I've got the exact opposite; push press hurts my shoulders like a bastard, strict press seems not to. It's right at the catch too; it just feels like shit's gonna tear. Finally back to 225 OHP this week woohoo! Last time I did push press was pre covid with like 255 and it felt awful...

Oy! Instead of Bengay for your joints and muscles try Tiger Balm followed by DMSO, works in 2-3 minutes. Also, you can drink Dmso, mixed in juice, about 10-15 drops for inflammation or body aches. 👍🙌🏻

Brom. Why not do some overhead carries? I do carries for stability, and in fact I believe I cant stabilize without a lot of training. Also, how bout you ask Duffin to talk about zero drop shoes, or maybe Doc Horshig? You ever ask Mrs B to squat tips for other women? Still one of the best channels. Really like your book.

I know Jeff C catches a lot of flak but he really knows his shit in regards to prevention,rehab and stretching. I can tell you this one here worked like magic for me to fix my sciatica that I would get after DL day when I started bro. I also used another of his for tennis elbow to fix my right arm. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/er2deqSjtqjYdn0.html

hey Bromley, thanks for the awesome content, wanted to ask - is the main lift variations changeable in the book programs like bullmastif and 70s powerlifter? The approach intrigued me but I got the impression that I HAVE to do things like board presses and pin presses, as you don't state that they can be swapped otherwise.
@ryanklaassen21242 жыл бұрын
I asked Bromley this on Instagram a while ago when I ran 70's powerlifter, did not finish it due to a injury playing up and covid striking again, his response was:"All the programming is just an example and requires your own tweaking if you run into a wall." I believe the pin and board presses are in there for the peak phase because partials and pauses are more absolute strength specific. So I'd say yes you can but stuff that helps overload a movement like a partial or stuff where you have the generate force from a deadstol like a paused variations good to utilize whilst peaking for max strength.

That would be wayyyy too much volume for me to progress in strength
@AlexanderBromley3 жыл бұрын
I think you are underestimating the amount of volume you can handle. Too much weight is a common issue with lifters but too much work almost never is.
@ekku19793 жыл бұрын
@@AlexanderBromley Maybe most people can handle the volume. I just stated that I can't, or can but it has no return value in regards to better strength levels. I did loads of volume for years and progressed at a slow pace. I was admittedly dumb and listened to other peoples' advice blindly. My joints (left knee is the worst) can't handle too much mechnical stress in the form of too many reps. In recent years I've focused on the basics and finally started to get stronger much faster and with much less injuries. I'm also stronger now in my 40's than I was in my 20's
@AlexanderBromley3 жыл бұрын
@@ekku1979 I feel you. joint tolerance is an important factor when it comes to volume; I've had to keep it back at times where I've had injuries or inflammation issues. I go out of my way to harp on the volume point because I see a lot of lifters shocked at 'high volume' workouts that are really not. This was how every one trained up until 10 or so years ago when powerlifting got popular and brought in a lot of novices who immediately started hyper-specializing early. I did 3 pressing exercises and 2 supersets for 3-5 sets each: it's a really mediocre amount of work for the upper body. If something like that didn't lead to growth, there was 100% an issue with your rate of progression (too heavy too often) or your caloric intake (which is the most common). But, there are no bonus points for doing all the programs and it sounds like you've found a pace that works for you. That's what matters.
