Heather definitely put me on to Blue Book of Nebo too, glad to see another positive push for it, I need to get to that.

It packs a lot of punch for a small thing, as it's in diary form it's very quick to read too, hope you like it!

Elly Griffith is my guilty pleasure. She’s written three crime series and I’ve read them all. The Blue Book of Nero sounds brilliant. You’ve sold Agatha Raisin to me too 😊. Great video

That one sounds super interesting to me so I'm glad people like Elly Griffith. I'm going to end up with about 20 different detectives on the go haha.

I'm reading Assembly of the Severed Head for Dewithon - I've been wanting to get to Nebo for ages. Love, love, love the Herriot books (author's real name: Alf Wight). I read them all in my late teens/early 20s, and listened to the audio of the first one a couple of years ago. Wonderful. There's a second BBC series out right now, that strays much further from the books (age up Siegfried and make him a sad widower rather than an inveterate ladies' man, and age down Mrs. Hall, to make them possible love interests, for example). I'm watching it anyway, lol, still good. I liked the books so much I read his son's biography of his dad (The Real James Herriot: A Memoir of my Father), which was also really good. In some ways the books are very autobiographical, in others not, which I guess is often true of auto-fiction.

I saw that there was a new series when I was looking for pictures, I think I'll watch some of the old one once I've finished. Siegfried is such a great character I think he doesn't need changing!. The Assembly of the Severed Head sounds interesting

I want to check out Agatha Raisin, I didn't think I'd love cozy murder mysteries but they're so cute lol. you almost forget people are dropping dead lol

I'm addicted to them now. But then every now and then I will read a really dark mystery and be traumatised.

I really liked the theee or four Elizabeth George I’ve read and the same goes for the Marie Dobbs series, I’m more of a fan of historical mysteries because they don’t have computers, phones, DNA analysis etc, they have to use their “little grey cells” more. I liked the Agatha Raisin TV series but wasn’t as big a fan as you of the book you read. Different strokes for different folks! Great to see you get a shoutout from Katie!

I didn't know there was a TV show! I'll have to check it out. Yeah older setting is definitely more fun, newer ones tend to be darker as I guess its quite hard to do cozy village murder books now.

I have The Crossing Places too, but haven't gotten to it yet! I purchased it in Wales. I loved The Blue Book of Nebo!

I always try to resist book buying on holiday because I hate carrying luggage. Most people seem to like the Ruth Galloway books.

We read the crossing places for book club, it was quite good. Jabs Herriott has been on my tbr for about 4 years! I started watching the new tv adaptation, then couldn't get it on catch-up, but will have to Iook again. I donated all of my Agatha Raisins to our work book case - I'd be happy to send you a pic of the ones that are there and then post any to you that you wanted 😊

It's nice that you have a work book case, I think I'm okay with the three I have so far thanks! The Crossing Places is definitely the one that sounds most up my alley.

Yes, I have of course read the Elly Griffiths and the Maisie Dobbs book as I was one of the folk recommending them. Loved them both so I hope you do too and both series get better and better in my opinion.

I read the Elly Griffiths one already so I'll review that soon, I enjoyed it! But I do think the detective guy is not very good at his job in this first one haha.

The Nebo book sounds intriguing. You say great post-apocalyptic, and it goes on the list. I want to try that Becky Chambers series. I have a complicated relationship with her 😜. I don’t love her books, but I like them enough that I keep wanting to try different ones.

I’m glad you liked Agatha Raisin! I’m not sure at what point, but the later books aren’t written by Beaton. A ghost writer continues the series after Beaton’s death. It may be around book 17 or so.

@@AaronReadABook Beaton died in 2019, but she was working with a ghostwriter before she died so the series could continue. I was wrong about the timing. It looks like the last five books are written by someone else, with some before that being collaborations as Beaton’s health was failing. I’ve read up to #16 so far. I’m actually a bit overdue for an Agatha Raisin!

Agatha Raisin books are fun actually, I did stop though after a while and it wasn't anything to do with the writing I think I just stopped reading overall. I might need to go back to them because they were always a good little read and funny too.
