I'm a recent subscriber, late to the party!🙈 Am a motor mechanic myself and a fair weather cyclist on a giant defy 1, but wouldn't dream of tackling this type of work, even though I bought a bike tool kit thinking I was a great fella. !! I've got a Mongoose Title pro xxl bmx and the frame is pro with entry level parts so the wheels are loose ball cup and cone bearings. One of the first things I did was strip, clean and regrease the bearings. They spin so fast and smooth now.

I have some sturney archer hubs on my track bike, I swapped out the steel bearings for some ceramic, coming from a skateboarder, ABEC for bearings means nothing, I’ve had abec 1 that have been insane and abec 9 that have been useless

Top notch! Interesting re ultrasonic - mine lasted around 10hrs and gave up the ghost, thankfully not catastrophically.

I have had problems removing screws on older bikes end up using angle grinder to flatten the head then use pliers to take the rest out ( t-shirts size XXL)

I only run my ultrasonic cleaner for 5 minutes at a time, not overnight 😂

its on a timer, we run for 10-20 minutes a time, we'd planned on running it & coming in the following morning to wash the parts off, but that didn't work out! lol

I haave a couple of questions which I hope you can help with. What solution are you using in your ultrasonic cleaner?? Also in your vids to spray the bikes with a silicone spray does this not contaminate the rotors and so cause brake squeal. and finally what press/extractor kit are you using for removing wheel bearings? Great vids.

Water based degreaser or soapy water depending on which one we use. I avoid the rotors with the spray and even if it does dust then it’s gone after the first pull & I have so many presses and extractors I have no idea what each are, they tend to come from various wholesalers at various times.

@@Bikespeeds it was the one you use to push out the wheel bearings I was interested in. I have been able to find any extractors small enough for 15 , 12 and 10mm axles.

Hello! Im really interesting in the way that you extract the bearings, I know that you use the VAR bearings pressing tool, but that parts to extract the bearings doesnt come with the bearing pressing tool right? Wich brand and model it is? Thank you

I honestly can’t remember. Most of these tools I’ve had for years and they’ve been brought from various wholesalers over that time. I have loads of random tools. I like my tools!
