Great sightseeing, Bluey-well done! About six months ago, we were staying in our van at Lennox Head (Northern NSW). One early morning, I woke up to find a local council ranger putting warning notices on the windscreens of several vans, including ours. I quickly ran across the road to speak with him before he drove off. I mentioned that there were no "No Camping" signs where we had parked, but he informed me that the signs are posted before you enter the precinct, and that's considered sufficient. Wow! When you think it's too good to be true, it usually is.

Yeah, good point. It's the same on the surf coast in Victoria. Big signs saying welcome to Torquay and underneath....no sleeping in vehicles 🙄 At least they were giving warnings. I've seen them putting flyers on cars in Huskisson and also had a ranger come for a chat in Melbourne.

If you get time go up to Barrenjoey and have a look at Palm beach. There's a really nice walk that goes up to the Barrenjoey light house and when you get to the top the view is spectacular, looking back back up to the central coast. I know that area really well as I spent the first 30 years of my life there. Its a beautiful place will always be home to me where ever I am. Loving your videos.

With all the restrictions ever increasing, no parking, no camping, no this no that. "The liberty deniers". Good you can still find places to stay. Lived in Sydney for 10 yrs, never realised there were such pleasant locations. Nice footage, keep enjoying what your doing.
@MakingStuffGoingPlaces

Thank you. It is hard with all the rules but I guess, even with those rules, there are still people that mess these places up. If everyone was well behaved there wouldn't be a need to restrict places for all users. As you say though, there's still plenty of opportunities for us 😁

Another good episode Jason. Seeing you do Awaba MTB park in the past few videos, inspired me to go for a ride on it. Tell you what, I don't remember it being as hard as I found it on this ride, compared to when I last rode on it (some 3-4yrs ago). Goes to show how much your fitness drops once you stop being active. But I've enjoyed it nonetheless. Cheers.

Sydney is very fortunate to to have all those National parks within it, that and the waterways is what makes it a special city. Is that barracks area where the quarantine station used to be? Lovely to see the view again (for me) across to the city, always loved the area. Bit too busy nowadays, though where you were seemed almost deserted! I'm sure it was around Dobroyd there used to be shacks right on the cliff face but they eventually moved the people out (or they died off). Imagine having that view daily, year long! None of the tracks seem to be looked after carefully these days, not getting the funding I guess :(
@MakingStuffGoingPlaces
@MakingStuffGoingPlaces Ай бұрын
Yes, the quarantine station is just below the barracks. I didn't go as it was a long walk and the rain was a bit on and off. There are some old shacks down on the cliff face at Dobroyd. You can see them from some of the lookouts but not sure how you get to them. Would be a nice view but the weather would be pretty wild!😁

Bunnings have great ‘child proof’ locks that bend around corners in various sizes and they are super strong. I use them to keep quite heavy drawers closed. One word of caution is they are so strong the sticky bits are almost impossible to remove. I’ll try and post a link to them. Cheers, Deb

Thanks Deb. I actually already have that style of latch on there but the problem is I need to manually latch it....hence I forget. I need to have another look and see if there's one that latches when the door is closed, but the other issue is I have very little space to fit it. Might need to make something 😂

30:00 That rock carved fish seems to be inside a bigger fish 🐟or could it be a map to point where the fish was? 😹 I've been enjoying your adventures and appreciating the variety you bring to them (haven't been able to watch several though 😓)... I'm glad to see your content getting more attention, well done Jason. I'm also writing because I saw that late 🍨at 13:54 and the 🫐 muffin 😜Why did I notice those especially when I haven't been able to keep up with most of your videos? It's probably that synchronicity weirdness everyone talks about coming back with a vengeance 🤣 I've listened to Matt Walker (sleep expert) in a science based podcast (HubermanLab) and other nutrition/MDs podcasts. This might be useful: - carbs/sugary stuff later in the day induces hyperglycemia (potential trigger for diabetes) and prevents restorative sleep (sometimes falling asleep) - if you still crave sugars at night, have something with fiber first and then mix the sugary foods with pure lemon juice, cinnamon or even raw blueberries - they blunt the insulin spike - dense foods have the opposite effect, e.g. legumes and vegetables need to be fermented by the gut = carbs slowly released (having a can of beans and vegetables in hot water might not trigger dopamine, but you'll end up sleepier for sure) - having caffeine in the afternoon, electric or overhead lights, pure water, intense heat/exercises before bedtime induce waking up - getting late sunlight and cooling down the body (e.g. taking a hot shower or putting your feet on warm water) induces sleep - early sunlight (first 30 minutes) after waking and avoiding late afternoon naps regulates your circadian rhythm, improving sleep - for noise outside, earmuffs over earplugs These are the essentials: I've adjusted several of my habits based on them and sleep improved significantly, that's why I wrote that earlier comment (months ago? I apologize 😅) Hope this helps and somewhat compensates my lack of commenting in previous videos, but damn, I didn't expect to write an essay here, I'll shut up now 🤐 Keep up with the great 🚐life journey 💪

Not sure about the fish. A lot of the carvings were very faint and the wet rocks made them harder to see. I can understand you not keeping up with my video's. 2 long videos per week is a lot to watch 😁 And thanks for sharing your info on eating. It's funny, most days I have been having ice cream at lunch, but ran out the day before 😂. I can't say I ever see significant changes to my sleeping habits no matter what I try. Probably the biggest improvement for me is just to sleep if I'm tired, so daytime sleeps are not an issue for me anymore. I probably only have one 2 or 3 times per week and usually only if I've done a lot of exercise in that week, but seems to work well for me. Stress was my biggest issue for good sleep and even though I didn't think I was actively worrying about things, when I looked at what was happening in my days, I could always correlate difficult situations with poor sleep. Not so much oof an issue nowadays, but there's still a few black clouds hanging around 😂

I'm thinking of travelling around Oz in a couple of months .what would you recommend mate a van like yours which looks amazing or a hilux with a slip on camper on the back like you use to have ?? Any suggestions appreciated . Love ya videos too
@MakingStuffGoingPlaces
@MakingStuffGoingPlaces Ай бұрын
Thanks Mark. The big advantage of a slide on camper is that you can take it off and go 4WDing to get into some difficult locations. I think for places in NT and WA, that would be a plus....however..... The van uses far less fuel, 10l/100km versus 12.5l/100km for the slide on. With the money you save in fuel, you could hire a 4WD....it kind of depends how often you want to go off road. My choice was to stick with a van. Much nicer to drive and cheaper to run.

I kind of agree with you. I don't like watching that stuff but when I looked at channels that are far more successful than me, that's exactly what they show....and a lot more than I do. You have a look and see how many start with a montage of coffee making.....that's generally where I switch off! 😂 If you look back at my older videos, I focused only on the outdoor content and nobody watched them....so I'm afraid meals and bed making are here to stay 😁

@MakingStuffGoingPlaces it's your call, but I wouldn't count on it being why ppl watch your vids, a short , here's my brekky, etc and then move on to narrative with scenic vid would surely work. Granted, many vids, camping, vanning boating do contain meal times, but is an area that can be trimmed to enhance the main content, 😀

@MakingStuffGoingPlaces
@MakingStuffGoingPlaces Ай бұрын
I've never tried to sleep there, but looking on Google Street view, there are no signs saying you can't park overnight. You would need to check that in person as Google's images may not be up to date. Also, I can't see anything on the Waverley Council website that says you can't. Personally, I think it would be a terrible place to try and sleep. There'll be so much passing traffic!😊
