Roy was the epitome of Ferguson’s United. Two strong characters. A fallout was probably inevitable. What a player.

Ze TheGame They won the final without their two best players. In 2008 only a John Terry slip saved us. And after 1999 we were knocked out in the semi in a shock result. Both teams were great. But Roy was the difference. He would have eaten up the soft middle of the 2008 team. Barca wouldn’t have beaten United in 2009 had a peak Roy Keane been there, it wouldn’t have been close.

This is a man who continually criticises other players, including ex-Man.-Utd players. Sir Alex was a man who could get a group of fairly average players to win the league, his last league title for example. He was also a fine player (171 goals in 317 games), people forget this. Keane was an amazing player but made all the better under Sir Alex. But it seems he cannot handle the 'fair' criticism from a great man and he conveniently forgets the praise he has been given by Sir Alex. It think Keane is too big for his boots and cannot take what he dishes out. Sir Alex is an absolute legend and this is coming from a life-long Liverpool fan.

@Ze TheGame what a load of pish, man United were a rich club in the 90s, the magic of the treble side was the fact that they were a star studded team of mainly youth talent, not that they were an overpeforming team. Vieira would not have replaced Keane anyway, he had a completely different role in arsenal, your making wide generalisations here, without focusing on the sheer individual talent of each player. You said it yourself, skill is what wins games, and thematically man United side had some of the most skillful players in the world.
@barryb90
@barryb90 3 жыл бұрын
@Ze TheGame mate, he wasn't an attacking midfielder. He was a box to box early in his career where he went forward. He changed to defensive mid which balanced out the team big time. He was a PFA winner and Ballon D'or runner up. Stop taking shite as if he was a bad footballer.

Roy said in another interview that the players brought Sir Alex success. That's true, but one can also argue that Man utd is nothing without Ferguson. Just look at utd during the last 8 years after Ferguson retired. They haven't come anywhere near winning the premier league title since dispite spending over a billion pounds and sacking and hiring managers.

Great player, one of my all time favourites but Keano isn't doing himself any favours. He just comes across as bitter and over the top. And Fergie wins again because he's just making Keane look like a disrespectful misery guts whose let an old man get to him. If Keane was cool he'd just say it's all in the past. He got too big for his boots on MUTV with that banned match analysis and he had to go after his flare up with Carlos Quieroz. The really annoying thing is that Ferguson was one of the few people who stuck up for him after Saipan when he got thrown out of the Irish World Cup squad, he seems to gloss over that in his constant vitriol of Man Utd.

I think Roy has bought into this Caricature of himself-playing the role of this brooding,enigmatic Footbal sage..And I think he did the same on the field,his strength was being a Midfield General inspirational& Leader(When he concentrated on playing his football,he could match up against most midfield players in the world at the time-Amazing Engine&output)but he seemed to decide to adopt this so called Lunatic hardman persona(some of the challenges/fouls he committed were embarrassingly Awful&that they would have looked at home in a Sunday Morning Pub side)..So here we are,somewhat of a contentious character who revels in being Argumentative&controversial..

Abid Rajah I beg to differ. Cristiano Ronaldo would probably totally disagree with you. You probably couldn't have managed Roy Keane for 5 minutes and Sir Alex managed it for 12 years. Regardless how would you, I or anyone else really know the real human side of Ferguson?
@BeatPoet67
@BeatPoet67 6 жыл бұрын
Ferguson was one of the greatest managers in history. Management is all about knowing exquisitely how to deal with individuals and groups and the subtle bonds between the "I" and the "we". To be a great manager you have to be supremely human. If he'd been "totally lacking" as a human he'd have won nothing. He left a title winning team in 2013 and they almost disintegrated the next year. We didn't realise how good he was. Neither did he.

Will Roy Keane and sir Alex Ferguson please sort this out. I watched Brian Robson my hero that man inspired me to play football. Then I saw ince he tried he failed. Don't get me wrong he did a job But you keano are next level. Go see the great man before he dies and lead us back to where we should be. Please Roy Keane come home

Sir Alex got sick of him because he was a no talent grub. When he thought he could back chat Sir Alex, the great man retaliated by depriving the bitch of his income. Simple as that.

I always love him for snapping Alf Inge Halland legs in half. How I did love to see United player do that to a city player now.
