxes, (to keep from sticking) that'll go in the freezer. Later i transfer to freezer Tupperware or freezer bags, labeled and dated. I throw these veggiesicles into soups, casseroles, muffins, stirfries. I also freeze a lot of fruit if I'm not using it fast enough, including melons and segmented oranges, for smoothies.

I'm in Alabama. I grew up eating cornbread without sugar but I put in my cornbread. My kids love it.

Where have I been? I never knew you could freeze celery...thanks so much , def going to be doing that right away! Totally enjoyed watching this, course I always do! I could never have enough cherries left over to actually bake with them, one of my favorite fruits especially if it comes from the Okanagan in British Columbia, honestly they taste like candy, so good! Thanks for sharing!

You are so fun to watch! So witty , I love it you crack me up😆 I am from Utah so I like sugar in my cornbread, but I have lived in Tennessee now for 21 years and people here say a BIG fat NO to sugar in cornbread! Just lots and lots of butter🤷🤦

that cherry crisp looks sooo delicious!! I just discovered I liked cherries a couple years ago, always thought the fresh ones would taste like the maraschino ones that I despise...I cannot wait to make this!

Hey there, I'm in Alabama and I do put a small amount of sugar in my cornbread if it is buttermilk mix. It can be a little bitter otherwise. But I don't like it super sweet. Love your video's they are super helpful and fun to watch!
