In this video I show a step by step process on how to open a jammed fuel gas filler cap on a Opel Vauxhall Insignia 2009 on wards models.

I would always advise checking your part number before ordering in case of part revisions on certain years.
This was a 2015 model and the full part number is 008066-70 13501151

Omg thanks for this video I've been using a screw driver (yeah I know ) popped the door open just to fill up I've taken the body plate off the fuel cap arm so I can move that seized pin over. Definitely will remove the actuator now.

Great info, cheers! My 09 Jag XFS has this problem and I can only hope and guess that this procedure will be very close to resolving my issue. If there’s one thing I’ve learned about cars, it’s that having nicer ones is more hassle! 😄

Thanks for the vid. I had this problem on my Mokka whilst trying to fuel-up at the petrol station. In a panic I managed to pull the cap cover off allowing me to access the filler cap. I have since ordered a new actuator from ebay @£11.99, Just waiting for delivery.

Some bad design features on the Insignia, flue flap as above, fuel pump drop the tank, fuel filter housing feel very flimsy, fuel pump electrical connections behind the wheel arch liner ideal for wet and corrosion friend had one but not again, slightly off topic enjoyed the video.

I had the same issue with a vaxuhall astra, what I did was force pull the fuel cap using the key (the whole thing will will wedge open with the rubber), pull it from the side where you usually press to open it. You can then also force open the cap slightly (careful not to break it). You will then find what he was showing at then end (how the mechanism work). Just use a screwdriver or your key to pull it.

I pried open the flap and it will slide out from right to left allowing access to the cap. Using strong plastic levers saved the paintwork and at this stage I could see the tip of the black plastic actuator arm. I forced this back and was able to open the full flap without the 4" circular bodywork disk attached.

Thanks for the vid. I managed to release the lock but it resets itself after a cycle through the locking procedure. So I have to push the solenoid open each time I need to fill the tank. Basically it locks but does not unlock. At least I know what to as a workaround. Vauxhall Astra SRi 1.7 Diesel 57 reg.

I just levered against the white clip that joins the solenoid to the black arm. It snapped easily and allowed me to withdraw the arm plus half of the white clip intact leaving the faulty solenoid connected and in situ.

Thank you Gerard, I followed your instructions and managed to solve the problem. Or thou, I ran into some trouble...the Actuator Arm was so jammed I ended up braking the tip still in the lid. With wiggle and pushing the lid in and out the tip fell out. Strange thing is, your solenoid was really stuck while mine moved in and out easy. Only when I pushed, but still wouldn’t release. Very helpful video, thanks again 👍

I have a 2010 diesel insignia, was recently serviced but orange spanner light is on, I reset the oil to 100 but orange light is still on, can you tell me what would be the likely cause? Thanks

Great vid, sir! I am having a slightly different issue. Mine opens, however, it's not closing properly (stays slightly open) and needs a little extra push after locking the car to fully close.. maybe someone will ignore this issue but for me it's really annoying :) I am interested in your opinion on how to resolve this? Appreciate any help!

Nothing came up on the dash, I did not run a system scan as there was no need, customer needed fuel and didn't want to damage the cap, hence was it was removed without new part fitted the same day.

just use a screwdriver,mine would'nt open i just removed pot rivets then re pot riveted you must make sure cap is straight when you re-attach or else you'll have to do all over again
