I’m starting to think it’s not an act… considering the state of things it wouldn’t surprise me if they all fight with depression or anxiety or have a tendency to dissociate, or even suicidal thoughts. Look, if any of you feel like you need someone to talk to, even to the guys in viva la dirt league, you can come to me if you feel up to it, I know it can be excruciating to even bring yourself to talk about the things your dealing with with someone you care about, likely much more so to a stranger. I don’t judge, I’ve caused pain to others I can’t forgive myself for, I’ve been wrong by others and can’t bring myself to forgive them, I’ve been broken for so long and it’s to the point I’m an amazing listener… but I don’t know how to truly talk one on one. I can’t seem to bring myself to speak, because I hate myself and believe I deserve every bit of pain I go through… my name is Justin Holdren. Leave a comment in any of my videos to get in touch with me or add me on facebook messenger. I’m the guy with headphones on holding a big fish

The roleplaying sketch with Brit and Ben is honestly perfection. Many gamers retreat into games to live a life they want to live because of their own mental health issues. You'd be surprised to know how many of your online gaming friends are suffering silently in their every day lives. This does a great job to pull back the curtain.

Totally this. The team I game with for the last 2 years are quite open about it where they have issues and particularly with socialising and communicating in real life. Not all do but those who do are valued and appreciated in part because they are real about their struggles and we understand that. They are the only reason I still play bloody Raid Shadow Legends!

Yeah me too! I’m French and used to live very near from Paris at the height of my depression. I don’t remember how many times I was tempted to jump on the tracks of the subway when I was in college or right after losing both of my parents. Still not in a good place at the moment but I guess the medication I got helps. Yeah that first sketch is so accurate. Thanks to the team for all of these! If only it could also show people not dealing with mental health issues how it feels like. I guess it does but they’ll only see them as sketches I guess.

Magic kitten dispels depression, anxiety, ... Okay. There is often some truth to that. Particularly if said magic kitten has a large personality and is heavily bonded to the individual having issues. We can only hope for the individual to form multiple additional bonds and support. Social animals are ment to be social. Even the antisocial from time to time. :-) ? Wait. Did Ben fail to spend quality cuddles time and feed the kitten in the morning? No wonder he had a bad day.

I'll heartily concur that having a loving pet can do the world of good to your psyche. I know that I was really down and depressed from losing my job, fiancee and all my future plans, and when a little kitten adopted me, he really helped me to carry on and cope. Sure he nips my nose from time to time, and I've usually got at least one scratch, but that's cats for you 😉

I like how in that skit, they weren’t really making fun of the people with mental illnesses but more making fun of society and how they don’t take mental illnesses seriously. This was meant to be funny but also I opening. Showing how maybe we need to start thinking how certain things may be harder for some then others. Really trying to understand one another and help one another as well.

To be completely fair, eveyone is scared. People who don't have mental issues are afraid of losing their friend, who's probably never shown them their weaknesses, to this monster of sadness, anxiety and fear that their friend are posting in front of them and calling it with the same name of the same friend that for years, having hidden all this, seemed more happy go lucky and ok with his personal life. People are scared because losing a friend to depression and crippling anxiety is bad for both parties, so most people just try what their brain tells them would world for THEM, but clearly not for their friend. They're simply too focused on themseleves, in a non negative way, to notice how their "helping" isn't working, subconsciously speaking. That's why they "don't understand" most of the time, because they try to, but deep down they still can't. Not eveyone can. But that's where you draw the line. If they start being toxic, and when confronted they choose to deliberately ignore the effects that this "help" is having on you, dump them. They'll eventually come around with an apology and some better understanding skills, or they won't come around at all.

And I mean... look at Ben, you'd think the guy is all happy. Buff, good looking, successful. He clearly gets those emotions from somewhere. It is not something you can learn unless you experience it. Same with Rowan in Simon Says. You can learn to show certain emotion and act it out, sure. But if you've been there and have acting talent you can replicate it.

I promise, things DO get better. You do have to keep on fighting. As a badge I've got says, "Survive out of Spite" 😉 if nothing else 🙂 I spent many years struggling with myself, but with time, you learn that you do have worth and meaning, even if it might be tough to see or accept sometimes. But if you keep going, you have the opportunities for your life to improve, sometimes exponentially. 🙂 Keep going bud, and chin up. Keep working and one day you will realise that somehow, things HAVE gotten better, and that you are actively happy without realising. Good luck and be stubborn, remember, you are worth it 🙂

You all make funny sketches that are just brilliant, but these sketches are what truly make Viva La Dirt League special. Everyone goes through phases of depression it different ways. It's not something that goes away entirely, which is what makes it hard to deal with. Thank you all for everything that you do and the compassion that comes across to all your fans.

When I clicked on this video, I don't know what I was expecting. After watching it, and relating to many of the skits, It just feels wonderful to once again have a reminder that I am not alone. That one feeling, that one thought, has always been the thing that has held me back in life. It has encouraged me to open up more honestly to my therapist and to seek out others like me. Thank you Viva la Dirt League, for all that you do for me and for everyone else.

For a channel that delivers so much great comedic content, you guys hit way harder than you have any right to, lol. I love the range of emotions and how genuine you all can be portraying them. Even more amazing, is how quickly you can swap between them, like Ben and Fireheart. The juxtaposition makes the emotions feel so much more real. I can also only imagine that at least some of you deal with these issues yourselves, and the skits are all relatable. I definitely felt the introvert one and internet overload. The number of things I've written out and then deleted because I can't figure out how to press send and put the vulnerability into the world.

Thank you all for making these skits. For people who might not even know that they might be struggling with mental health, these shed some light on knowing that maybe it’s not a normal thing to feel these ways, maybe we need to take a step back and focus on our self. The emotional roller coaster of the videos they can inflict on a viewer shows that these are for better understanding and help. Thank you again everyone at VLDL.

My school pays people to come in and do these sketches about problems like vaping and bullying, which are much less prevalent than issues like mental health problems and are often not even applicable to our lives. I've spoken to some of my friends about this and we all agree that they actually make us feel worse, especially those of us who struggle with mental health. I would gladly watch VLDL instead of whatever they're giving us.@@robertnope1993
