You know seeing this obsession with race always reminds me of something Sargon of Akkad once said referring to 'progressives'; "your a giant racist, you just have a guilty conscience about it".

I kind of find it funny to see people younger and younger still spout the "seeing people of my color" when referring to T.V. shows. I grew up in the 90's and I remember quite a lot of different shows that had main casts that were of a color not white and the number of those shows just grew and even ballooned more and more. So this talking point for anyone younger than the age of 30 is mostly just bs and every second you go down in age is more and more just plain bs. And it's ironic that you don't see say a 60 year old black man on T.V. Making this claim when for that guy and that demographic of people that statement very likely would have been true with little doubt.

as a disabled person i can attest that anybody that says they care about disabled representation on screen is a liar who is only using their disability for personal and political gain. i dont go to the movies to remind myself of the pain my disability causes me i go their to escape it. having disabled people on screen that share my disability just brings that disbility to mind. also if the disabled person is shown to be able to do things that one could not actually do like for example somebody with extream back pain wielding a great sword it gives others real world expectations for disabled people that are unrealistic which is one of the worst aspects of being disabled.

I suffer from chronic pain also. Yes fantasy is to escape the pain not be reminded of it. In the lord of the rings Frodo due to the knife wound he took and carrying the ring basically became changed and it was a wound that never quite healed. So he couldn’t be a part of normal hobbit life anymore and left in the boat. That’s basically a disability but it’s part of the story and makes sense. I could identify with it.

Most of those people don't realize that most actors are white ,that the most attractive skin color are white people so they sell better it's just a well known fact and nothing wrong with that. But because they didn't have positive representations in their homes they want to identify with something on the outside they can identify too because they don't know who they are. I stopped listening to them the second one of them told me she was non binary yet didn't understood why people could not see her as a boy. I said do you even hear yourself? I'm truly confused by this idea of being represented. As kids we used to pretend to be Hulk Hogan, Mr. T, and the Macho Man while we destroyed my friend's mom's furniture. We were imitating their behavior, not the color of their skin. No one bickered over who was what color, it was who was the biggest badass. Never once in my life did I feel represented by someone on TV, or in reality for that matter.

That's because you were under the spell it white supremacy growing up but now people are more enlightened and know how to grapple with the stereotypes you were so accustomed to accepting in your racist schools and play groups and racist racisms with systematic systems of systemicry and deeply rooted bias so rampant that it was normalized and fooled even those who were discriminated against. They were so badly victimized as victims that they didn't even recognize the victimization they had to suffer at the hands of the victimizers... They were so traumatized they didn't even know they were suffering trauma. Even while it was happening. Like because they didn't even have designated safe spaces for diversity where diversity could be enjoyed and learned from with all the diversity. Back then they would just let anybody into spaces. So it would be like all diverse people there then they would let white people come in and ruin it.

I'm just gonna say it: there doesn't seem to be much "diversity" amongst these "super fans." They're British, but from what I'm looking at there's only one caucasian. Pretty sure white people in the UK still represent more than 20% of the population. And not a single white male, despite the fact that before the movies came out, I suspect that most of the hardcore fans were white males. But even looking past race, let's talk about the lack of diversity as it relates to opinions. It's not bad to be a "super fan" who was underwhelmed with that trailer. It's not bad to question the substance of what was the trailer. Instead they had a trailer full of 'yes men,' or should that be 'yas queen.' 🙄 And with that said, it seems like LGBT+ "super fans" are overrepresented. The word "diversity" has an established meaning...and it's not "non-white." Can't believe I have to explain that! 🙄

The issue isn’t with racial diversity in general, it’s the fact that it’s forced unnatural equity. This inevitably lowers the value of everything it touches since it’s no longer a meritocracy, and instead determined by identity and appearance. Why do you think there’s been such a drastic decrease in overall quality in TV & movies in the past 5-6 years, especially with writing? Not to mention blacks only comprise 16% of the population and yet demand 50% representation in every industry. Well, really just the lucrative, high-skill-barrier to entry industries, you don’t hear about them complaining about equal representation within the McDonald’s workforce, do ya? We need to replace some of the corn flakes with Wheaties, rice crispies, honey bunches of oats, special K, Froot Loops, Super sugar crisp, Cap'n Crunch, cocoa pebbles, life, cookie crisp, Buc Wheats, lucky charns, kix, and trix. Now that's a better bowl of corn flakes.

This reminds me of all the Magic the Gathering promos they do for each set they release. They've been doing this thing where they hire actors who've never played the game once, to come and talk about how excited they are for the set and it's mechanics. I wouldn't be surprised if these people have never even seen the original trilogy or read any of the books. They probably watched The Hobbit movie's and thought those were great, but they've definitely never seen the original movie's. So people who've never seen the movie's or read the books are going to dictate to the rest of us about what good writing looks like.

They never probably even Googled it and just glanced at the success of PJs LOTR trilogy films but never the actual reason behind it. They never researched that they were actually buying the TV rights to what happens to be the 3rd most sold book in the entire planet translated into over 40 languages. With millions upon millions of fans worldwide of all the skin colors under the rainbow and those are the fans they ended up calling Yatzee white supremacists. They called Arabs, Japanese, Latinos, Blacks, Native Americans collectively for being Tolkien fans reecist bigots and in their unmitigated gall not understanding the huge fire ants nest they stepped on they made the Superfan videos to boot. A youtuber did some digging and discovered that this hack, promo bit was the exact same in every single country.. they literally directed their reactions and experience "watching" the trailer. 65% of this video was talking about how grateful they were for being invited to the event and how INCREDIBLE it was. 30% was "muh diversity and inclusion" and 5% was talking about actual LOTR. "I'm so excited to see younger, inexperienced Galadriel" she is THOUSANDS of years old at this point and you can tell they have no idea. "Why are we fighting? WHY were the rings even made?!" - LOTR SUPERFANS, everyone. This show is being astroturfed so goddamn hard it's almost sickening. This show cost a BILLION DOLLARS and is signed on for 5 seasons regardless of revenue or ratings. This show is already DOA - I cannot wait to watch it crash and burn and see the desperate cope from all the grifters. They picked the WRONG fanbase to screw with; these aren't Marvel fanboys - these people treat Tolkien's work like religious texts. They've ripped through franchise after franchise, eviscerating our modern mythologies and the stories we fell in love with; we lived and learned from.. Comic fans couldnt stop it; Star Wars fans couldnt stop it; but LOTR fans were as impenetrable as Helm's Deep. Hold strong, brothers and sisters - you're setting the example for the entire culture war. We may not be Tolkien experts - but we will ride to your aid when the beacons are lit.

The thing about people who focus on "diversity" is that their view of what diversity should look like is incredibly unrealistic. For example.. if they lived in a country where 95% of the population is white with 5% as non-white, instead of being satisfied that a movie set, sports team, governments politicians etc. realistically represents the population racially these people will be unsatisfied because "diversity" in this day and age pretty much just mean LESS white people and at the very least have a 50%non-white and 50% white expectation.. generally these are the people who complain that "my kids should see people on the TV who look like them" totally ignoring the fact that the reason why one sees mostly white people on TV or in public is because OBVIOUSLY they live in a country where 95% of the country is white...If we're were to make the conscious decision to move to a country where I know that 99.5% of the population DOES NOT look like me and is ethnically homogenous then I'd be a fool to complain that people on TV or politicians or historical figures DO NOT look like me therefore it is do to racism. It doesn't matter what people do, when it comes to "diversity" NOTHING is ever good enough.

i would love to see an original Intellectual Property in the 21st Century. I mean, if there are entire subsets and groups of people who think every other property needs to be revived with a brand new woke cast, why cant they just make something similar? There's clearly a strong enough desire for movies with these specific groups of people in them, so why arent there enough people in their ranks to write a new story? Why cant people write original storylines that include woke groups of people and just let the old stuff that they dont respect fade into the annals of history? I would watch a high fantasy movie with an all ethnic/all LGBTQ cast. But does it need to be "Gimli, and Galadriel, but black"? or "Sauron, but in drag"? Is it impossible to create new characters and new storylines with new people in new movies? Make a giant Sauron-like character, stick whatever you want on it. Make Indian Elves, Make all the dwarves gay, like, no one is writing a rule book that says you or anyone cant make something original.

Avatar TLA was badly adapted with forced diversity instead of maintaining the eastern Asian inspired world building, I didn't want to see white Katara or Aang, it actually ripped me out of the fantasy. If you can't enjoy something unless the people look like you then you're weird and probably narcissistic. The story needs to fit the world building, worldbuilding is absolutely pivotal to fantasy and no one did worldbuilding better than Tolkien.

“All 3 women never spoke to each other” well there’s actually 4, and one of those ladies were a spider. And why would the women speak in the original movies? They are from two different worlds, mostly going through their own war and figuring out their own identity. They gave us truly inspiring women characters from the original LOTR. These people have never watched all the LOTR. Let alone the extended version 😂
