Brahma Chicken Development from Chick to full grown Hen! Giant Brahma Hen growing up. This video is about the Development of a freshly hatched brahma chick to an adult chicken. I documented the changes of the chick every day for the first few weeks, and every week thereafter, recording all stages of development/aging process and growth from the female chick to the full grown adult hen. Brahma chickens are one of the biggest chicken breeds in the world.

I've only had one Brahma hen, and we loved her. She was beautiful and sweet, but I felt like she was genetically inferior to all of my other chickens. She was slower than the rest of our chickens and was the only one that had trouble getting up on the roost. Then I walked out to find her prolapsed one day. If you don't know what this is, look it up. Unfortunately, I had to put her down to end her suffering, and I decided that I wouldn't get any more Light Brahma chickens after that.

Lack of nutrients. You didn't feed her with sands. Chicken need sands to be healthy and bathe in dust on daylights.

The Brahma was generally considered the leading meat breed for the period of time from the mid-1850’s through about 1930 - some 70 plus years. As broilers, Brahma chicks were killed quite young, about 8-10 weeks( 56-70 days)of age. They made a most profitable roaster at 8 months, later than many breeds, but it was found that virgin cockerels were still tender as roasters at 12-13 months - making them competitive against capons. As a family fowl they were unequaled, and a large Brahma could feed a moderate-sized family.-Livestock Conservatory I have some Brahma hens and a rooster and can say they gain size faster than my Jersey Giants. They are a docile bird and pretty to look at.

Thanks for your comment! Should still be that way. Would be better for the chickens and for nature. On a small scale, with healthy animals and without factory farming - thats how it should be.
