She rolled that cake up like it was nothing, and then her finishing move was to pick it up and plate it without any tearing or spillage. God I love her.

She flours the pan and then literally whacks it against the sink to get off the excess. Other may tap, but she takes no prisoners. I just started laughing. Her exuberance- I love her attitude!

She is not a , Tapper, and her husband rearranged the kitchen for her. I love them and hope to carry on their traditions😉

I really miss Julia. I started watching her when I was in high school in the 70s. I learned much from her. 👍

I just finished a book, The Secret Stealers by Jane Healey, a historical novel about women in the OSS and SOE during WWII, involving both fictional figures and actual ones-including Miss Julia and Paul Child. The narrator talks about Julia’s voice. Good book!

PS - People used to make jelly rolls at home all the time. My teacher taught that the main point was to see a perfectly uniform roll with the filling also perfectly uniform. The filling should be stiff enough to be rolled without sliding off. Each slice should be uniform.

The cooktop is Thermador. Any idea about the ovens and the refrigerator?

I don't know if it's a reflection on the ovens but it looks like they have lights on them.

@@briannumme9337 stoves back-in-the-day used to have cooktop lights on them or washing machines and dryers had lights on them so it wasn't a stretch to think these might have had a light to see the control panels better...🤷

Go ahead and laugh, but I'm not a professional cook/egg breaker. I've found a foolproof method for sperating eggs. Break them into a bowl an pour into a slotted spoon.

22:05 to think that after years of handling raw chicken without washing her hands along with decades of eating rich desserts, she might have met her maker in 1965 choking on a sliver of sponge cake. Her legacy would have been entirely different...!
