This one is overheated or at least that's what the charger says. Could it be a bad thermal resistor (thermistor)? Or maybe not! I'm going to tear it down and find out!

I pulled my 7.5A/h pack apart as it would start to charge then stop and the charger would switch off. After pulling it apart I noticed the terminals were really dirty. So I carefully cleaned then and batts looked to be OK so reassembled and now its working perfectly! Thanks for showing me how to get it apart and test.

When i had this issue, i dropped it on the floor about 1 foot off the ground.... it fixed the issue 🤣 . Found that fix from a comment on reddit, and Apparently its worked for many people. For a product so expensive, these batteries are built pretty cheaply.

The one piece of advice I'd give all ego customers is this: register your batteries!! They have a good 3 year warranty if you register them, and they are very good at replacing batteries that have started losing their ability to hold a charge. I just replaced a 2.5ah, a 5ah and a 10ah battery, and all I had to do was call EGO and tell them they weren't holding a charge any more and they sent me three brand new batteries. They would have cost me about $900 or so, so that's a great deal. Now I'm set for at least another 2-3 years, and before the warranty on the new batteries goes out of date, I'll replace those as well. So now I have new batteries and the old ones as backups. REGISTER YOUR EGO EQUIPMENT AND BATTERIES!

Ego just told me they don’t put another 3 year warranty in replacement batteries. The warranty is still only based on your original purchase date. Pretty bummed because my replacement battery just died as well. And they won’t honor the additional 3 year battery warranty

the battery is too expensive to replace over the year it costs much more than the strimmer itself. Not for me unless I know I can rebuild the battery for less by myself.

THE BANG TRICK WORKED .SO glad I saw the comments about banging the battery from about a foot off the ground and dropping it. IT WORKED I had THREE bad batteries. ALL THREE have been working GREAT since May and I recharge and use the OFTEN. HOLY GUACAMOLE. Those three bad ones were here for over a year. I bought two news ones for 200 bucks a piece but something told me NOT to throw those bad ones out. THREE bad batteries now working PERFECTLY for five months with CONSTANT charging. I have the lawn mower, leaf blower and snow blower and I use the blower daily and the lawn mower once per week. HUGE area. SO glad I was the comments about BANGING the batteries. You explain things really well thank you! P.S. On a crank sensor (red / black / blue wires) how do I check the polarity of the red and black - is it OK to just swap over and see if it works?
@vuaeco
@vuaeco Жыл бұрын
Do you mean the cadence sensor for the pedal assist? Usually red is positive 5V (for most sensors), black is ground, and the third wire is variable voltage for sensor. This is exactly the same as the throttle cable. I think you can swap it with a throttle control and it should work but don't blame me if you burn your controller because I've never tried that before. I'm just guessing. :D

Also found out when attempting to replace one of my dead batteries, EGO had the info for the warrenty on file, but because they didn't have a copy of the reciept on the dead one, they would not honor it, even though they acknowledged i purchased it as a new product. They said it was up to me to find my two+ year old receipt. Rethinking about staying with EGO. Really ticked me off.

The batteries are in series. 1st battery (3.3v) contact positive side to negative side of second battery (also 3.3v) will read 6.6v. This is called series connection. Ego use 14 x 4.2v batteries (charged to 4v each) soooooooooo..... 14 x batteries at 4v each. Connected in series 14 x 4 = 56v

I am going to guess that the people who hsve had success dropping the battery are just causing the connectors to move slightly and then make a better contact. I hsve tried smacking the battery without luck. Putting them in the refridgetator for a few hours worked once or twice. I had one battery that would not charge, i put it in my blower and tried to start it.. If i could get it to run fot a few seconds , then putting the battery on the charger would give a normal charger However the capacity was nowhere near normal
