Serious;y it’s worth it now they have the new 100mp out. I used on location in Iceland for 3 weeks and it outperformed the Hasselblad for colour, lenses, focus and ease of use. I have a behind the scenes /process in Lightroom to photoshop I did for @fuji_Uk if your interested :) james

Thanks so much Christian for watching and commenting. In a sense you are correct, that prints, enlargements is where the GFX would shine, however medium format has characteristics that are different to smaller sensors. Besides the fact that your depth of field would be shallower at the same aperture, distance and equivielent FOV, the look of the out of focus areas, the dynamic range and performance at higher ISO's have to be factored in and give medium format the advantage. However lugging it around is a disadvantage and you may miss opportunities that the XT2 provides you with. I just finished a job where I was shooting both my XT2 and GFX and even though I noticed these small thing in quality, in reality my client was happy with all the work and couldn't tell which was which. The XT2 is a great camera and if you are happy with its performance, then you cannot go wrong. I actually still run an iMac that is around 6 years old. I loaded it with tons of ram, around 20GB and I run an SSD for my software, which makes all the difference. In fact it now performs better then when I first bought it. Obviously the new ones are incredible, but depending on your budget, i cannot see you going wrong with an middle point in specs, even just adding a SSD to a lower spec machine may perform well for you. The beauty of apple is that yes you pay more, but there is no way my PC would have given me 6-7 years of trouble free computing, especially the amount of work I would put it through. Good luck.

Ignoring the more enjoyable use of the GFX for the time being, if you were to retake that fabulous portrait of Robert at Kalk Bay using an X-T2 and a comparable lens, say the XF 90mm f2, or the XF 50-140 f2.8, do you think you could get the same fabulous result? I think my next purchase has to be a remote flash set up and the 50-140 f2.8. and see how far I can progress with those. You're getting me focused in to what I really enjoy; taking fewer but more considered photos. Thanks for that. Best wishes

TheSurfheart Thanks for watching. No HSS, just shooting at the max sync speed of 125th. If I want shallow depth of field, I just use a ND filter. My personal preference is not to use HSS when shooting straight forward portraits as it dramatically affects recycle time, always great to be able to shoot half or full power flash with quick recycle. If it is a fast paced shoot in full sun, HSS is non negotiable. I used the Godox 360 bare bulb flash, good power in portable size.

Thanks Joas, it was a while back, I was using the godox ad400 with battery pack, these days I use two godox ad200’s together with combined head unit. Very easy setup and has full TTL for fujifilm.

Thanks for the comment. I carry ND filters for my XT2, but unfortunately did not have step up rings to use them on the GFX, so I shot at 125th sync speed, 100 ISO at f8 or f11. To create the impression of shallow depth of field at f8, I set my subject close to me with the longer lens against a distant backdrop which gives a pleasing background that has just enough detail to tell what it is. If you want shalllow depth of field, either shoot at 125th with an ND filter, roughly 5 stops in full sun or there are now options available for Fuji HSS. Godox flashes are now full TTL and HSS with Fuji gear. HSS however has slower recycling times and less full power. NDs work very well for portraits in full sun, cheers.

I think the old Pentax 6 x7 had a flash sync of 1/30th, some of the 35mm film cameras I owned had flash sync of 1/60th - they worked okay and took good pics.

Richard Rivera thanks for watching. Just a first impression, not intended as a full review, so yes lots left out. I talk about all three shutter types around the 14:20 mark. Only two shutter functions work with flash, which all my portraits were shot with, so the fully silent, electronic shutter unfortunately does not come into play, so shutter vibration, although not bad, is part of flash work. Flash has to either be with fully or partial mechanical shutter, but with the new e-front shutter, vibration is nicely reduced, especially if shooting in low light and flash, with 60th or below shutter speeds hand held. Available or natural light shooters benefit from the same features found on the XT2. Hopefully in future I'll comment further on the sensor. Thanks again.

nick reynolds thanks for the info, yes a little further into the video, I mention the dial. On the gfx, it has a little function button labelled +/-, once pressed the front dial handles the comp. Actually any function button on the body can be programmed to do this, so not a deal breaker, some may even prefer, I just personally prefer a dial. Thanks for watching and giving feedback, cheers

right on . I'm basically sold on this camera I will be skipping right over the full frame and going to medium and I know that has some limits to it.. as you said I will have to be more methodical with shooting. I like this challenge this and I think it will ultimately hone my skills as I grow. my main uses will be for landscape and architecture photography with the intent to print large and sell fine art. thanks for your video. it was helpful....now to obtain about 10000$

Morten Fog, thanks for watching. On this shoot I did not use a ND filter, that image was shot at f9. I do however use a ND for most of my portrait shoots with off camera flash and my Fuji gear when I want to shoot wide open for shallow depth of field. I use Hoya ND's and a 4 and 6 stop cover most situations, allowing flash sync. Cheers

Thanks Jeff for the comment and question. As shown and mentioned towards the end, you are viewing out of camera jpgs with very minimal editing. Only slight contrast, shadow and highlight adjustment, and mainly removing red from skin, but very little done to the jpg. The “boost” your talking about is probably the fact I’ve under exposed the shot by a stop and a bit, bringing in background colour and detail, then I lit him with the flash, creating that separation and impact. Not sure about your point towards the end, but yes the gfx has a 1/125th sync. I would say it used to be a concern for me, especially shooting wide open in full sun, but now there is a host of powerful ttl Fuji flash options, allowing faster speeds, to the point that I no longer carry ND’s. Thanks.

Hi Luis, the 110mm is a faster lens at f2 (wider aperture), so in general, most would opt for it over the 120mm f4 for portraits. The 120mm however would do a great job, it costs less and offers the both macro and the stabilisation feature. You have to be more accurate and steady with the 110 wide open, but it will offer the highest quality.

thanks Emmet, it was standard Provia, but I did do small colour adjustments, like reducing red in skin, along with usual tone curve and contrast adjustments. I have since edited these in RAW, amazing, lots of dynamic range, lots of possibilities with these files.

Thanks for watching. Yip thats what you get with a demo camera going from photographer to photographer, as well as put out on display at all the launch demos. I just put up the jpegs from the shoot straight after with minimal adjustments done to get the video out asap. I have since edited the RAW's for myself and have done all the necessary. I'll also leave the cleaning of a medium format sensor to Fuji, I'm not touching. Cheers

Godox has made huge strides over the last 5 years or so, I'd say they are one of the biggest and best quality aftermarket companies out there, you should check out their range. Tommy Wu yes correct, all my off camera flash portraiture is done with no TTL and HSS. For shallow depth of field I use a ND filter. TTL and HSS can be obtained using roboshoot and new cactus triggers.

Theoria Apophasis thanks for watching. As mentioned in the video, Ive got a few things to consider, is it a need or a want? At this point it's looking almost certain I would. I'm in a unique position being a X photographer for Fuji. If I only needed the GFX a few times a year, Fuji would allow me to use it, no problem. In exchange I do a lot of representative work for them, and they use my images, we have a good relationship. As portraiture is a massive part of my work, owning a GFX would be ideal as I travel a fair amount and would use it almost daily. So yes, in a couple months there is a strong possibility that I will be purchasing one with possibly 2 lenses. Cheers

Daniel Nguyen thanks for watching, sorry non of the shots were shot wide open, so certainly not a bokeh demonstration. ND's or HSS would have been needed for full sun portraits and flash. I did feel that at f9, the out of focus areas looked very pleasing. Hopefully in future I'll do a video showing work done all shot wide open with and without flash.

En la página de Fuji, aunque hay fotos, no sabemos en qué condiciones se tomaron y a quien encargo Fuji que las hiciese
