i recently visited oland from the US for a couple of weeks and loved going to the ICA in lottorp to buy fresh produce, the vegetables, strawberries, and different flavored creme fraiche were my favorites. except this ICA had a hard time with my credit card since it doesnt have a pin number and i also didnt have a swedish passport! i just ended up taking out a bunch of cash to make it easier for the kassan. but swedish supermarkets are so fun! i miss a lot of the food i had there now that i am back home.

Now if the Swede asks me "var det bra så ? or Är det bra så ? " Which literally mean "was it good like that? Is that good?" I would scratch my head ; What's good ? Was the shopping experience good ? Why are you asking me this ? instead of something like "Är det allt ?"

I spent three weeks in Sweden this summer and when I returned I was so so so sad to not have Fil in my fridge when I opened it in the morning. Big sigh and acceptance of the situation. I really loved the fil with muesli and/or kuddar and jam every breakfast...Tried to replicate it once I got home but no cigar... Thank you for your videos. I love them - I watch them during my lunch breaks!

Litet tips, man säger "tack *så* mycket". If you don't include "å", you completely change the meaning of the word. "Sa" means "Say" whereas "Så" means "So". Not anything to be upset over though, it's completely normal and I see a lot of swedish learners do this kind of mistake.

Enjoyed the video! Supermarket is one of those words that always shows up in language courses, but it rarely used in the US. I don't know about the UK. I've lived in 9 different states in the US and don't know if I've ever heard someone say they were going to "the supermarket." As mentioned in this video, people usually just use the name of the store, or just "grocery store" or "I'm going to go grocery shopping." Another word is "cinema." My Dutch tutor seemed surprised when I told her nobody says they are going to "the cinema." Normally it's just "the movie theater" or simply "the movies."

It was a bit confusing. You have to insert your card BEFORE you start scanning for the groceries at the self checkout. If you make a mistake, it charges you. One time the items were not being scanned and I couldn't cancel anything. I just gave up. Someone could have used my card to buy anything. It was really bad. I ended up using another checkout and after a while the previous one got cancelled due to inactivity. It was at a Hemköp, which is my favorite one so far. I haven't been to any Willy's, though. I don't even think I've seen one in Skåne.

good video, teacher. I have a question, what´s the difference between ATT KÖPPA and ATT HANDLA?
@FunSwedish
@FunSwedish 9 ай бұрын
Great question! Att köpa can be used for everything since it describes the money transaction in general (köpa hus, köpa mat, köpa aktier). Att handla is more used when you refer to buying things at the supermarket. I would not use "handla" when I talk about buying a house for example.

When you say they need your personnummer if you're a member, do you mean the personnummer that I've heard you need for anything official in Sweden? Or just the membership number?

You need the number that the government gives you
@annar6294

@eliasnybro5151 that's interesting, are people quite happy to give it out then? In the UK people don't even always want to give out an email to sign up to a store membership.
@eliasnybro5151
@eliasnybro5151 9 ай бұрын
@@annar6294 The personnummer isn't extremely secret. I also think that it's more common for stores to ask for your phonenumber and then they'll send you a link to their website where you can use your personnummer to become a member.

When i was in Kiruna for one month i also was in the coop in nya centrum. But i think the cashier was definitely not from norrland :D because he asked and talked more and faster than every cashier i meet in the whole country. Also the locals where slightly annoyed about talking so much so fast above the polarcircle :D "... Hej ... Tjenare ... Bra ... Är det bra så ? Är du medlemmar och har en meledlemmarkort ? Okej ... Bra... Det blir XXX kr ... Tack ... Hejdå ..." and that are definitely too much words for that region :D

First day in sweden I bought the filmjolk by mistake 🥲 it was good but now what I wanted to add to my coffee. Now I know better and I don't make these mistakes anymore. I have my lidleplus app and I always remember to bring my bag. The only problem is that I never recognize if they are asking me if I want the recipt (yes) or a bag (no) and then they always guess that I'm a foreigner 😅 but it's only my first month, I will learn!
