Speaking of "Les anglais débarquent", the verb "débarquer" mostly speaks about naval invasion... like "Le débarquement" referencing allies naval assault in Normandy, in 1944, more than simply disembarking from a boat or a plane.

"Les Anglais ont débarqué" could be translated as "the Reds showed up" Débarquer doesn't mean getting off a boat (the word Paul was looking for is disembark) in this context, however it does have a military connotation It's like the enemy (the Reds) troops arrived as you weren't expecting them

Il y a du monde au balcon. Veut effectivement dire poitrine généreuse. Cela semble venir de la ressemblance des premiers soutient gorge qui ressemblaient à l'architecture des balcons au théâtre. Ce qui donne aussi une seconde dimensions a l'expression du moins a l'origine cela voulais également dire que c'était une femme qui avait un certain succès auprès des hommes. Car au théâtre les balcons était fréquentés par les nobles qui payaient pour assister au pièce alors que la fausse elle était parfois libre d'accès. la vraie réponse aux anglais qui débarquent c'est parce que les Français ont toujours bien aimer embêter les anglais sur le fait qu'ils sont souvent tout rouge de peau : l'été ou quand ils ont bu aussi et du coup voila j'ai bien peur qu'il y ait une petite part de racisme dans cette expression ^^ voila voila
