Just now watching these videos and I have a few questions. I was wanting to switch from Army to AF on the Officer side but didn’t want to lose the infantry (the wife doesn’t like the long field days). My question is how long can a TACP Officer stay operational and what’s the advancement opportunities on the Officer side in TACP. I have heard they are cut off from mainline AF Command because they are usually attached to Army units. Last question what are the liberties you are afforded during TACP School House and the new FTU? Such as can spouses live with you like they can at the Q Course, do you get weekends off, etc? Thanks for you informative videos.

For the people who wear glasses, once after basic training are they able to start wearing contacts or do that have to stick with the glasses provided until you fully complete the pipeline ?
@FunkyBunkley

I appreciate you brotha! And I'm not entirely sure. I know that you used to have to wear the ones given at basic training, but once you get to TACP Prep you can just wear whatever you want. I know there are some parts where they may not let you wear contacts for safety, but I'm not certain when that is. Sorry for the vague answer, I'm just not familiar.

Just discovered your videos and they have been really helpful. Was planning on going RASP for a shot at ranger regiment, but I was always interested in the TACP mission set. My one question would be how hard is the mental portion of the pipeline, for example dealing with radio frequencies? I'm getting my body physically there but would kick myself for getting dropped on the mental portion.

Hello. I was wondering if the radio and other equipment training throughout TACP is technical enough that it could be used as a career post-military. In other words, do the radio and other related skills good enough to get a job in that related field (engineering) or maybe even get a college degree in radio or communications engineering after military. Thanks!

Great videos, Mark. What are the most recent attrition rate numbers for TACP preferably by age group? For example "x% for those that entered at 18-20 yrs old", "y% for those 21-24", and "z% for those 25 and older". If you don't have hard data, your guess is sufficient. Thanks!
@FunkyBunkley
@FunkyBunkley 3 жыл бұрын
That’s something that I’d have to get back to you on. When I was instructing there, the 18-20 year olds were hit or miss. They lack the maturity than older guys. The 21-25 year olds do good because they’re still young enough to be able to recover quicker and they’ve got a little more maturity. From 25-32ish you’ve got adults, but it’s hit or miss if their bodies hold up, and anything over the guys really have to focus on staying healthy and being fit being their biggest issues.

Hi there funky, I am currently in the process of cross training and I need to take my initial PAST for my re training application. With that being said, what are typical numbers you see from people for the cals to be considered competitive. I am currently in the high 70s for push ups and sit-ups and usually do about 15-19 dead hang pull ups when I test myself. I know the numbers on the PAST sheet are just the minimums, I know the more the better but I am just curious if I am exceeding the standard or just meeting it and need to be doing more. Hello Mark I’m an AD enlisted Airman submitting for the Jun 11 2021 TOPT board. When would you do your PAST test for a package? I can pass all components with some wiggle room now and will keep getting stronger as I get closer to the due date for the board. Are there numbers to hit and you’re ready to submit if you can hit them? I do not want to wait until the last minute even if I might squeeze out some more reps. I also want a solid PAST test before I ask my squadron and group CC for their endorsement which will take time even if I write them myself and ask them to sign. Any wisdom? Thank you for your time. Ben

Good numbers for Phase 1 package are: 70+ PU 70+ SU 9 min 1.5 20+ Pull **the PAST is go/no go, your performance throughout the week is far more important. Focus more on 1-2 hour high intense PT.

I was never a SOF TACP, so I'll probably never get around to making one of those. But I'm familiar with how to get selected, and it's fairly simple. As soon as you've made it through all of your training, you can then go assess to tryout for special tactics. Special Tactics TACPs support Army Special Forces, the Ranger Regiment, or SEAL teams depending on what Special Tactics squadron that you'd get selected for. On the other hand you have the bulk of the TACP career field that supports conventional Army units.
