A bit of a rambly review of a contemporary fiction, a cowboy classic audiobook, and my attempt at reading a horror book without dissolving.
‪@TheBookubus‬ led me to The Cormorant, highly recommend her channel.

To save getting extra books I already have I have my books in sections and in alphabetical order and then I take photographs. I can then check my phone when I am out and about if a book shop and can't remember if I've already got it. Best wishes.

Sooo jealous of those PG Wodehouse books 😮. What a bargain! I’m pretty sure I picked up Ordinary Human Failings a couple of months ago. I must read it. I’ve heard such good things about that audio book of True Grit. I think I’m going to get that for June on the Range. Great video 😊

True Grit was on Libby for me so might be for you too. Very happy with my Wodehouse, vinted seems a good place for book bargains.

That always happens when you replace something you lost, then find it the next day!! I've got ordinary human failings on reserve from the library. Fave women's prize so far is Brotherless Night (started 2 days ago) & closely followed by Nightbloom. I read a few James Herberts as a teen/ early 20s and loved them at the time. Think I'm too scared now 😂

Brotherless Night sounds interesting. I do want to read the book about Rats Herbert wrote, I find them cute.

@@AaronReadABook just checked, I read the magic cottage, portent, and sepulchre. I think rats are cute too, but as pets rather than unwanted invasion in a home!

I love The Fog, it was one of the first horror novels that I stole from my Dad (nicked most of his James Herbert actually 🤫) when I was a kid. Probably shouldn’t have read it that young in hindsight but I really liked all the horror I could get my hands on when I was around 9 or 10, definitely worth the trouble I got into haha

I've returned it to the library because I'm reading a chunkster and someone was waiting, but I plan to get that back, or maybe Rats by him too. Goosebumps were my limit as a kid

I'm so glad you gave The Cormorant a try (although sorry my subliminal messaging made you hit the buy button!) and I really enjoyed hearing your thoughts on it. It's an interesting one, for sure! The Fog is great, definitely more your classic 70's horror fare than literary bird weirdness haha

It has certainly stuck in my mind 😂 I think I will give The Fog a go for Horror Mayhem.

@@AaronReadABook oh also, not sure if it is of interest but there is a pretty good BBC adaptation of The Cormorant starring none other than Ralph Fiennes!

@@TheBookubus I saw that, I am curious because I can't imagine a cormorant acting. I do want to see if it poos everywhere and destroys their house.😂

I’m a delicate flower child when it comes to horror too 😂. I haven’t read any of these, but as a bird lover, who likes cormorants, I should probably stay away from The Cormorant, lol. 😬 Great haul! You found some awesome deals. I’ve never read anything by PG Wodehouse. Any recommendations on a good one to try?

Well I didn't want to say it in the video but I'm 100% on the cormorant's side 😂 With Wodehouse I would start with a Jeeves & Wooster, order isn't that important but the first few are in short story form which is a great intro, particularly The Inimitable Jeeves, they tend to be cheap on kindle.

Ah yes, the buying books you already own thing 🤔 at least you knew you had another copy, I’ve bought books I already own without realizing several times 😉 Can’t imagine being in the mood for horror although I did read a bit when I was younger, I’ve got more lily -livered as I’ve aged obviously 😩

Oh I have a few accidental doubles too 😂 You need to embrace more genre fiction Jo! Although when genre fiction become classics they all of a sudden become literature I've noticed.

I thought Ordinary Human Failings was really well done. I've got a couple of ereader books I bought a physical copy for later, it's so annoying.

I agree, I will look out for her future books as I think she will get better too. I've definitely done the e-reader thing too, sometimes I will do it on purpose though if its a big book and its cheap on kindle, just being lazy haha.
