It was wonderful to hear the story of your journey to where you are now, Seth! Seeing the clip of you at the event where you realized that you were on to something with Digital Marketing made me think, "Wow! This guy didn't know it at that time, but he is going to end up touching so many lives for the better!" Kudos to you, Seth!👏🏾 And the beard looks good on you!👍🏽

Currently saving for your course. Im financially struggling, but you give me hope that I can turn my life around with a career that I’d actually enjoy doing. Im somewhat familiar with SEO and affiliate marketing, but I’ve never taken a deep dive into the world of digital marketing. Like you I have a background in film/video production, but instead of pursuing a film degree I got one in criminal justice and became a police officer. I hated it and left, and have since been on my journey to doing what I’m passionate about. I fell on your videos and am just lit up every time I watch them. I can’t wait to invest in your course. Thank you for so much amazing content.

I knew some bits and pieces because I have followed you for quite a while. It was good to hear it all. I've always considered taking your course. Mostly because of your passion and transparency. I'm on the older side so the change might not be my thing.

Dude! @sethjared this is exactly how I felt when I found your course. Thank you for your vulnerability in sharing this side of yourself. Believe it or not I’m finally freelancing and I can’t believe I waited this long to do it. After a few agencies I swore I was done but I’m gaining traction and I feel very bit of the drive and excitement you’re talking about. This is the Seth I’ve been waiting for! Haha

Hi Seth, that's a great and captivating story! 😄I can really relate to your backstory as it is almost identical to to what my college experience was like and the aftermath! I came across your channel and the field of digital marketing recently and I do agree that this may be a good transition as well! I will most likely join your Digital Marketing course very soon! Thank you for sharing!

Thanks for the comment. I just mentioned that book as part of the story, but it was a big hit back around 2010 so it's a bit old school now. Today I'd recommend books by Alex Hormozi.

@sethjared First off, GREAT post! Love it! My question is: the recruiter who helped you rewrite your resume so you could land a DM job, you said you were forever grateful for. Did you model your the resume writing section of your course based on that advice you received from them years ago?
@sethjared
@sethjared 6 ай бұрын
Yes and no. It's not a direct take on that but the concepts he shared with me influenced what I teach.

I tell people to set aside $50 or $100 - but if you can get your hands on a client account, which is not that difficult, then they will spend all the ad money.

The jobs I am speaking of are primarily in Western countries such as the US, UK, Germany, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. You cannot be hired as a salaried employee for these jobs unless you are a citizen of these countries or if you have a work visa due to labor laws. If you live in a non Western country you can either get a job in your own country or you can freelance for Western companies via sites like upwork or fiverr.

Nice story, however, this is one of the worst job markets I've seen, at least for marketing/sales roles. Tons of layoffs, so you're competing for entry level jobs against people who have a lot more experience than you do. Very few companies I've come across recently are willing to train/mentor new employees, even for jobs that are said to be entry level. No need to when the supply exceeds the demand.

That's so true, I took this course and completed the generate the experience part, did a resume and I applied to many jobs and it's so competitive
@sethjared
@sethjared 6 ай бұрын
That's a pretty misleading, negative and generalized statement. First off, we're not talking about marketing/sales we are talking about digital marketing specifically PPC, SEO, Analytics, Paid Social. The job market has continued to grow since the early 2010s. In 2017 when I started the course there were typically 30,000 open jobs a day on Linkedin and students were getting hired regularly. At the moment the economy is slower than it was in 2022, but there are still 76,000 open digital marketing jobs on Linkedin alone and that doesn't include jobs at at 5,000+ agencies in the US. I regularly interview students who have been hired and are getting/support training in these skills. Going to post a few more soon. Regardless, if you are in the course please make sure you are following all the instructions and reaching out for support. If you haven't taken the course I can't speak to the nature of your experience/resume/how you are applying. Even in a slower job market there are thousands of opportunity, but if you go negative or don't have the specific skills that employers need, you won't get results.
@sethjared
@sethjared 6 ай бұрын
If you're in the course, please reach out to me to have your resume reviewed and provide more details about the expreience you've generated. This is a process, and for some people it takes 1 application for some people it takes 100. Don't complain about competition as that reflects a negative mindset. As I illustrate in my walkthrough videos, these jobs have many applicants but a very small percentage is actually qualified to do the work. Maintain a positive attitude, continue to improve yourself, reach out to the community/coaching calls for support, and you will achieve your goal.

@@sethjared I'm speaking from others' experience. Speaking to a family members who's a digital marketing recruiter, here's what she told me: "Even just 6 years ago Google Ads was a novelty. But it's just not anymore. Now there are so many candidates who know how to use the platform, they created a website to show their skills, etc." I'm not knocking what you're doing, but the perception I'm getting from people who are in the industry (currently employed but looking for other opps) or looking to get into the industry is that it is much tougher today than it was before.
