Hi, Everyone!
In today's video, I compare the X100V with the X-Pro3. These two cameras have many similarities as well as a few key differences. In this video, I share some of my thoughts (from the perspective of an X-Pro3 user) after using the X100V for a few weeks.
DISCLAIMER: I did purchase the X100V to test it out for a few weeks. I am in love with the way this camera works, but I don't see the need for it in my workflow, so I will be returning it. For me, the X-Pro 3 gives me everything I need. I would love to keep the X100V, but I just can't justify it right now.
If you enjoy this video, please give it a like and subscribe for more. Thank you for watching!!
If you have used either or both of these cameras, I would love to hear what you think about them! Why would you choose one over the other? Please let me know in the comments below.

Interesting. I ended up getting a x100v as a side kick to my Nikon full frame gear 1.5 years ago. Months ago, I got rid of ALL my Nikon gear. X100v only ever since and love it. I don’t do events or semi-pro stuff anymore. Just family, vacations, personal stuff. For the occasional upper body portrait, I got the tele converter for that 50mm look and the Ef-60 flash. For me, it has been truly liberating to surrender all that gear (bodies, lenses…) and just have „the“ camera. No lenses to choose from, no peak design carrying system, no dedicated bags. Just a/the camera to throw into my bag, maybe 2 spare batteries for a longer trip. Done. Limitation can be a bliss (if you don’t do photography for a living).

Thanks for sharing your impressions!! I just ordered a x100v… I really wanted to have the most compact camera I could get without sacrificing image quality. The Ricoh GR is great, but I think not as capable overall… And I’ve been a Fuji user for a while so the Fuji experience is almost second nature to me… it will complement my GFX 50R that has become my main camera now…

YT is definitely a dangerous place lol! I don’t know how many videos I watched on the x100f before pulling the trigger on it, only a few months before the x100v dropped. I ended up selling my x100f and buying the x100v. I’ve been solely shooting with the x100 for over a year and a half now, and I absolutely love it and I definitely fell back in love with photography again thanks to the x100. I really like the design of the x-pro3 and been watching tons of YT videos on it which is probably how I came across your video. Really great review video, and beautiful shots!!!! I was born and raise in SB before moving to the Bay Area many years ago, so it was super nice to shots of SB!!

I have both. Picked up the x100v because I wasn’t satisfied about the sharpness of the regular 23f2 I have on my X-pro 3. The lens on the x100v is definitely sharper. I’m hoping for an update that lets us use the built in ND for video

Love the sound of that X-Pro3 shutter! But the leaf shutter is a perfect balance between being completely silent to not draw attention and having some audio feedback when taking a shot, and it suits the discreet form factor of the X100V like a glove.

I sold my X100T to get an XT3 instead of a V. I loved that little camera though. I’m wondering if I made the right choice. I loved the form factor but didn’t really use the OVF and wanted better WR and faster AF. In your opinion, how does the focus compare, especially with eye AF and low light with regards to focus hunting and speed etc.
@TheZachMendez
@TheZachMendez 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for watching! I really think that the X100V is comparable to the other cameras like the X-T3 and X-Pro3. Personally, I wouldn't really consider AF a factor in the decision making. I think the biggest benefit or limitation depending on how you see it is the fixed lens. There are actually a lot of things I prefer about the X100V over my X-Pro3- built in ND filter, leaf shutter, more compact, etc. But they are all great cameras so you can't go wrong. I hope this helps - thanks so much for watching! :)

@@ddiegorosa Good Evening. I cannot see an appreciable difference between the two. The function for me as two separate tools. The V is my go to camera most of the time. I only have the xpro3 for use with a wide angle 16mm/2.8 lens and a Viltrox 50/1.4. I do have a Viltrox 23mm/1.4 as well. However, if I am walking the streets when on holiday, I use the V. If I had to choose only one camera, it would be the V. As far as eye af, I rarely use it. I do zone focus on the street. However, when I have used it on the V, I have been quite satisfied with it. I hope this helps and is not too vague as this type of decision is really very personal. Regards...Wayne

@TheZachMendez

Thank you so much for watching! I’m glad you found it useful! I would say the X100 is definitely “pocketable.” However, if you add the adapter/filter combo on the lens to finish the camera’s weather sealing, it becomes much less so. I wouldn’t really call the X-Pro pocketable, but it is very easy to travel with. It’s super compact when you remove the lenses, and you can just throw it in a bag with a few lenses without worrying about the lcd being scratched. Neither of these cameras take up much space.

If you remove the Fujifilm hood, will the original X100V lens cap fit onto the Fujifilm adapter including the filter that weather-seals the lens? Thanks for watching! I didn't have any issues with the battery life. What I have heard is that the camera is good for 350 shots when using the EVF, or up to 420 shots when using the OVF. I haven't really counted shots though. I typically always go out with a spare battery just in case, but I don't always have to use it. Also, you can charge the camera with a USB C cable (included) so you don't need to carry around a wall charger. When traveling, I found it nice to just bring a few batteries and not worry about an extra charger since my iPad uses a usb c charger and I always have it with me already. Hope this helps!

Hi there! Thanks so much for watching! It’s hard to say! If you want the ability to have two primes at the ready, I would go with the X-Pro3 and that way you could shoot with the 16 on one and the 56 on the other. That would also give you a backup camera that uses your XF lenses. If you’re not worried about all that, the X100V would be a nice everyday camera that you could pickup without worrying about which lens to use, etc and just enjoy shooting. Hope this helps! I LOVE the X100V! I don't own it anymore, but I really want to buy it when it gets a little bit cheaper. You're right, the ND filter and leaf shutter make it so enjoyable to use. Thanks for watching!

Absolutely the best solution to weather seal the x 100v and it’s one piece and as you said it allows you to use the original silver Fuji x 100v cap perfectly snug and it doesn’t come off easily

These cameras are rated for dust, humidity, and low temperature, but not for direct rain. They're fine in the rain if you're using an umbrella but they shouldn't get rained on, or snowed on either.

Living in in Northern Norway with long cold winters with lots of snow and icy rain i can say the x-pro3 is very solid and can handle any weather thrown at it!

@@haeskenhoff That's good to hear, but beware that using it in the rain voids the warranty. Love Northern Norway btw, such a beautiful region! :)

I've not managed to watch this all the way through yet but interesting so far. Two points both cameras are based on a Rangefinder design, I thought they were viewfinders until someone pointed oit the difference. You wre not completely objective in comparing the shutter sounds, the XPro3 was switched to the Mechanical Shutter, the Electronic shutter is also silent. I have been trying to talk myself out of buying an X100 model for some time now...I don't know how long I can last out!
@TheZachMendez

I go though this on a daily basis haha...should I keep the xpro or get an x100 instead? Can't justify having both right now but I want them! The x100 has some nice features that the pro is lacking (silent leaf shutter, nd filter, better 23mm lens option) but I love both! Thanks for watching! :)
@js9204
@js9204 3 жыл бұрын
It was absolutely objective. The mechanical shutter has to be compared with the mechanical shutter for the comparison to be objective. The electronic shutter of the xpro3 must be compared with the electronic shutter of the x100v. That is objectivity.

@@TheZachMendez it ist not just nice... it is insane. Thanks to the leaf shutter you can use the built in flash in daylight and get impressive results... my main reason for this camera. Such a small package and everything is built in.🤩
