Metal Distance I really can’t answer on that because I was blessed with very good senses so I passed seeing and depth perception with flying colors.

God Bless them all ! My youngest son is almost finished with his TACP training and I am just praying he gets through it because he wants it so much. He had 40 in the beginning and they are down to 8. You better want it. He has worked his ass off and it’s still tough. But man can I see a difference. Unbelievable.

I had a coworker tell me I should look into TACP back when I was like 18 because I enjoy working out and I was thinking about military. 6 years later, graduated from college and work full time, but I still find these type of videos interesting. Great content!

When I was going through Army Combat Medic school in San Antonio we had an Air Force PT instructor come over and do an "Aerobics" PT session with us. We laughed at the news... Eventually, we cried at the pain...

True that if you're Combat Arms you will go through one of the CA squadrons at BMT. However if you're not CA you might also go through the CA squadron....which is an experience...

Hey man, I think TACP is the job for me, but I’ve heard from a couple guys that TACPs aren’t deploying to combat much since GWOTs cooling down. Is this true? I know SOF TACPs are still getting after it but I’m curious about “conventional” TACPs. Thanks for the video!

You take the past before you ship for bmt, if you pass the past test then you get a special warfare open enlistment contract

How much does the swim proficiency matter? Are you able to go through with glasses? I don't currently have a driver's license but will I still be able to got though?

Currently the only swim test for TACP is to jump in and ditch your gear. To my understanding, you’ll swim a bit in prep but TACP doesn’t currently do a ton of swimming

Now you have to do a lot more than the past. They added SWCC in the last few years. Still no combat dive like CCT though.

Cleared hot is a clearance call to release ordnance from an aircraft.

I got out after 7 years…. And I am successful in civillian life. But I miss it. I miss my boys. I’m in the best shape of my life and want to push myself. I’ve been thinking about joining TACP in the guard/reserve I’m rated 100% for PTSD and minor injuries though. I know I can keep my disability if I join the reserves, but I know I will risk losing it in the long run. But I value self purpose more. I’ve been conflicted. But I want this…. Idk why I’m leaving this comment.

Darion Hester they are instructor led events, you just have to keep up with the instructor. The eval specifically says, “keep up with the instructor”. Sorry for being vague, but that’s all I can give.

I was an instructor in the 350th SWTS, and when I was there I was just lucky enough to get a slot and go. Right place, right time really. From what I’ve heard they’ve haunted freefall slots for conventional TACPs.

For the prior service guys retraining into TACP I've heard you take the PAST and then they send you straight to TACP Prep. Is this true? Side note, already went through SERE as it was required for my previous job (aircrew) and I actually was with the guy on the far left at 5:04, he's a PJ!

No, if you are cross training you will go straight into TACP Prep.

As prior service, you will be going straight into TACP Prep. You won’t have the option to go to Special Warfare prep, as it’s just for guys/gals coming from basic training.

I’m not too sure. The only thing that I know is that they will give you a waiver for depth reception, but it’s just a longer process. From what I understand you can’t be color blind or have terrible eyesight but I don’t know the exact requirements medically.

I plan on becoming a TACP Officer after I graduate college next year - will OTS be similar to enlisted special forces where I get personalized PT?

Air Force OTS is a course that will be required to become an officer. If you’d make it through that and go the TACP Officer (ALO) route, you will need to access for that as well. If you get picked at the ALO selection, then you would attend the same TACP pipeline as all of the enlisted.

Very possible, but TACP Officers need to meet the physical requirements and go through a week long selection to become an ALO.

Thomas Lee when I joined, I didn’t really know what I was doing. Both TACP and CCT are great jobs, but I don’t regret how things turned out. And the swimming was initially the reason that my recruiter pushed me for TACP.

Special Warfare Prep just recently tested putting prior service candidates through their course recently, and I am uncertain if they are going to keep doing that or not.

I was diagnosed with sports asthma as a kid. It never bothers me. Just don’t say anything about it when you go to the recruiter.

1996, 6 week course, 4 or 5 in a class room, 1 or 2 on the range (brain is abit fuzzy on the time line) Basic PT 3 times a week....no sere, no CQB, nothing outside the norm. UK army, 18 yrs served. I can never understand the US forces putting you guys through what is essentially SF training. If we get into CQB, somethign has seriously gone wrong. We are force multipliers, not hostage rescue.

Special Warfare Prep does, but it’s not evaluated (not a pass or fail event). Also, at the TACP Schoolhouse you have to jump in a pool with all of your gear, ditch it, and swim to the side of the pool. 😆
