This answers my question/comment from your Slim+/Immortal T video. Thank you! Interested to see your reviews of the Super 8 and Mox antennas. Local fast guys here all dropped the Diamond in favor of the Mox FWIW. Also, TrueRC is about to release an RP-SMA version of the Mox! @13:20 You said Crossfire but meant X-Lite :)

That ipex 4 connectors are a pain in the neck, broke one, they are so small it's almost Impossible to solder with a regular soldering iron. Loved the video 👌

Great overview! I'll add this to the top of our FAQ on the FB group. (btw everyone go check out the R9 FB group. A couple things I noticed: The R9 Slim+ is still only one RX, just two antennas. Probably just misspoke. The R9M does have an xt30 now, but it really doesn't "suck" power. A good internal is all everyone but the most extreme long rangers will ever need. Other than that, this has to be the best overview of the system I've seen yet. Up to date, concise, and no misinformation! Thanks :)

Yap. This is an awesome chance for us to get long range system at a crazy low price. I gotten the $29 combo a module and receiver 15hours ago. (Coz i use X lite 😅) I would still Choose crossfire combo if you want more then 1 long range quard. (More receiver)

I updated my R9M firmware on my q7s in the bay. But I cannot update my R9 Slim Plus on my Q7S, tried bottom SBUS and the module bay. No dice. I don't know what firmware my Slim is using... The antenna you had on the Red r9m module is a amateur radio antenna for 144MHz.

Quick unrelated question, the gps on your quad, how’s the accuracy? My M8N is no where near as accurate as I would like, maybe cause I sill have it in the shrink wrap? Like the R9 video im definitely getting the r9 mm

So I managed to plug my M9M onto my Quadrocopter. Feels a bit heavier now though. Will I just keep the receiver thing in my pocket or should I keep it inside that tiny drawer at the back of the radio? I bet some people have their tiny drawers full of receivers ha.

I'm wanting to use a R9MM for a wing, can you offer any suggestions on how to wire the servos and ESC to the receiver? You mentioned you would have to get power to the servos, if there's no voltage out on the R9MM does that mean they would have to be powered off a separate battery?

I'm looking to get into FPV and am looking into the X-Lite (also awaiting delivery of Tinyhawk Kit). From GearBest there is a version of the X-Lite that comes with the R9 or one that comes with the 18650 caps. Do I need the R9 receivers to bind to an emax Tinyhawk (for example). I noticed you GPS does that mean when you reach your range on how far it will go with this set up .. will it kick in and rth automatically.. or will it go the range it set up for and not worry about the RTH kicking in... what is the difference between the new frsky MX, MM, and Mini receivers? the MX says it's the upgraded version of the previous Mini/MM receivers. But they also have new Mini/MM receivers too. So there are three 'mini' size r9 receivers to choose from. They all appear to have OTA updating (not really a selling point for me). For what reasons would I choose one over the others? This is so dumb of them.

Two questions can I just use a xmplus with my r9m without a mini. As I have this other drone that i set up with gps RTH but every time I fly now it RTH on it on at about 100ft or it's range which is still in my site . Now even 300 ..it. Just does it's thing and fly back then I get control of it.. that's good it's work in all but I can't even fly far with line of sight.. what settings do I need to set to stop that. And yes I do need my RTH cause am a beginner .. lol

What up man... I need your help with something..... I got a R9m lite pro on an x lite pro using a r9 mini and I’m trying to use one model for the 2 quads that I have but it won’t let me... it says bind successfully and then immediately the red light starts to flash and it un binds. Please please help there is 0 info on this in the internet and Frsky won’t answer my emails. Thank you in advance

Great video but slim reciver got a univerted s.port pad between 2 capacitor on electronic plade but only in ver 2.1 got it from frsky support in my quadcopter it's working

Definitely curious to see results of Super 8. Not needing an adapter to convert to TBS diamond might give even better reception (given its quality is the same, of course).

DroneRacer101 I have a 3s 18650 battery in my qx7. You said that you should not connect it to 3s but is that only for external power? And is the power that is coming from the module bay also 3s power if you use 3s or is there a regulator?

Hi . I run a 3s as my internal battery on my taranis. You mentioned that you shouldn't use a 3s on it . On the instructions for the R9m it's says vin voltage range: DC 4V - 12.6V which is 3s . I understand that External power shouldn't be greater than 2s but I'm a little confused about the internal battery. Hope this makes sense 😀

I'm new to FPV and I decided to go for the Taranis X9D Plus SE 2019 with the R9M/R9 Slim+ 2019. Unfortunately I live in the EU and need the 868 MHz version. Do you know if the 868/900 MHz version are the same with a different firmware or are they physically different. Also there is no EU version of the radio. Will I be able to use it with the EU R9M/Slim+? Thank you :)

Yes it reverses that pin which is used for both SBus and FPort.

Thank you for the video, They are cheap as the are too confusing to add the correct firmware that matches any transmitter. For instance to pair a jumper t18 with r9mm is near impossible - there are so many firmware platforms that don’t match, There is no help from FrSky. Every “expert” that bothered to reply has said to avoid the r9 system. If you want to get a device in the air then AVOID the r9 by frsky

Yep, you can as long as you hook up S-Port or F-Port so you have telemetry.

Hello. What determines if it is 868mhz or 900mhz. is it firmware? Or the antenna? or the module? I'm thinking of buying this from banggood. Living in europe so must use 868mhz. But how do I know what I get?

It’s mostly the firmware. If you get one flashed with FC firmware you can reflash it with eu firmware. The stock antenna are the same for both. You can get a custom tuned antenna for eu or fcc but I still mostly use the TBS antenna.

Hi Mark, at 9:22 I noticed that you already have gps installed on your M515.. I have been trying to get GPS working on mine for more than 72 hours now. No soft serial worked for me and I have tried PPM pin and also LED strip pin without success. My rxtx3 it taken by the smartaudio and rxtx6 by the smartport for telemetry of the r9mm receiver. I first tried to get Fport working from the r9mm receiver, also without success. My plan was to get control and telemetry on one wire so I can have a uart free for gps. I tested my BN-180 on a logic analyzer and it works just fine, it's the mamba controller that doesn't want to play. Please help me out with some tips on how you did it.

Unfortunately that is a project I never finished. It’s connected and works in Betaflight, but I couldn’t get it to pick up enough satellites to actually work. I haven’t had a chance to get back to it.

@@SimRacer101 Thank you for answering. That stage will also work for me. The reduced number of satellites can possibly be from proximity to a vtx antenna. Please share how you connected and betaflight secret cli lines :) .Thank you in advance!

you can use a 3s INSIDE your radio ONLY - external 2S only - i use a 3s internal no problems

The difference between the two that look the same is the firmware that you can download from frsky.doesn’t matter which one you buy as long as you load the firmware on it! That way you can run fport also

Newbie question: what’s the difference between the R9 receivers and something like an XM+? Is just the range? Do I gain anything for stop using the xm+ and start using the R9 instead? Thanks

Filipe D the r9 system uses the 900mhz frequency whereas the xm+ is a 2.4GHZ system... Typically you will get longer range with a lower frequency which also equates to a longer wave length

@@filiped7298 only the price. Xm+ is a good and cheap reciever for a regular use, but it only has rssi.If you wanna go far or fly your quad on abandoned places where you can loose your signal you have to choose this kind of system. For racing or flying close the xm+ is perfect.

Do you mean quadcopters? Those do for sure. Helicopters I have only seen a few people do FPV with.

on my experience: X-lite + R-XSR: worth range: 250m, best range 550m. X-lite + R9M + R9 mini or slim +: worth range: 50m, best range 350m under 25mW X-lite + R9M + R9 mini or slim+: worth range: 150m, best range 600m under 100mW (No telemetry, lol ! we are in 2018) All in the same field, with lastest firmeware. A sold all this R9 shit and gone back into 2.4Ghz !!

All stuff is provided by FrSky and non modified. but how can they sell antennas that work in 868mhz, 900mhz and 915 mhz at the same time ? Should they all have the same length ? I tested the range without a quad, only battery + receiver, it's exactly the same problem. FrSky don't want know about that, they said " 50m only? it's fine, it work !"

Hey. I have no clue what my range is. But on the 2.4GHz I could only fly 800m before the rrsi got to low. I will try R9 on a areoplane with return to home this summer.
