Chili Mac was really popular when I was growing up. Not enough leftover chili for everyone to have a full bowl? Boil some macaroni and either add it to the chili, or serve the chili over top...top with cheese and pepper flakes or hot sauce.. I still do this with leftover chili.

I was cleaning out the fridge and making chili. I found about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of pineapple and thought WTH might as well add it instead of sugar. Now it is the only way my family will eat the chili. Make it spicy and then the sweetness is a great contrast.

When I make my own homemade tomato sauce, I use carrots for the acidity. I buy the ones you peel. So I cut the heads off, peel them, then throw them in whole. I fish out the big chunks, but whatever melts in is good by me. Never used sugar to help cut the acidity.

And on the opposite side, I didn't know that chili with beans was a thing until I was 17 years old ! My family is from Texas though so it was always a big bowl of Texas red, aka chile con carne. Then I met my now-husband and his mom made chili with kidney beans and I thought she had lost her mind. I've since had it with pinto beans and with black beans, but still prefer the real chili con carne without beans.

I got my daughter (who's 22) to start eating spaghetti squash this past fall. She was skeptical but realized it really doesn't taste like much of anything unless you add sauce or butter or olive oil to it plus of course cheese. One great use for any leftover (unseasoned) spaghetti squash is to squeeze as much water out as possible and make little hash browns. It's a great low carb sub for russet potatoes. I usually pan fry it in bacon fat.

Christine, one tip I got years ago that can really change the flavour is to use brown sugar instead of white for the tomatoes. Try a really dark brown sugar for a more spicy chili, it gives a bit of a different kick to the flavour. My son isn't a spicy kid so we use maple flavour canned brown beans and just a teaspoon or 2 of a lighter brown sugar. The Cake Boss did a dinner recipe show years ago and he said to use a teaspoon of sugar for each can of tomatoes.

I can't eat beans, but I used to love when my mom made chili with them! At my house to make it taste and feel more well rounded, I use quinoa cooked with chicken or beef bullion instead! A half dry cup cooked is enough for a whole Dutch oven sized pot! (I Cook separate and then add, gets weirdly textured otherwise lol) And it continues to soak in the flavors and become more delicious like chili does as leftovers :D

One of my favorite ways to use up salsa is a Mexican casserole. Use precooked shredded chicken, 2 cans of cream of chicken soup, and a jar of salsa. Mix that together. Sometimes I add a little water. In the bottom of a 13x9 casserole pan, put crushed tortilla chips ( especially the end of a chip bag or two where all the little pieces are anyways). You want a decent amount of the chips on the bottom of the pan. Put chicken mixture over the chips, top with cheese of your choice and bake at 350 until hot and bubbly. Serve with sourcream! Delicious and helps use up ingredients!

Watch the original Japanese version of The Grudge, it way creepier but so much better. The one I watched had English subtitles rather than being dubbed which makes a big difference

This is my favorite type of your videos. I cook this way often: looking at what I have hanging out in the fridge/freezer/pantry and coming up with meal ideas. It's almost always good. I like being creative this way with my cooking.

When I make chili, I love to have it over salad greens with some tomato and green onion. Then top with some grated cheese and a sour cream dollop. I used to love Wendy's taco salads, that is why I started having my chili like that.

I make chili with the same spices except I add cumin also. And I add brown sugar for the sweet. I love these videos that inspire me for dinners for the week. I’ve also gotten better at cleaning out the fridge as part of the meal planning.

You can cut the acidity and add a little mole-like flavor by using sweetened chocolate (or semi sweet with some sugar). It's pretty darn good - adds a little richness to chili

My clean out the old veggie soup today --- make roux, add broth and soy mylk, add instant potatoes, add powdered mushrooms, garlic powder, onion powder, dried chives, then run it all through blender to deal with any lumps, return to pot, which now has sauteed onions, garlic, plus water and last of the frozen mixed veg (I like that one from Aldi's with wax beans, carrots and green beans). Simmer. Add remaining frozen greens (I wash, chop, freeze my kale or collards then toss into whatever savory dish for additional nutrition). Bring back to simmer regularly stirring to avoid scorching. In each serving of hot soup, I first put some frozen corn and peas that brings it down to eating temp and adds more veg without overcooking or losing their unique flavor/color. My German grandma would have put in homemade spaetzel during the last simmer, but this was fine without. You can add smoked salt like I did, or Tarragon vinegar like she would at the table. Very filling good for lunch in winter dish.

I added 1-1.5 cups of shredded carrots to my chili. Cuts the acidity. I add refried beans or lentils to my chili instead of kidney beans. I find they blend in better than kidney beans.
