If you're doing a fluid change aren't you supposed to drain the fluid from the bottom of the power steering pump housing? If you only suck it out of the reservoir you're going to add fresh new fluid to all the old stuff that's still in the pump right?
@jerometaylor554 Жыл бұрын
Right, that’s how I was told to drain it.

That's what the manuel for my Columbia says. Plus, I'd be careful spraying brake cleaner on plastic. If that stuff gets to those o-rings or thin seals it could cause it to swell.

Is it not Better to drain?

No sir try pulling the tube off is very difficult its a hard plastic feel but it's rubber and that joint dont budge. I did my last truck and ended up buying new hoses from damaging them trying to drain..

Sounds like you may need your ok pump replaced or rebuilt.. but you can start there

How often you change the filter?
@CheddarCheeseBandit Жыл бұрын
Once every 5 years or 300-500k miles. It’s not like engine oil with combustion, it’s a closed system like a rear end gearbox or transmission. So it depends on how you use the truck. Logging and dump trucks, or heavy haul may need sooner.

That’s not the proper way of doing the power steering oil change on the DD15. The official instructions are in the Freightliner Maintenance Manual.
@keyboard1011014 жыл бұрын
The Reviewer care to explain the proper way of doing it.?

No your right but if you want to save money without replacing your hoses this is key.. u may get lucky by draining but from experience I broke hoses because the hose are so hard to pull off they end of breaking
