📜 Video Description 📜
Mark's 50NL graph is heading in an upward direction, but has his game improved or is he just on the right side of variance at the moment? In this cash game poker coaching session we look at some of the folds Mark has been making lately. Are they good folds? or is Mark overadjusting? There's only one way to find out..

This is frankly far and away the best instructional content that exists for intermediate player who have sound fundamentals but struggle to execute. Pause the video in every spot before Pete or Mark speaks and write your own analysis. Then compare. Rinse and repeat.

Thanks so much and couldn't agree more with the part about pausing and trying to solve on your own before watching each spot.

Firstly, loving the content! On the KJ2r 4bet pot hand I’m not certain this spot is as overbluffed as you’re saying here. I think an assumption is made when counting combos that villain is going to be min-raise bluffing all of his bluffs all the time - and I think a lot of the time AQ/AT/QT will all just prefer to call IP and hope to hit. I think JJ, KJ and AK (I think this player type is definitely not going to be pure jamming AK) are all more likely - also think when fish bluff they prefer to go all in rather than min raise. In the end after turn check and with such a good blocking hand got to call river, but I’m nowhere near as happy to make it as you would be.

At around 25 mins that concept is explained well by Elliot Roe in his meditations and in general when you make a good fold you lose the pot but you win the hand by taking away villains equity

Good stuff, Mark - looks like you’re learning a lot. Jump into the stars zoom 25nl pool and I’ll see you there! Also, not to be a pedant - it doesn’t change the substance of what was said - but that last hand villain didn’t min click it back; if it was min clicked it would be 21 bb - he scrolled it to 24 bb.

KJo hands smells a lot like villain had AJ of spades. AT,QT also check out. Definitely the Q is a very bad river, but on a blank I think a call could be warranted against certain villains.

So much learning points here. I’ve already learned so much from this series. Understanding overbluffed and underbluffed spots is incredibly helpful. I tend to convince myself of hero calls when I have relevant blockers. However, exploiting underbluffed spots seems to be much more important

Chat pro here and I really, really hate the KQo line of check-call, check-call, check-fold with top pair. Better to 4-bet pre-flop and fold to a 5-bet jam.
@CarrotCornerPoker
@CarrotCornerPoker Жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for the comment. 4-betting pre and flatting pre are both equal EV options in theory. Preflops sims will return extremely similar EVs for these plays. How a line makes you feel isn't necessarily indicative of how good the line is in EV terms. The first three streets are theoretically solid; the river is an exploitative deviation which I'm confident is very good at these stakes in a soft pool. I don't think we need to reinvent the wheel just to avoid one very specific and rare spot that makes us uncomfortable. In short, real EV is what matters. If you disagree that the spot is grossly underbluffed then fair enough, but we are beating very few to no value bets here so need to be careful that we analyse in the right way.
@Mathemagical55
@Mathemagical55 Жыл бұрын
@@CarrotCornerPoker I'm sure you're correct when you say the river is under-bluffed but how do you know that 4-betting and flatting have equal EV? If the population is overfolding (likely) and never jamming worse (very likely) then 4-betting is a much simpler exploitative deviation.

gonna be a disgusting commentpro here but I think the word is attritional. however, fuckin love Mark so gladly letting it slide. Also feeling somewhat reassured that Mark is getting headpats for thought processes that I was having watching along but would have feared were too simplistic. Great vid, thanks both

Hi Pete - I'd love a series on homework! Fundamental things you should know, and how to drill them (incl what software to use). E.g. opening /4 bet defense from every position. Knowing how you play your own range through flop turn and river incl counting combos etc

Nice turnaround. 20K hands in a week on iPoker NL50? Thats going some, given that the action moves so slowly in that pool on those tables, even multitabling. Or was it a fortnight?
