Fulltime Vanlife around Munmorah on the NSW Central Coast, Australia

After deciding to move out of the Ourimbah State Forest due to excessive traffic, I wake up in a carpark near a main road.
This day I visited the Munmorah State Conservation Area, dropping in to Munmorah Lookout, Wybung Head, Frazer Beach and Snapper Point. Snapper point was by far the most interesting area in the park to visit with a few ocean slot canyons, multiple caves and even a blowhole.

About me:
My name's Jason. I worked as Mechanical Engineer until mid 2023 when I was made redundant. Never one to miss an opportunity to have more fun in my life, I decided to move out of my house and started living full time in my self converted Ford Transit campervan. I pass my days mountain biking, bush walking and generally exploring the beautiful natural attractions that Australia has to offer.

Great vid Jason. I love the colour of your van and your door sill shoe rack idea, will steal that one. Sorry to hear of the rough night, certainly an area well known for testing out built up rigs. Amazing cave! Love the dinner view shots. You seem like a really nice chap, up for adventure. Thanks for sharing them.

Thanks you, glad you enjoyed it! I love the colour of the van too, even though I really wasn't sure exactly what colour I was getting when I ordered it 😂 All I had was a paint code number and internet searches were turning up multiple shades of blue....

Hi Jason, new subscriber here. Have been catching up with all your travel videos and enjoying them. I must say the bike ride is thrilling and an adrenaline rush even from the couch 😂. You recorded some great footage eg. The mini blowhole and being so close to the cliff edge and rocks. You’re so courageous and adventurous. Look forward to the regular uploads.

Free camping in Australia is a nightmare. Australians get a great deal of pleasure out of annoying other people, it is their main preoccupation. They love it so much they will go out of their way to do it.

Snapper Point looks like a beautiful area. I like how you put the names of the places up on the screen, can you keep doing that please 😊 the lake looked like a nice spot for a fish , great views too.

First time seeing one of your videos as it just popped up on my feed, It's interesting to see this kind of lifestyle - I have lived on the Central Coast for 9 years now (West Gosford). will be checking your Norah Head lighthouse video next Although I live in a house as I am right next door to a small shopping centre, I also get woken up by a 4 am refuse vehicle !

That part of North Coast is well known for yobbos. Beaut area, great coastline etc but alot of unemployment, and rough areas.

I enjoy catching the train from strathfield to New Castle. Scenery and waterways are great to see anytime. Norah head is beaut.

No trick to it I'm afraid. Worked hard for many years, paid off my house and now it's rented out. I have a very tight budget from what's left of the rental income.

How much does it cost you to live this lifestyle a month or a week?

I'm on a maximum spend per week of $300. I don't drink alcohol or smoke, so save there, plus I don't eat out. I also need to be careful how far I drive each week as fuel can blow that budget real quickly!
