You forgot to mention one thing as far as the presentation goes: Each of the new tracks have thumbnails made specifically for them and they ROCK and breathe so much life into the characters themselves! Yoshi just chillin' on the Shy Guy Beach? Noice. Also, I agree that getting 3 stars on every cup is crazy... But I fondly felt pumped when I finally did it.

This is the last Mario Kart game where Peach races with her hair down. I don't mind the ponytail in every game following Super Circuit, but I wished Nintendo gave us a hair down Peach as an alternate skin option.

My favorite thing about super circuit is that the red shells be used as traps. laying them behind you only to have another racer pass the shell only to have it go after them.

Super Circuit. It's by no means a terrible game, but personally, just personally, I only like it a bit more than Super. I remember seeing it back in 2001 during advertisements at Wendy's, but I never played it till around 2006. It gets points for the creative track designs, wonderful music, and single-player VS mode, though. Good video.

The colors aren't nearly as close to saturated if you play the game on a GBA/SP/DS Tank! They appear saturated on modern LCDs like the DS Lite because well, they had to overcompensate for the dim old screen of the non-backlit GBA. Same was done to SNES ports, in fact. Shader filters on modern emulators can help restore the colors to their intended appearance. The controls take some time to get used to, but are definately smoother than SMK's, as now you don't move on a noticeable grid anymore ( imagine you were going in a cardinal direction but slightly turned, you'd see your cart move slowly to the side by visible increments ), and scaling sprites of the racers and obstacles improve the depth perception. If drifting is still an issue, this tip applies to both SMK and SC: after your drift, jump while turning into the opposite direction to straighten yourself back on the road. After a while, that feels less slippery than MK64, because no matter what you do, in MK64 your character takes a moment to go back to neutral facing position, and non-light characters can easily spin-out by turning left and right too quickly...

If I had nostalgia for Super Circuit rather than Super Mario Kart, then I probably would have placed it higher than it. But because that's not the case, while I won't deny that Super Circuit is technically better than Super Mario Kart, I still prefer Super Mario Kart over Super Circuit. But that's just me.

Correction: In order to unlock the Extra Cups in the specific CC you need to beat all cups first (this includes Special Cup), then beat the cups again and collect 100 coins in order to unlock it the Extra Cup. Something that most don’t know is that Coins are really important if you’re going for the 3 Star Rank, each coin is worth one point that will be counted for the Rank score.

Getting the 3 Stars in the Super Circuit cups aren’t that difficult (depends on your skill lol) but the real challenge is that getting all 3 Stars in the Extra Cups (i’m looking at you Extra Lighting Cup). They’re aren’t required for the reward but just bragging rights.

Honestly, the sprites from MK64 worked better in a 2D game for 2 reasons. First, they look out of place in a 3D game. And second, the beta sprites look ugly.

My least favorite Mario Kart game...
