There's a part in the act 2 recap where there isnt any background music. For whatever reason even tho i definitely included a track there, it didn't render with everything else. Apparently Disney pushed this to be played in schools to promote an anti-bullying campaign, and I know this because my school made us watch this. After each short we had to discuss the moral or lesson the story was trying to portray.

I feel Frenemies was Disney Channel’s attempt to do a anthology film with segments that share the same theme and come together in the end kinda like Mickey’s Once Upon and Twice Upon a Christmas but I feel it failed miserably

I'm like 100% sure this film was based off of the 2008 book 'Frienemies' by Alexa Young, but the book story was just about Avalon and Halley's relationship. I have no idea that they made a film adaptation or why they added two extra irrelevant stories to it. I remember really enjoying the book as a kid.

Nostalgia tweaking by the end of the movie is both justified and funny as hell. Overall, if you want something good related to the term frenemies on the Disney Channel, just listen to that one song Buford and Baljeet sang in one of the Phineas and Ferb episodes.

Act 3 honestly felt like a completely different movie. As a kid the only storyline I cared abt was the boy and his dog even though Zendaya and Bella Thorne were marketed heavily. And ngl the dog’s face when he’s getting yelled at lowkey hurts my heart lol

Disney was just throwing DCOMs at any of their stars to get a quick ratings boost. That golden era of DCOMs from the mid-2000s was unmatched, some of that gold snuck into the 2010s with Let It Shine and LM.

Whenever I saw this movie, all I could think about is the Song from Phineas and Ferb, when Buford and Baljeet are singing about being Frenemies. That minute-long song was probably better than the entire movie ngl.

I actually loved “Frenemies” when it first aired. I was like in 2nd grade though. I have a weird nostalgic biased when it comes to movies from 2008-2014, because those were the true years of my childhood. I rewatched it in 2015 and it wasn’t that bad in my opinion compared to other movies. Honestly I believe the worst Disney channel movie ever is “Up Up and Away”, now that movie makes no sense and it so horrible.

Like even though I watched early 2000s shows and movies because they were airing while I was growing up, my true years of growing up was through 2008-2017 that’s when I genuinely kinda stopped watching Disney. After descendants movies that was it for me! So I definitely get where you’re coming from!

fyi, the "two identical unrelated people, one rich and one poor, decide to switch lives and get into shenanigans" plot comes directly from Mark Twain's "The Prince and the Pauper."

@@channel45853The Prince and the Pauper, whether you're aware of it or not, has been an enormously influential work of fiction in the US and elsewhere for the past 140 years, with literally dozens of direct adaptations and parodies being made since it was written. Having grown up in the '90s and 2000s, I can tell you that many, many shows did episodes that directly parodied "the prince and the pauper," and they were often given a similar title to make the reference obvious. The idea that a professional writer would be completely unaware of where the trope came from is, to me, not very believable.

I was 20 in 2012, so I wasn't watching Disney Channel anymore, but I remember seeing the opening story with the dog while flipping through channels and immediately hating it. If someone makes you choose between them or your pet, YOU IMMEDIATELY CHOOSE THE PET!!! Dogs are better than people

One thing I've realized as an adult now looking back. Majority of these Disney movies want to be so big but they're all around an hour to an hour and some change long. Too short to keep their basic ass plot to progress. Also I hate you cause I was thinking about Starstruck while I was typing this😂. I love Starstruck but the movie is garbage

What I think is so hilarious while watching this video is that halfway, when talking about act 3, when bringing up "Savannah" my brain rewired what you said so many times that I thought you said "Samantha" and because Mary Mouser is in Cobra Kai and plays Sam Larusso, I just thought her name in this was Samantha as well for a second. I also didn't remember that she was in this when I started watching the show for the first time this year and she hasn't aged in the past 12 years (I'm not joking when saying this). I have seen this movie twice. This movie is THAT forgettable.

Theory! I think this movie was originally meant to just be Bella and Zendaya's story, but when they realized it was barely enough plot for 30 minutes, they added the other 2 and called it an anthology! It'd explain why the characters from story 1 or 3, aside from Bella and Zendaya, appeared in story 2!

I used to watch this movie alllll the time as a kid. Looking back I'm 90 percent sure it was just because I had a crush on skater girl, not because it was good or anything.

The first and last story at least were kind of connected with that Savanna girl but it was like someone at the higher ups was like “yeah we planned a shake it up movie but it was canceled but Zendaya and Bella already signed on so can you put them in. Here’s an abridged version of the story we planned just show horn them in other scenes bye”
