EGO batteries are super expensive but the tools they feed are by far the best. All the battery-electric lawn tool makers claim "gas-like power"; EGO delivers. I got into the EGO ecosystem after giving up on my Ryobi mower. I still use Ryobi for hand tools (and I am a satisfied buyer/collector) but for lawn/garden - EGO rules. I need a larger lot so I can justify the zero-turn, that thing is a must get item

all batteries are super expensive a Tesla battery pack cost 20k just imagine a EV UTE that can go tow to tow with a land cruiser talking about 100k just for the pack as they are to day. that said EGO battery's are well worth the price especially if your on a budget buy one battery and it works will all other EGO tools thats what i did got a select cut mower kit wit the 7.5 battery and got a tool only line trimmer and blower. my yard is the perfect size can mow then trim the edges in one charge. and only takes 45 mins to charge up again.

I purchased my ego lawnmower just three days ago, so everything here is first impression. The product is well made, easy to use, and stores in a small space. I cringed when I dropped the battery! But it survived with no issue. Make sure you adjust the self-propel control down. At the highest level, it wants to take of at high speed! lol!

I just got the Ego pole saw. It is nice and light and has a LOT of power for the weight. I've used my neighbor's gas-powered pole saw and it's as powerful as that one seems to be, but it's more convenient than either that or my old electric saw with the cord. I am thinking I'll get the weed-trimmer attachment by springtime, maybe the chainsaw also. The products seem strong. My sister has the weed-blower and family says it is VERY powerful.

Old ‘Barnaby baby,’ what a dude, pitching his heart out for Ego/ Chervon/ Flex! I actually like Burnaby, from the days of that Tool test channel he used to host. I hate to admit it, but Ive done the research, and EGO looking alright?! I recently tried out the new 40 Volt Ryobi Whisper Series 730 CFM blower, that came with two 4.0 Ah batteries. Batteries run down too quickly, and they’re real slick, easy to drop, and too big to carry the extra one in a pocket! Blower is really good, and on Turbo, really moves the air. It just deserves better batteries! The Cruise control switch is lousy design. Ima picking up a 765 CFM EGO at my local Lowe’s. Peace

I had to sell and give away my EGO chainsaw, mower and line trimmer at a very significant loss because I had three separate battery failures within a year, including a replacement battery under warranty. My wonderful local hardware store told me EGO Australia was not very consultative so as more of my 3rd Generation batteries failed, they actually gave me two of the 2nd Generation batteries from their own stock, as EGO was not very helpful with customer replacements. I was told a number of customers were having similar problems to me with the 3rd Generation batteries. Typically they would flash red and not run or charge properly. I ended up donating my line trimmer to a community garden club and selling my mower and chainsaw cheaply. I love the EGO equipment and can hardly fault it but the batteries are too expensive and unreliable and customer service is not good, in Australia. I've moved to Ozito brand and the quality of their mowers and chainsaws and batteries have been superb. In many years of using battery equipment, the only brand batteries that have failed me, are the EGO ones. PS: I sold/donated my EGO equipment with 2nd Gen batteries, the ones using the Duracell branded internal cells. I think the 3rd Gen use Samsung.

This one has good cutoff and temp charge delay, kinda about like spektrum batteries are, if used right, they keep things safe. I'll let ya'll know in a year how long this one will last since it's only a 2.5 ah battery.

I just ran the EGO weed wacker after I got it earlier today. The battery out of the box was in the RED so I fully charged it. Now I've run the battery down one notch, four green lights remaining. I want to use it hard tomorrow. Is it OK to fully charge it even though it's 80% charged or should I run it all the way until the red light comes on?
@georgedavall9449
@georgedavall9449 Жыл бұрын
Yes, it is Ok, but here you should go like the old saying says, ‘middle of the road.’ I would use it some more, and when you get to one segment on the gauge, recharge it. Try to avoid real extremes in temperature, and don’t leave it on the charger, or left on concrete floor, or in direct sunlight. These modern batteries don’t need to be run all the way down, and can be charged at different levels. They should be stored at 40% +/- charge. Common sense, really. Peace

Questions not addressed but would have been helpful: 1. What is the useful life of the battery? It seems many batteries are replaced at the 2 to 3-year mark. Would have liked this addressed. 2. What is the best way to get the full life of the battery? Charging, use, and storage "best practices" for these batteries. 3. What faults are 'fatal' and which are fixable and how to do this? 4. Many have mentioned heat issues caused by heavy use or outside temps while mowing. How to solve this? 5. Finally, what improvements, if any, have been made to extend the useful life of these $$$$ batteries?

Hi There, To obtain the longest possible battery life, it's a best practice to unplug the charger and remove the lithium-ion battery pack when not in use. For the lithium-ion battery pack storage longer than 30 days: Store the lithium-ion battery pack where the temperature is below 80 Degrees Fahrenheit and free of moisture. Store lithium-ion battery packs in a 30%-50% charged condition Every 6 months of storage, fully charge the lithium-ion battery pack. Hope this helps!

I had a very good experience at first. Before the batteries failed in less than 3 years. But the warranty replacement batteries lasted less than a year. I had 2 since I purchased 2 tools and the batteries failed at about the same time. One of the replacement batteries lasted less than 8 months, the other lasted about 10 months. Just enough time to get past the warranty period. New batteries are over $150 each. I could buy new tools cheaper. Probably gas tools this time because they are clearly better for the environment since they last longer and don't require toxic Lithium to be mined with fossil fuels and then left in a landfill. It is my opinion that these tools are both a poor choice for performance and longevity but also a poor choice for "going green". I would strongly advice someone to avoid these products.

That's true, my 7.5 battery after 3 years (that's the warranty time) just doesn't charge any more. Of course customer service take long when calling, phone rings and rings. Give you the option for call back, but they call you the next morning at 0800. Like I'm at work lol ... unfortunately I'm going to go gas for lawnmower, the only thing I'll keep is blower/trimmer with the 2.5 battery. (Cheaper). Compare to the 7.5 being about $500.

I have bought some additional batteries to use in my EGO 21 inch mower. While shopping for batteries, I compared the Ah rating of each battery and the price. I was looking for a "sweet spot". For me, the "sweet spot" was to purchase 2 of the 5 Ah batteries. I found that 2 of the 5 Ah batteries could be purchased for about the same price as the 7.5 Ah battery. Oh course, the mower runtime is not as long, but I do like the lighter weight of the 5 Ah battery. I also use these in other EGO tools that I have.

EGO in Australia are just well below par for battery quality and service. I moved to Ozito and have not had one issue with my seven batteries that are much cheaper. I have eight Ozito tools and two Ryobi tools and five Ryobi batteries. The Ryobi batteries still going strong since 2017. EGO batteries are hit and miss. Poor quality and too heavy and expensive. My three EGO batteries didn't make one year. I wouldn't use EGO ever again, even if I was given them for free. Too many red lights flashing on my batteries, sometimes after ten minutes of use. Never had issues with Ozito or Ryobi. I've done multiple reviews on all three brands. The 36V (2×18V) 14 inch chainsaws are amazing. So good in fact, I bought a second one. Same with the 36V mower. Just great. And of I ever do have an issue, Bunnings Australia are great with returns. EGO are very poor with warranty and service. Even my local hardware store that sells EGO says the company is difficult to deal with.
