Your de-escalation skills are amazing. I understand the visual judgement when you encounter anyone. Maybe I've also seen a lot of people under the influence of many things, or not, but I get this gut feeling that is rarely wrong. "Are you Ok?" is one of the best questions to ask. It opens a dialogue and then better insight can be used.

@fishn365 You're right. And on top of that, there's other circumstances that may make law enforcement seem unreasonable. Remember, PCSO is more open to letting their people use their discretion than most departments/jurisdictions. And I could be wrong, but they seem to be in a fairly safe area. You can't expect a more dangerous or secure place to have such relaxed standards for their law enforcement agencies.

Deputy Sloup, being respectful and professional from the very first moment he encounters the driver makes the stop and subsequent arrest go very peacefully. Pineal County Sheriffs Office should submit this video to every Police Training facility in the USA for how to make a traffic stop and arrest go smoothly. It’s all about tone of voice, physical stance, respect and concern of the driver and passenger, while maintaining professionalism.

Frank is good at putting people at ease and we see him connect with folks every week, i.e. “you calling me babe?” 2. Frank looks like he can handle himself in a fight. 3. I worked with State troopers and they said they would pull over a person weaving in and out of traffic, over a person speeding anyday of the week. Not to say you can speed, they just said "They" feel weaving is way more dangerous than speeding.
@gwencrawford737
@gwencrawford737 6 ай бұрын
They're basically right. You can go fairly fast, and not be a threat on the road. You just have to make sure to give yourself a lot of fudge room, so no matter what happens, you have time to stop safely without hitting anything. We see this on the interstate all day, every day, across the country. People do 80 in a 65 all day long without any crashing, so long as they keep a good space cushion around their own vehicle, and look far enough up ahead to detect slowing traffic BEFORE they would have to consider 'jamming on the brakes'. They see problems and slow down BEFORE there's any kind of emergency need to do it. The idiot weaving in and out of traffic? They're usually running right up on people's rear ends and steering to dodge people... and sooner or later, they're going to bugger up and nail someone.

Honour to be here early, I would just like to take this opportunity to point out how prepared officer Sloup is, with a grand total of what appears to be eight (8!) pens at the ready on his vest.
@ILruffian
@ILruffian 6 ай бұрын
Yep. Even for a guy assigned to full-time traffic duty, that's a lot of pens. I'm also surprised that they allow beards. When I was a patrol cop, we had to be clean-shaven. Only exception is if you had a medical condition. Even then you had to trim it close. That said, policing is regional. Maybe that's how they do it in FL. Guy's demeanor is professional, that's all that counts.

In an earlier video, he stated that he carries that many because there are some people who he doesn't want to touch the pen after they have.
@ILruffian
@ILruffian 6 ай бұрын
I didn't catch that, thanks for sharing. In my state, we were not required to have motorists sign anything, so wasn't an issue. They look like nice/expensive pens. Hopefully, the property section issues them. I didn't want to touch my cuffs after they were in contact with most people who wore them. Way too expensive to be disposable. I just wiped them with antibacterial wipes. Perhaps he does that with the pens at the end of the day and recycles them. @@redrum425

@@ILruffian I agree with you. Back in the day, appearance was taken very seriously. I see so many videos these days where cops obviously do not give it a second thought. Policing has changed in many ways and not all of them are good, IMHO. I do appreciate Frank's interpersonal skills. He is obviously well trained, experienced and knowledgeable. BTW, he's in AZ, I believe.

I like the idea of officers being allowed a bit more freedom for personal expression, and you're right it is regional; here in Canada, my brother worked in the RCMP and then switched to municipal policing in Victoria BC, and one of his earliest observations (besides unfortunately having to cool it with his lone-ranger attitude😉) was that he was allowed to have his beard.

Frank, God bless you. I wish all of America could watch your show even those stubborn people that don't like the police, and I wish they could imagine what it's like to do your job and that somehow they could understand the dangers involved to the other motor vehicle drivers when they are speeding or their windows are so tinted they could run over a pedestrian without seeing them. You're out there doing heroic stuff everyday, it's such a bummer that we have so many of these tik Tok people that are teaching others to ignore answering questions to law enforcement. I just started watching your show everything you're doing is great thank you for what you're doing for America. I say America because KZfaq is broadcasting it all over the place, and the drivers who may have been on the border about how they drive are getting an insight as to the level of stupidity that they are practicing when they drive out of control.

Though potheads can be aggressive as well, not sure if it's because of all the bad weed or when don't have any, or just such messed up heads that there isn't any calm mellow.
