at 14:48, may I ask why do we need the clearance between the stopper & the link?

Checking on the brake. Should you find the next day that the link touches the stopper, it means that the brake doesn't hold.

Captain's holly war. Stopper designed to sustain dynamic load while at anchor. You should take load from windlass brake using stopper.
