God bless you. I'm a sophomore at Penn State and I was crying today because I'm stressed out with my grades. I was telling myself all day that I wouldn't get into medical school because I'm not succeeding how I know I can. I'm going to get it together and push myself harder. These are the only videos I need to watch to encourage me. I'm not going to watch the other unrealistic ones that leave me highly discouraged anymore. Thanks so much.

Wow, thanks for the inspiration! I will be taking the mcat on Jan 25th. I only study a few hours a day since I work full time as a charge nurse with 2 kids. I also workout 5 days a week for about 1.5hrs after work. I've been studying since August. I can't believe how much Chemistry we have to study! So excited to do well on the exam.

hello Marisa Pinto , I am trying to get to med school too. Has it been a good thing for you becoming a Nurse first then going med school? do the credits transfer or you had to go back to school for pre-med? thanks

TymWithLia The clinical experience has been a good thing except It's been 15 years since I received my undergrad. I need a Premed post- bacc program so that is what I've been applying for. I should hear back from the schools in Feb/Mar. It'll take an extra year but I have to accept it and it'll increase my chances of getting into med school. What is your situation?
@MaliaDinko
@MaliaDinko 9 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the helpful reply. i am now getting my undergrad and since, I take care of myself and some family back home in Africa I was not sure if getting a good degree like nursing first will give me something to fall back on if I ever changed my mind. or something to help pay some bills while in med sch. And I also wanted to know if a nursing degree will just be accepted as a premed course.?
@mpbyns2
@mpbyns2 9 жыл бұрын
TymWithLia It all depends on the science courses you were required to take during your nursing program. Most med schools require a couple semesters each of chem, organic chem, biology, biochem, and physics (all with labs). Also the math requirements are different for each school.

This is some great advice. I've been a fan of your videos for a while, but I think the first few minutes of this one were some of the best: study 45-50 minutes per hour. I had no idea our information consumption maxes out at just under an hour. Plus, this method offers much-needed breaks, and without the guilt.

My man. You are incredible. Love your enthusiasm and I hope that some day you are instructing students. You have a passion for teaching and it's really inspirational. I'm going through the process now at 34 yrs of age and I have had people say "you're too old." I have now tuned out all the negative people and I am focused on doing what I need to do for me. Thanks for the great video!

Thank you for mentoring, I'm 64 but I am passing your info and lectures on to those who will benefit from your down to earth facts. I've been to too many smart doctors who don't care and don't find out what's wrong. The person who has to fight to obtain a goal cherishes it. So I'm hoping some good people will try and succeed with your help, and encouragement to become a rising physican.

I've have found that many medical school coaches are saying that it really does not matter what your bachelor's is in. As long as your gap was high and you score well on the MCAT's. I would think being a nurse would give you an advantage that many others may not have. It definitely gives you the clinical experience that is required. You probably also have a lot of folks you can get recommendations from etc.

Great videos. I would add that one must also consider applying to osteopathic and off-shore allopathic schools which generally have more liberal admission criteria but still lead one toward becoming a doctor. But no matter how high your numbers, it's helpful to keep in mind that there will always be setbacks, hurdles, disappointments. The stress of exams/applications/proving oneself is part of the long term process of a medical career- so try to enjoy each step and have a good support system.

My undergrad was Bio intensive so I have a solid understanding of the BS section. Like a lot of people, I was initially very weak in Physical Science (PS). I have to say though, motivation can really move your scores. Physics seems much easier to me than it ever has, and gen chem is becoming less convoluted every day. Heres hoping for a 35+ in a few months~

Thank you for the spirit . Everyone tells me I have the intelligence to get through Med school, or maybe Dental school, but I never believed I had the determination or work ethics for it because it would essentially mean I would have to study for nearly 10 years and not really have a social life. This really gave me more motivation to strive for dental school.

You are so inspirational!!! I also believe that words are very powerful. Your words that you speak over yourself can make or break you. Regardless of the circumstances that we might have to encounter on a daily basis, we can still do it if we put our mind to it. According to God's word in Proverbs- For as he thinks in his heart, so he is! You have to to confess clear cut objectives for you life. You have to be very specific! I will be a Psychiatrist, specializing in psychosomatic medicine.

I think not having any extracurricular activities will not give you the absolute best chance. Since it is such a competitive field they take the MCAT's GPA and extra activities and narrow it down. So i would advise you to have all three at the highest level possible. However, it sounds like you might have one of the hardest parts down already. A 40 on the MCAT's man...I'd focus on getting your GPA up as high as possible and throw in some extra activities and I'd say your chances are strong!
