Thanks for the video. I did the exact same walk you did, at George's Head, a couple of months ago and even parked in the same sort of area. Have always love that walk, and it has improved a lot over the years. I tried to put a link in the comments to a website that I thought might be helpful to you but KZfaq seems to delete my comment when I do! Not sure how I can paste it. It's nothing malicious! I'll keep trying.... park4night is the website so maybe google it Anyway commiserations on having to sit still for a week.
@MakingStuffGoingPlaces3 күн бұрын
Found the park4night website, thanks Tony. I'll try it out. I've used Campermate in the past, but they've taken off all those spots that aren't official but you can get away with staying there. So not very useful anymore. It is a nice walk around there. There's supposed to be some gardens of bushland behind Chowder Bay that I didn't get in to. Do you know if there's anything worth seeing in there?
@Tony-ep7jh2 күн бұрын
I thought the website might give you other possible options. It seems to be fairly up to date and people comment on the parking areas which can be useful. Hope it helps. You can never have enough resources. Regarding the gardens behind Chowder Bay, I assume you're talking about Clifton Gardens, as in the suburb? The walk continues around Clifton Gardens, hugging the coastline, and is just as spectacular with loads of beautiful angophora trees. It eventually takes you all the way around to Taronga Zoo. Prepare yourself for the stink of money in some parts thought!
@MakingStuffGoingPlaces2 күн бұрын
@Tony-ep7jh yeah, Clifton Gardens sounds right. I did see there was a fair bit more walking trail to do. Might be worth a wander one day.

That walk is pretty stunning 🤩 was one of my favourites in Sydney. It really does showcase all of sydney harbour if you can combine it with the ferry. As an aside I think KZfaq comments posting has been having random issues. There are so many reports of people giving up on making comments because of this. So you may actually have more comments than you think but they were lost due to people unable to post. Not much you or anyone can do really. Could be a blessing for you haha otherwise you wouldn’t be able to catch up!

@Tony-ep7jh I'll keep that walk in my list of things to do at some point. I notice many weird things with the comments on KZfaq. Notifications don't always appear for me and while I like to answer all comments (for now...😊) there are some that slip by as I just don't see them.

Enjoy travelling to places while watching your videos. Thanks for uploading. I totally agree your point to take longer routes to avoid paying tolls. We live in the Hills District but work at the North Shore. In the beginning of the introduction of M2, I'd use the toll in my morning drive, but as their toll increased dramatically, I stopped. By the way, you mentioned in this video and some previous videos that you don't enjoy staying in one place, so the need of staying at your Mum's for a week would drive you crazy. However, you also mentioned in the past that you are renting your place to support your vanlife. If you don't mind me asking, did you buy that place just for investment purposes? Or you were able to stay there for more than a week at one point, but later, your preference changed and can no longer do so? I do envy your ability to enjoy vanlife, I'll continue to watch your videos, but dare not do it myself, because I feel it's not safe for a female to do solo vanlife. Your view?
@MakingStuffGoingPlaces3 күн бұрын
You know, there are stacks of solo women out on the roads. I probably see more women than men. I know I tend to highlight all the hassles I have at night, but I do also say if anyone has done anything directly towards me. Sounds you would be similar to me in that you would be hyper aware of what going on around you, which can make you nervous, but also is a good instinct that tells you when you should move on. Lock your doors at night, be prepared to move if not comfortable and use common sense....you would be fine 🙂 My house situation is complicated, but before I retired in Aug last year, I was living in my house. I've had vans since 2018 which I used in weekends and holidays and that's what convinced me I could make a go if fulltime Vanlife. At the moment I just want to maximise everyday, and being in a house doesn't satisfy that desire. 😁

@@MakingStuffGoingPlaces Yup, you got it, I would be hyper aware of what going on around me, and that would not be an enjoyment feel for me, so watching your videos is the safe way for me 😅 Yes, I'm aware of solo female on the road, I'm just too nervous 😬 To be able to retired and live a fulfilling life is gold 👍🏻 One of my former colleagues retired when she was in her mid 50s, I asked her why so soon, she explained, "Because I don’t want to retire when one of my legs is already in the coffin." She did have a point, and I heard she and her hubby bought a caravan and drove to different states, which they enjoy very much. While another colleague, in his 70s, still working strong at our company after 45 years. I wonder if I would dare to be like my former colleague or be like this 70+ years old colleague 🤔 (I was told by 2035, Australia's retirement age would be 70 🤯)

@GiGiWellness28 everyone's different when it comes to retirement plans. I enjoy a lot of things and work was holding me back....hence I'm now very happy. 30:00 That rock carved fish seems to be inside a bigger fish 🐟or could it be a map to point where the fish was? 😹 I've been enjoying your adventures and appreciating the variety you bring to them (haven't been able to watch several though 😓)... I'm glad to see your content getting more attention, well done Jason. I'm also writing because I saw that late 🍨at 13:54 and the 🫐 muffin 😜Why did I notice those especially when I haven't been able to keep up with most of your videos? It's probably that synchronicity weirdness everyone talks about coming back with a vengeance 🤣 I've listened to Matt Walker (sleep expert) in a science based podcast (HubermanLab) and other nutrition/MDs podcasts. This might be useful: - carbs/sugary stuff later in the day induces hyperglycemia (potential trigger for diabetes) and prevents restorative sleep (sometimes falling asleep) - if you still crave sugars at night, have something with fiber first and then mix the sugary foods with pure lemon juice, cinnamon or even raw blueberries - they blunt the insulin spike - dense foods have the opposite effect, e.g. legumes and vegetables need to be fermented by the gut = carbs slowly released (having a can of beans and vegetables in hot water might not trigger dopamine, but you'll end up sleepier for sure) - having caffeine in the afternoon, electric or overhead lights, pure water, intense heat/exercises before bedtime induce waking up - getting late sunlight and cooling down the body (e.g. taking a hot shower or putting your feet on warm water) induces sleep - early sunlight (first 30 minutes) after waking and avoiding late afternoon naps regulates your circadian rhythm, improving sleep - for noise outside, earmuffs over earplugs These are the essentials: I've adjusted several of my habits based on them and sleep improved significantly, that's why I wrote that earlier comment (months ago? I apologize 😅) Hope this helps and somewhat compensates my lack of commenting in previous videos, but damn, I didn't expect to write an essay here, I'll shut up now 🤐 Keep up with the great 🚐life journey 💪
@MakingStuffGoingPlaces5 күн бұрын
Not sure about the fish. A lot of the carvings were very faint and the wet rocks made them harder to see. I can understand you not keeping up with my video's. 2 long videos per week is a lot to watch 😁 And thanks for sharing your info on eating. It's funny, most days I have been having ice cream at lunch, but ran out the day before 😂. I can't say I ever see significant changes to my sleeping habits no matter what I try. Probably the biggest improvement for me is just to sleep if I'm tired, so daytime sleeps are not an issue for me anymore. I probably only have one 2 or 3 times per week and usually only if I've done a lot of exercise in that week, but seems to work well for me. Stress was my biggest issue for good sleep and even though I didn't think I was actively worrying about things, when I looked at what was happening in my days, I could always correlate difficult situations with poor sleep. Not so much oof an issue nowadays, but there's still a few black clouds hanging around 😂

Sydney is very fortunate to to have all those National parks within it, that and the waterways is what makes it a special city. Is that barracks area where the quarantine station used to be? Lovely to see the view again (for me) across to the city, always loved the area. Bit too busy nowadays, though where you were seemed almost deserted! I'm sure it was around Dobroyd there used to be shacks right on the cliff face but they eventually moved the people out (or they died off). Imagine having that view daily, year long! None of the tracks seem to be looked after carefully these days, not getting the funding I guess :(

Great sightseeing, Bluey-well done! About six months ago, we were staying in our van at Lennox Head (Northern NSW). One early morning, I woke up to find a local council ranger putting warning notices on the windscreens of several vans, including ours. I quickly ran across the road to speak with him before he drove off. I mentioned that there were no "No Camping" signs where we had parked, but he informed me that the signs are posted before you enter the precinct, and that's considered sufficient. Wow! When you think it's too good to be true, it usually is.

Thanks Mark. The big advantage of a slide on camper is that you can take it off and go 4WDing to get into some difficult locations. I think for places in NT and WA, that would be a plus....however..... The van uses far less fuel, 10l/100km versus 12.5l/100km for the slide on. This was fantastic with marvellous scenery - your photography is excellent I could imagine a calendar (or three plus) full of stills from this video! Plenty of land and sea wildlife too which is of great interest to me. Well done and keep them coming. Also amazed at your stamina after these long bike rides and adventurous hikes to rock pools and rock climbs. Thanks for these many inspiring views of NSW coastlines and scenic areas - I've really enjoyed all your recent videos especially since only just becoming aware of your channel. Cheers!
