Going to look at the original trailer, it's definitely not my cup of tea but it's worth noting it seems to be for a lot of people. It has 100k up doots and nearly every single comment is positive, with people even asking for a second season.

There was a “why waste our time with someone who doesn’t want to be helped” “let’s send him back to philly” moment in the original fresh prince also. The exchange between Vivian and Phil was nearly identical to the one in this reboot.

Yup all my white working class British friends wanted to be will smith back then, super racist bastards that they were and still are lol. This show is going to suck because it does not realise that I am telling the truth and as a result the creators will never truly understand why they are the racists this show is expensive activism and it's a shame because there is some talent on screen even if the behind scenes don't have anything to offer other than 2016 political battles with no reflection on the real world. We could all relate in one way or other with the original characters and they do not like it they want blacks to feel segregated and suspicious of others and it's evil.

Nah, most people (even youth know) of The original Fresh Prince of Bel Air original and those that don't will eventually either find it on tv, streaming or through family dvds. Its also one of the most shown sitcoms internationally still to this day, similar to Seinfeld. Its honestly that big. Its huge. The show has been played yearly many times through since its original air dates in the 90s. It honestly holds up better then even the older classic sitcoms past eras before it, which aren't shown as much now unfortunately. It also had an almost slapstick / cartoonish production value to it, so even if you weren't watching it directly, it would draw people to the screen. Get those dvds and show people this show before they try and take the original away!

Will doesn't realize it, but The Fresh Prince was memorable and good because of him and Alfonso Ribeiro, and the rest of the cast comedy timing. Will Smith exuded charisma in the 90s, and he kept growing because of more memorable projects like Fresh Prince, Bad Boys, Men in Black, and Independence Day. Once he started to aim for the Oscars, he lost his edge. On the other hand, the last project he did something good was funding Cobra Kai in KZfaq.

Y’know what’s funny about this too? Fresh Prince already had its woke moments. One scene that stood out to me was Carlton and Will didn’t get into the sorority they wanted because the guys there didn’t think Carlton was “black” enough. They get home and tell Uncle Phil all this and he is understandably mad. Uncle Phil goes on to talk about people shouldn’t be punished for their success and the like, and how he as a Judge has made many changes to stuff like Criminal Justice and (wait for it) “affirmative action.” Yes. Uncle Phil was for affirmative action. The same affirmative action that we all know to not actually help black people get into college, but to lower the bar for entry while actively discriminating against whites and asians. Edit: fraternity, not sorority. Lol. Edit 2: So apparently I’m combining something Uncle Phil said in one episode with the one I described above. Yup, woke garbage can never take off on its own so they always have to steal something that's successful, and to be realistic those things are always successful because they never focused on being woke, only on being good. Then when people complain about it being woke garbage the "creators" (the woke writers that hijacked that franchise they had nothing to do with creating or popularizing) just call those long time fans that kept the series alive in their hearts for so long toxic, sexist, and racist, instead of listening to their valid points. Then that series inevitably flops and the "creators" will claim that particular franchise was just not popular anymore in modern times and that it was doomed to fail because of the fans not because of them. Then the whole cycle starts again, and again, and again... Until there's nothing left.

"Oh my God! I freaking love The Fly Prince of Buenos Aires! I've literally watched every episode that came on after 11pm on the rerun channel! That's right, all seven! Dr. Phil is so cool. He showed those 90's people that black men can be successful and not drug dealers. I hope this new version shows people that black men can be successful and not drug dealers, because you never see that in TV shows! They really spiced this up by making the original's invisible racism into an actual racist character! I'm just glad they decided not to show Will as a goofball that gets bullied by gang bangers, since that's so stereotypical and racist. It works way better if he and his family get bullied by white people, since that's reality. Hopefully they explain what an "Uncle" is in the opening credits, because my mom told me an uncle was any guy my mom or my aunties brought home more than once. She also said that I couldn't call them uncle out loud or they would disappear with our electronics. Sometimes that would happen anyway. So turns out the show has pretty decent reception from the audience. It seems to this show was created because of the audience reception of the final episode where will cries on screen. They took at as people wanted to see Fresh Prince with a more serious tone. Considering the audience score on rotten tomatoes is floating around the 70 it may be worth while. All of the lower reviews come from people expecting it to be a 1:1 Remake of fresh prince and finding the show not "Fun." I was hoping the series would continue in a different manner: Following Uncle Phil's death, the family tries to fulfill the request in his will to have his ashes buried where he always felt was home at the old house. Will feeling the need to fulfill this after all his Uncle did for him attempts to bury in the backyard to hilarious results. At the end, he finds out the house is for sale and Will buys the house back. Vivian wishes she could be closer to Phil and family, Will invites her to move in with him and his family which includes three teens/ young adults of his own. The next episodes involve Hillary attempting to move her current show back to LA. Carlton loses on bad investment (crypto?) and his wife kicks him out until he makes back the money. Ashley is pregnant with her 2nd child and would welcome any help from family as her husband is deployed somewhere for the next 20+ months, and finally Nicky enrolls in a graduate program at one of the schools in LA. I am not a writer, but I think the above is what would work with both old and new cast having to deal with 21st century issues.

White privaledge man was singing the n-word and was carefree about it when Will walked in on it. Also, white privaledge man is Carlton's best friend and dealer.

I'm really having a hard time watching Bel Air...for starters, to me it seems like they're trying to overload each character with too many issues/skeletons in the closet. And in my opinion the portrayal of Carlton is the worst; a drug-snorting kid who is intent on undermining Will's attempts to adapt to his environment. The "realism" that the writers are injecting into the show is really making each episode a humorless affair to watch for my tastes.

@@wallacepemberton932 The people who do want to watch the show, we don't need your input because at the end of the day if you think thst it's all woke and virtue signaling, then you haven't actually really looked into it, or watched an episode, so why are you speaking on something you've never seen? See I dislike euphoria, but I actually had to watch it to come to that conclusion rather than just sitting back and shitting on it.

@@wallacepemberton932 The thing is that it's not. You know exactly why you are hating on it, it's all because of how you feel about it rather than how good the actual show itself is. You should see the the amount of people review bombing it like they have nothing else going on in their life. Obviously some people like it because it's the 11th most popular show right now according to imdb. So stop trying to shit on it and maybe, you know, actually watch the show.

I love when reboots ignore a show is based on real life people. The guy that was the real Prince of Bel Air, and the show was based off of, did several interviews when the show became popular. It's based on the life of Benny Medina who was an executive producer. He was from East LA instead of Philadelphia. He moved to live with a wealthy friend to Beverly Hills. He helped create and pitch what ended up becoming The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

I remember seeing the fan made trailer of a serious, modern fresh prince and it was actually kind of cool. What made it interesting though is that if you’re a fan of the show and know the episodes you could watch the trailer and see the story through another lense. Does it need a whole show though? Idk. They could have just made a completely different series (and who knows maybe it’ll feel that way). What’s more of a let down to me is that fresh prince was a funny show that you could quote, laugh with, watch with your friends AND your family. There haven’t been too many great tv comedies recently. I feel like there are a lot of great dramas and dystopian fantasies, but I’d rather see more comedies in development.

It's not the Fresh Prince though. It's a complete reimagining with a far more realistic tone. Bel Air isn't a reboot, it's something you have to actually watch to understand. The story, actors, direction, are all phenomenal. Everything ain't for everybody though. You're not the target demo I presume, but for me... It hits different.
