Looks like my dad’s basement when we cleared it. (Made me cry). But he was raised during the depression and saved everything. The younger generation would do well to emulate their grandparents. Bless him. He never knew when he might need it! He was a DIY person and always frugal.

Definitely their generation. We certainly could learn a few lessons.

Cottage cheese can be frozen for three months and then be used in hot dishes like quiche or lasagne. Not great to eat it cold as the texture changes, but cooked it taste the same as fresh.

We have the equivalent of the rag-and-bone man that comes around our way (although they don’t call out or use horse and cart like they used to! ☺️). People leave out all sorts of broken things; tools, appliances, anything, and they drive round and pick it up!

We used to have the rag and bone man where we lived before. You had to be careful not to accidentally leave anything metal out that you wanted to keep, though!

My Dad had a lot of gardening tools so i put a notice in the garden club i was in then (26 yrs ago) and the head gardener at a local charity hq came and took it all except for a few useful things i kept.

Hi, you could always blend your cottage cheese with some eggs and either make a quiche or make a frittata. Heather

We have an account with our local scrap metal dealer and all our metal - food cans and drink cans included - go there. Might be worth considering. Last year we made around £300!

Everything looks delicious. I eat peaches with my cottage cheese. Tonight's dinner for us was shepherd pie, one of my favorites. Now I'm off to do a little gardening and weed pulling.

Hi Jane, for the tools have you got a men’s sheds initiative near you? That is what I am doing with the excesses of my Dads tools that we can’t use ( we are combining ours with his collection).

I have 2 pots of cottage cheese in my fridge as well. I've only bought them to try a new fad. Mix with eggs and some herbs and you can make wraps using a tray and cook in oven. I hope they taste as good as I seen online 😂

I think our Dads could have been great friends. ; ) Dad's garage looks much the same. When I step into Dad's garage it smells like him...like motor oil and saw dust and just plain hard work.

Awww! It does feel sad clearing it

@@ShoestringJane I'm having to clear some things from my parents' house and it's heartbreaking. Fortunately my oldest daughter will be inheriting the house (she cared for Mom in her last years) so we can keep a lot of their things.

I loved this video and thank you for the ideas. I use the cottage cheese as a filling for a crustless quiche. Though to be honest, I do like to use thin slices of courgette as my base. Then I can saute any number of veg lwft in my fridge, mix the cottage cheese with eggs and a bit iof whatever cheese I have, add the cooled sauted veg and pour on top of my courgette base. I love this hot or cold. It is also grat with added jalapeno peppers to give it a bit of a kick. Love your videos.

Good luck with the garage. These decluttering jobs can get so overwhelming. Do you have time to do it while doing your own writing/selling work? I find decluttering the garage always gets put on the backburner unless I take time off.

I have had to take a few days off to do it so far. On the final stretch now, I hope!
