Jota is the most natural finisher at the club. He is a stone cold killer. If he wa fit the last 6 weeks, Liverpool would probably be comfortably in pole position for the league.

Jota has been elevated to near 'Robbie Fowler status' mainly because Salah, Nunez and Diaz have been woeful.

@@user-dv4bm2pk5e How many assists did he have in that time without a goal? Something Diaz hasn't added to his game and it's usually a stat that implies a forward who makes good decisions something Nunez hasn't added to his game. Jota hits a ball better off his weak foot than some forwards can pray to hit on their preferred. You're right, he has a bad injury record for a lot of different reasons and after none of them have we questioned whether he's lost something from his game (like people did with Diaz). Liverpool are just a better and more effective team when he is around.

@@user-dv4bm2pk5e I asked how many Jota had in that time he didn't have a goal? I was comparing Diaz assists to Jota and Nunez decision making to Jota. But you tried reading, my mistake for the grammar. Are you saying Nunez makes good decisions and don't try and pretend Nunez hasn't played more minutes than Jota. Yeah I did try chatting with an idiot an got dragged down to your level

Also with jota..he understands the offside rule!! Nunez doesn’t. The way he check himself and leaned back onside before running onto ball was brilliant..no if he could just teach that to Nunez..we had one big miss & 2 offsides..guess who the player was 😂😂

Great show lads, really enjoyed that chat. It didnt have the breathless energy of some earlier wins with hilarious madmen like Kev and Johnno, but that's totally understandable at the moment- I think people are repressing their feelings and feeling the tension a bit, with the way things have gone recently. But a great crew, and a great watch- nice one.

Trent and Jota both deserve credit, but it's Gakpo, who was MOTM IMO 100%. Movement, coming inside, deep, outside, running with the ball, creating danger. Deserves to be given his moment. UTR. ✅️👍✌️

When you see the quality and maturity and experience of the players coming back (Salah looks broken, but so did VVD, but next season hhmmm) Its a miracle the season has been this much fun

The Neil Jones tweet ?? Deal in Facts first. Jota first 13 games of season yielded 4 goals, no assists. Then he is injured from Dec 3 , till Dec 26 missing 5 massive games. He returns for next 7 league games, scores 5, with 2 assists.He as been back for 2 games, missed the an simple goal V palace the easiest of all 4 chances that game, and scored today. So that 10 goals 22 league games . He as not scored a goal that won 3 points on its own. By Contrast Nunez has played only 502 more minutes that Jota, scored 11, as 9 assists and as won on his own 6 points

Agreed, I love Diogo but he is bizarrely over-lionised by fans, in strange ways, and always compared to the other players. His missed chances are rarely referred to, unlike the other forwards - he had a couple today that Darwin or Mo would be slaughtered for. I wonder if the cause of this is that he is out injured a lot and whenever he is out, he automatically becomes 'our best goalscorer' in his absence, Everytime one of the others misses a chance it's like 'Jota would have scored that. If we lose points it's like 'if Jota had played we'd have won that' and so on. Now I have no problem with fans overstating a player; it's what fans SHOULD do, with every player. But when it's done to denigrate the other players that's when it becomes a bit gobshitey. The worst thing, however, is that you know that eventually he will have a sustained run in the team during which he will have a goal drought and a lack of form. We know this will happen becauseit happens to every player at various times im their career. And then the same fans who once lionised him will turn on him and it won't be pretty. We know this will happen because it has happened to other players. Generally fans are twats, is really what I'm saying ;)

What a load of shite. Did we look better without Mo when he scored the winner against Brighton? Or when he had 10 other attempts at goal. Did we look better when he put Diaz clean through against City? Or when he put Szoboslai through at Old Trafford. We wouldn’t be in a title race if it wasn’t for his goals / assists this season. Unfortunately we live in a world where knobheads will sign on to the internet to throw any player under the bus instead of supporting a legend who has been out injured.

Jota does make different runs to the other strikers, but his habit of running directly at defenders is fairly low percentage, and he was having a frustrating game in that respect and was more often than not the player guilty of giving up possession too easily when better options were available. It's a difficult one really, I'm not completely convinced but my boy Nunez has lost a little bit of confidence in the last month. When previously I think he'd just been unlucky for the most part.

To paraphrase Harry Hill, 'Who wins between a rabid dog and a wolf?' FIGHT! Actually the Nunez animal analogy is closer with a headless chicken. A rabid dog is controlled by an external agent. The headless chicken is controlled by its own blind panic. The Jota comparison is closer with Folwer, not as athletic as Mane. Maybe not as deadly as Fowler but can stick his arse out and defend a ball. Wily, not unlike King Kenny. If anything though thought Jota bought the free-kick for the first goal but it was a thing of beauty as very few like TAA can execute.

Thing about Jota that differentiates him from our other strikers is not that he’s more skilful or talented, it’s that he nearly always makes the keeper work, or possible make them lead to a mistake like pushing the ball out to another forward from a save. He knows where the goal is.

You are spot on. That’s why in his last game before Afcon against Newcastle we posted the highest xG in premier league history when he tore them to shreds. I’m also sure he was at Afcon when Arsenal battered us but like you said we play much more fluid without him. Clueless clown
