I think why it's better, it's different from others is because not only were they on a platform where they were free to do whatever but they thought about how a new show won't be hated and looked at what went wrong with other shows, that's something I really enjoyed, they didn't make us hate it nor did they make us feel like it wasn't icarly anymore, honestly this was just pretty well done, I'm excited for Season 2

The whole treehouse rumbling thing really gave it that "end of the season" type vibe you'd get in the original series. However, it would have been nice if they played it up more. Like it would have been interesting to see them running out of food, people get lost in interesting pair ups, actual struggle from the rain, and more stuff that leads up to the big treehouse rumble. Overall, I feel like this entire thing was near perfect for a show that's returned almost a decade later. I wouldn't expect it to have everything hit the mark and the quality definitely got better as you could see the cast get more comfortable and play off each other. I can't wait for Season 2.

So true about the rain idea. Wished the played off with the weather or the setting a bit more cause they were literally in a forest. Sort of like the episode when they went to webicon in japan and got soaked in mud lol. It kind of defeats the purpose of the super nice clothes they had but it would have been cool if they had harper make outfits out of nature and did a reveal of their cute outfits like previous episodes. They could of fit sooo much more if they were able to do a longer finale episode

The reboot's just been okay so far. It's especially obvious in this episode that this show is on a reduced budget compared to the original show, which really hurts its presentation. My favorite characters in this were Spencer, who feels no different than he did before, and Harper, who's been a less toxic friend compared to Sam. Could really use more of Carly actually doing the iCarly show to help get a sense of what it's like now. Also hope to see more returning characters like Gibby or T-Bo.

I feel like the main conflict of this season finale really didn't resonate with me. I mean, are we supposed to actually be cheering for both Wess and Beau? One of them fixed her car for free despite the fact that it was supposed to cost thousands of dollars, has been there for her, took her side against his own nana, and is super forgiving of her despite how many times she's messed up the past 3 episodes. The other one only appeared for 3 minutes in the first episode to dump her in front of an international audience. On the contrary, I think the viewer can't help but be pissed off at Carly for even considering Beau. It's just her going back to her old serial dating ways and dumping guys for really shallow reasons again. I'm this close to saying that she should give up on a relationship and accept that she just enjoys the thrill of dating new guys more than forming an actual connection with someone. I can't really be invested in this season finale conflict since we all know that regardless of who Carly chooses, she'll just dump them like she always does when she finds out something about them that she doesn't like.
@bluz1864
@bluz1864 3 жыл бұрын
I wanted to say this but you said it perfectly. I can't get invested Because we have seen what Wes has done for her and with Beau dumping Carly (already bad enough) and us not knowing anything about their relationship until now, it doesn't make sense that she'd even miss him NOW. I do agree that just seems to enjoy the thrill of dates which I think could actually be a good storyline in itself. Like she figures out she has pushed aside so many great guys and starts to realize she has commitment issues. I don't know if they'll go that route because of zoom in on Freddie just as the helicopter came in. I'm not even a creddie fan but I see it and if they really want to go that route,I don't think they route it too well for this episode.

@@Ethan-dn1wc Yeah, but the only "hint" was them awkwardly realizing they received the honeymoon suite, which could have been construed as fanservice (I thought so). Also, the ex part could have been what made them uncomfortable, not them still liking each other. Plus, when they danced at Nevel's wedding, it came across to me as only friends dancing and supporting each other. Then, she actively volunteered to help Freddie get back together with his ex wife. All excited and hopeful, no jealousy was hinted at all. To me, this scene is the only moment where it's hinted that Freddie and Carly could have feelings for each other. Honestly, I feel like the writers should have built up this moment better. That's why some people really think this a love triangle between Beau, Carly, and Wes.

@Lauren_210
@Lauren_210 3 жыл бұрын
I feel the same. I kind of predicted that there was going to be some conflict between Beau and Wes, but her having to be in this rough spot of her choosing either Beau or Wes didn’t really have the kind of build up that it should have had prior. Beau was in the first 5 minutes of the first episode, briefly mentioned in iGot Your Back when Carly received the email invite for the red carpet event, and then suddenly Beau comes back here mentioning that him breaking up with her was the second worst mistake he’s ever done. However, there was never really any ongoing plot line for Carly regarding that specific breakup she had with him and having that difficulty moving forward from him. I’m not sure if I’m supposed to take it that Wes appears to be jealous of Beau and is assuming that Carly is immediately falling back for him, but I just don’t want it be that Wes is just this insecure guy who makes false accusations and doesn’t trust Carly because that’s also another cliche we’ve seen so much in everything (and I personally don’t want to be reminded of a previous breakup I had a couple years ago where that happened in a similar fashion).

Honestly, the Carly/Beau/Wes love triangle felt like they were trying to get us in a Team Edward vs. Team Jacob situation, but the audience doesn’t know enough about either of them to even pick a side. Honestly, I’m more team neither. Beau is a jerk and Wes is kinda boring.. they’re gonna need to do some more character building to get us invested in this love triangle, because I don’t really have a solid reason to ship either couple. But really, I don’t know if any amount of character building will make me stray from Team Creddie 💕😆

Ngl I didn't see Harper getting together with Dutch at all because Dutch is really annoying lol. If I were Carly, I would pick Wes. Fun is fun, but stability to what keeps a house together. You can have fun with your friends. Plus Wes can fix cars. What's better than a hot husband that's useful? They only had issues because they were in the middle of a forest. How often is that going to happen? And what if they had been lost? They would've been incredibly thankful for Wes.

I've really enjoyed the reboot so far! The only complaint I've got with the finale is that it basically already confirmed Carly isn't gonna end up with either of them. The fact she isn't sure who she wants is already sign enough that she's better off without either of them, and I feel like that'll be the route she takes in season 2. Wish it was just a bit more exciting is all.

I personally enjoyed this episode a bit more than the previous one, but as a season finale, I think it’s kinda weak (especially for a revival that is aimed at the audience who grew up with the first show and more adult now). I know the original iCarly didn’t always have big season finales with some of the seasons ending with an episode that would just feel like a standard episode within a season. The only finales the first show had that were big were iFight Shelby Marx (season 2), iParty with Victorious (season 4), and iGoodbye (season 6). Many adult sitcoms usually have big finales that leaves you hanging for what’s to come next in the following season and had some building towards it, but I just don’t really feel it here. It was nice to see Freddie continuing to get his career development and receiving support from Spencer, Beau, and Millicent, which I thought was good that they did that for him. Also, Harper and Double Dutch getting together…I kind of saw it coming and their kiss was the highlight of the episode for me, but I feel like it will backfire quickly within the next season because it is Harper and Double Dutch breaking boundaries since Harper is essentially dating her boss, which doesn’t go well professionally.

I have a theory. Carly has always liked Freddy but didn’t want to ruin their friendship. So she keeps him at a distance. She tries to fill the void with dating all these other guys but none of them would be great for her like Freddie would be. That’s why they never work. Also I think Freddie has been the first boy to actually say I love you to her. So whenever she hears that it’s triggers memories. That’s probably why she looked at Freddy after they both said I love you to Carly.

honestly, the last 3 episodes havent done it for me, to me, they started the first half of the season on a breakup, had carly grow into someone who is more relationship-wise independent, and then seemed to throw that out the window with these last 3 episodes. she has since done the same overbearing behavior that beau broke up with her over. beau mentioned that with how new the relationship was in the beginning, that carly had been going too fast like going to the doctor with him, and then later when wes told her in a mature way that he didnt feel they were ready in their relationship yet to meet his grandmother over dinner, she pushed until he gave in, which is that same boundary crossing behavior in a newer relationship. i was really happy with the direction they were going of her learning how to be on her own while doing these big things and im disappointed that she has been acting like she needs a guy to be in a relationship with her :(

I prefer when relationships are shown to grow overtime and don't just sorta... happen. With Carly, it's always been her character trope of crushing on a guy hard and it never working out, so it feels in character in this episode. But again, I don't know. I love this reboot. People talk about how sporadic DD and Harper’s relationship is as if it’s a bad thing. Harper is established as someone who is non-committal and has relationships like a revolving door. DD is someone who is very random and has a “go with the flow” type of personality. It is not unrealistic for them to spontaneously get together in the heat of the moment. People always talk about how relationships have to be planned and dragged out, but that’s not true to life. Sometimes you have this random act of wanting to be in a relationship or conflicted feelings that you just act upon. Spontaneous relationships ARE realistic. They happen all the time. The problem is that long drawn relationships are normalized in social media and media in general. But that’s not how all relationships work. Sometimes things just happen. DD and Harper’s personality is the exact reason why their relationship is spontaneous. They ARE spontaneous people. This SHOW is spontaneous. It’s the same setup as Seddie where they have their back and forth, but their chemistry is clear and spontaneously end up kissing each other as a way to experiment with their feelings. The same thing, by the way, happened with Creddie. Creddie’s kiss was also spontaneous and heat of the moment. People just have biased viewpoints on what is acceptable and not because of the nostalgia brings. But spontaneous doesn’t mean it’s bad or poorly written. It’s a sitcom with a fast pace plot. This show takes that but also continues to address previous episodes and doesn’t leave them behind. I am excited to see where season 2 goes and I hope they continue in the direction. I doubt Jennette’s going to appear in this show for a while if at all, but I also don’t think she’s needed. Of course it would be wonderful to have Sam back. But understand there’s a lot of trauma associated with the character for that actress. So if she doesn’t come back, it’s perfectly fine. I really enjoy the energy of this reboot and I’m glad they aren’t afraid to tell the stories that they want to.

I honestly didn’t know what I was expecting this episode to do with Webicon as the main plot point because I figured it either would take place at the convention itself, or Nora kidnapped them again. Webicon being completely broke in a ≈post COVID 19 world where smaller conventions would be basically snuffed out and bigger ones would definitely need a few donation drives, I guess it makes sense. Of course I was wanting to see another Jojo cosplayer in the background of an episode like in the last Webicon episode.

I'll be honest, while I don't think that the show is bad and it's great to see where our characters are a decade from where iCarly ended, nothing about any of the characters stories or arcs are enticing enough for me to defend backing a renewal of further episodes. To be fair, adult sitcoms happen to be one of my least favorite formats of television, so there is that bias. Part of the appeal of the original iCarly for me was how it pushed boundaries for being a children's sitcom with it's absurdity, pop culture and adult humor. As a 22 year old now, I watch to be in the know, but not much else is hooking me to the series. I will say that there is a charm to the main cast members and there are moments of subtle humor that I appreciate but I suppose I would have rather the show went in the direction of focusing on Carly and something that replaces the web show as opposed to her day to day life now (which is a realistic approach but part of the fun of iCarly was the absurdity and adventure, which unfortunately is a category I think the revival pales in comparison to the original)

Honestly, I think it would've been better if Freddie took Beau's place in the love triangle. Not to say I'm a Creddie shipper, but I feel kinda sorry for them due to being blue-balled for almost a decade at this point. It's time to throw those guys a bone (yes, I know they almost slept together a few episodes ago, but seeing Carly actually consider Freddie to be boyfriend material without it being because of him saving her life would be oh so much more gratifying for them).
@courtneyrice872
@courtneyrice872 3 жыл бұрын
I agree, it would have been more compelling with Freddie, not that they necessarily needed to get together this episode. This is how I would have pictured the finale with this triangle: It’s a normal webicon at a normal convention center. Freddie, Wes, and Carly run into Bo. All the petty triangle drama ensues and the bombshells are dropped: Bo wants Carly back and Wes wants a commitment. Harper is off helping Dutch with whatever nonsense she’s up to, so Carly turns to her life long friend Freddie for advice. They’re talking about what Carly should do, and the conversation slowly morphs. We’re still talking about Wes and Bo, right? Freddie needs to leave, but not before saying something sweet and pointed and cheesy like “I’ve always known you to follow your heart. And whatever decision you make, you know I’m always here for you.” They hug, maybe a little longer than usual, and he leaves the room. She looks thoughtful. Wes and Bo come in and tell her she needs to choose. She briefly turns to the direction Freddie had walked off in and lightly smiles. Cut to credits.

1. Where was the sexual tension between Harper and Dutch??? That came out of nowhere. They give Spencer a girl, give Haper a girl, give Carly 2 boys, and Fredy just fails again. Just give everybody a girl, except for Freddy. 2. Why build up this perfect guy for Carly and out of nowhere give him deal breaking flaws? This new personality came out of nowhere. His personally shouldn't be based on the plot, the plot should be based on his personality. Finally. Why would Carly start to miss her ex the second her perfect boyfriend starts acting weird? Why would we even want to see them together? We seen him in like 2 scenes in the first episode. Maybe I was wrong about the writers taking risks. They want to play it safe. Keep the same formula. This way they can keep making Carly meet a guy that seems perfect until the plot tells him to be absolutely insane.

This episode highlighted that neither Wes nor Beau are right for Carly and vice versa. Wes might be a decent person to have in a long-term relationship, as he brings stability and commitment to a relationship, but Carly is incompatible at the moment to deal with someone that is too careful all his life. Love and romance aren't about just playing it safe. Sometimes it requires you to get out of your comfort zones at times. Have some fun, liven things up, that sort of thing. Meanwhile, Beau is too chaotic and spontaneous that he can and has dropped the relationship easily on a whim. He might be nice to have short-term but he isn't one that is willing to commit. Carly needs someone that can balance being somewhat spontaneous and fun to make happy memorable moments, but is also willing to commit to a relationship.
