Roger that Graham... You have done a gr8 job on these videos Doofer911.... Concise & Easy to understand is a BIG thing in this environment. Many can fly...so few can teach and fly !!!. I got to fly in the TWA simulators years ago due to my father, who was a TWA Capt. .It was an amazing experience to do something that most non pilots never get a hint of let alone get to do. I have done the same thing as I have flown FSX and other sims for years and have decided that I am going back to the basics... Great job mate.... Cheers

I would very much welcome a tutorial on holding patterns, particularly visualizing them (and the entry procedures) while flying. Thank you very much for all the great videos so far. Very helpful!

Hi mate, love your videos. Some ideas on videos: - Full flight including more tutorial on flight planning - how to fly proper circuits - Flying in busy airspace - Start up various aircraft in cold and dark states - Flying larger aircraft working upwards in size and power - Showing different 3rd party websites that help to plan flights, navigation aids, planning fuel etc Keep going on your video's. Certainly helping me. Cheers

This series has been such a great help. Thanks Doofer911. I've been combat flight simming for a very long time now but never bothered to learn how to fly modern aircraft. This series has been perfect for helping me learn the modern systems.

I love your series of videos. I too have been flying the FS series for years but never really did it the right way. Because of your series I have learned how to do it the right way. I was in awe when you showed how to do an ILS landing. You have made my FSX experience so much better. Thank you so much. Keep up the great work.

Whatever you do PLEASE LEAVE THIS VIDEOS UP Doofer!!!!! You Rock and these videos are a tremendous help!!!! My only regret is I dont have the $$$ needed to go do it for real. Guess I will have to scratch my "Airplane Itch" with the simulator alone!!!! HEHEHE

I'm glad, my intention was to try and use flight simulation to teach people about real world concepts. I remember making this video, at the time I thought I'd done as much as I needed to but I've stuck with it and learned a whole wealth of information and no sign of stopping anytime soon ;)

Hi Doofer, FSX Series Finale?! I don't think so!!! At least I hope not!!! First, I hope your having to move goes smoothly and quickly! Secondly, once your settled in and doing youtube videos again, there are still lots of tutorials you can make. As an example, I've just recently gotten A2A's C-182 Skylane, and trying to make the VS and Altitude Hold work on the autopilot had me pulling my hair out. The difference between FSX default aircraft, and add-on aircraft can be quite different. Looking online for a tutorial for the autopilot is how I found your channel.( I am also a new subscriber!) Alas, I had to look elsewhere, but I've watched a lot of your videos and found them very, very good, and very, very helpful. I plan on watching every single one of them as I've learned some new stuff, and also some things that I have forgotten over the years. With Dovetail's FSX:SE, the simulator is still very much alive, and with all the add-ons coming out from A2A, Carenado, Orbx, Rex and all the others, it's going to be around for quite awhile longer. There is, and will be, a wealth of information for you to make videos on. I'll be watching your channel on a regular basis, so good luck and keep up the good work!!!! PS: If you haven't seen the coverage of FLIGHTSIMCON 2016, check it out. It will blow your mind!!!

Nah definitely not, this was ages ago when I'd covered the basics of just how to control an aircraft, then I realised there was so so much more to learn about aviation and thus the channel is still going strong today! I'm committed to trying to become a full time KZfaqr soon so once I sort out a few personal things, I'll try and get back into having a new tutorial every week.

I literally stumbled across your channel today by accident but I have to say your content is absolutely superb. Very clear and you really make everything so easy to understand. Improve your production if you wish but keep the quality of content above all else. Your channel deserves more subs. Suggestions for videos - Approach and Departure procedures - Use of lights. Maybe even a full flight from start up right through to shut down but incorporating the areas you've covered. e.g. a VOR flight including ILS landing but from and to an area you haven't covered so far. Sorry for long comment :-) Great Channel though.
@Doofer911
@Doofer911 9 жыл бұрын
Sabre You're making me blush with all these comments! haha, thanks for the suggestions though. I've actually been trying to read Approach charts recently so I'll definitely talk about those in a future video. As for a full flight, I definitely want to do one in a twin engine prop. Been working hard to try and increase my output to one video a week so it's not leaving me much time to fly for the fun of it but I think I'll do a full flight so people can see what it's like to fly "seriously" with one of the default planes.

Doofer911 Credit where it's due, you deserve the praise. I've looked for quite some time for clear, easy to understand guides for FSX that explain everything from the ground up. A few friends bought FSX on Steam and are starting from scratch and your videos are the best out there in my opinion.

Let me be the first to comment Doofer.....Your vids are first class....I have them all on save & I'm learning this new sim world from them. I find the circuits & bumps at you favorite airfield the best for controlled flying....still struggling a wee bit with the navigation!! Re: your future videos, maybe the move up to twin engine aircraft?....Whatever you do.....please don't fly off into a highlands sunset!!
@Doofer911
@Doofer911 9 жыл бұрын
abs orton Cheers Abs, one thing I've found is to always try and picture the top down view of things when you're navigating, might make it a little easier to work out, draw it out as well because that can help. As for twin engine aircraft, that's given me a great idea! I'll do a run of videos progressing through the different engine and aircraft types, Prop > Turboprop > Twin Engine > Small Jets > Big Jets > Biggest Jets!

Doofer911 Sounds like a good transition Doofer. C172 through to ???? I have another suggestion for your video subjects......FSX the game itself....Tweaks, Adjustments, Add on comparisons etc. I'm finding my FSX 10 installation very 'Iffy' with very sluggish responses to my Saitek yoke, trim, throttle & rudder controls.....not to mention system crashes!! Elementary help for elementary simmers is urgently required!!......(Sounds like I'm blaming my tools)!!!! Keep up your good work.
@Doofer911

abs orton C172 through to a 747! :D With regards to tweaks and things, I don't know if I can do a comprehensive video on them but I'll certainly look at some of the most common and popular tweaks. Unfortunately it's not an exact science because everyone has a different computer setup so one tweak that might work well for me might not work well for you etc. Add-on comparisons...I'd love to but I can't afford various add-ons. I'd highly recommend checking out a KZfaqr called FroogleSim. He's been in the flight sim community for a long time and he's a reviewer for PC Pilot magazine. I'm subscribed to his channel myself and he's releasing videos frequently and he's got much more experience reviewing various planes, add-ons, scenery in FSX, Prepared (which is a fancier version of FSX) and XPlane. With regards to controls, it might be worth increasing the controller sensitivity in the FSX settings. I had to do that with my joystick.
@Abs8648
@Abs8648 9 жыл бұрын
Doofer911 I agree, tweaking is a varied science, but info on things like checking/changing 'frame speed' etc...or....Things to tweak to minimize 'Memory overload' would be great for a newcomer to the game. I watch Froogle and enjoy his channel .....I have learned a few things from him, but he tends to deal with the subject at a level that I don't yet understand!! I have increased my control settings as suggested.......I am now regularly following your 'circuit pattern' video with much improved response from me & my aircraft controllers!!......Thanks again for your help & excellent tutorials. Keep them coming.

Hi Doofer. As a student of yours, I have progressed in flightSim (FSX SE) to the point where I will soon have to make a decision as to which way to go for the best experience; XP-11, 0r Prepared V4. I would like to see you interview the 'heavies' from both to provide their intentions for the coming year, and each year for the next three years. I would hope for you to ask re future pricing, volunteer community support, payware aircraft, scenery, VR, missions etc. this would colour my view as to which sim to follow, and how much upgrade is going to be needed to reach a 'sweet spot' of performance.
@Doofer911

Hey Doofer, quick question, I have the project Airbus package and i have been using the A380 and I've loved it, but i have had problems on Final. On final everything is setup for landing but i notice that i am coming up short of the runway. Btw i have my auto throttle on. I also seem to be a bit off on the runway. Thanks!

@@Doofer911 The questions I posted was under the video you posted in your reply after I watched this video and could not find the info I am seeking. Specifically I am trying to understand: 1. Nearest Intersection - How to use this info in flight? 2. Nearest Airspace - How to use this info in flight? 3. MSG BUTTON - What to do about the AIRSPACE and other messages? Is there an expected action the pilot needs to take? 4. What does the MENU button do? I believe your video stopped just after your explanation of the CLR button? 5. How to fly with the VECTORS TRANSITION and ATC? 6. What is the difference between Activate Vectors-To-Final and Activate Approach? 7. I'm sure this 66 year old will have more questions as I learn to use the GPS 500 features with your amazing help!!!
