Often, on fursuits, arms end too short because the duct tape dummy is made with straight arms. To get the correct length of arms, you need to measure when its angled and on the outside of the elbow. I do have people include that in their measurements.

Seems to me, the best DTD is one made when the person has their elbows out arms bent all the way in while squatting. This ensure that the joints are flexed as much as possible. Thus, the pattern while have plenty of allowance for movement.

It’s times like this that I’m really, really grateful that both my mom and grandma can sew and both have good sewing machines. Gonna be a lifesaver when I start sewing my fur together. My mom knowing how to sew and make quilts also means she has an appreciation for stuff like this that takes a lot of time and effort, so she’s rlly supportive. (Plus she can help me if I need help sewing lol)

skye, genuinely these help so freakin much man. Ive been a furry for 7 years now and you've been one of the backbones of my whole fursuit making idea thing. I havent made any actual fursuits, only foam bases, but recently ive commited myself to making a halfsuit (head, paws, digi legs, tails, yknow) and i can tell this tutorial is gonna help my ass so much. "Can be handsewn but not recommended due to the size" ((Me: Laughing remembering my last fullsuit digi with COMPLEX markings was 99% handsewn in about a week (all but the zipper, but I hand felled the edges of that too XD) TBH my other maker friends call me crazy but I enjoy hand-sewing! Hehe great tutorial! Don't be like me kids; learn to use the machine and love it (I can use one I just... I really don't know why I don't XD)

This is a great tutorial, very helpful!!! If you did a final cut, I would only ask that you go more in depth on how you did the zippers and the zip-on tail and feet as I am planning on using this method on suits in the future!!

So this is probably something you don't expect to see but I've been working on a making a cosplay of an Elite from Halo and I've been struggling to figure out how I was going to make the undersuit for the armor. ( Still trying to decide if I want the armor to base on the Halo 3 or Halo Reach designs.) This tutorial has now saved me so much pain and for that I thank you.

this seems really confusing but im going to give it my best shot- ill never know unless i try ^^" i made my fursuit head completely from scratch, along with the tail and paws- though i plan to remake the paws since the method i used im not too fond of. id like to advance and make it a full suit and i just today bought the stuff for a duct tape dummy and clothing rack. im going to give it a shot, theres not harm in trying :]

Hello !, is there any way I could get clarification on the neck lining area (where you starched the tag) ?, you mentioned folding it in half after cutting the excess and flipping it over a few times but I can’t picture it in my head and am having difficulty following , I was also wondering if adding the two inches to the arms was something done outside of the tracing phase ?, Thankyou so much for this tutorial !

If you buy a partial to start out is it possible to get the rest of the suit made later? Sorry brand new to the community and still learning the ins and outs of everything. On topic- I love digitigrade it looks so cool

little late but yes! you don't need to get your whole suit made at once :) if you want a partial first and a body suit later that's totally fine! especially reccomended if you're young and still growing as you'll outgrow your bodysuit really quick!

if you want a premade you can go into the dealers den and have a browse, otherwise look at makers you like to see if they're offering any premades - if you want a custom suit, just look for a maker you like and see if they have commissions open :)

Ok so for my sona she has a pair of (aready made) moth wings, they are glued to a peice of EV foam, (i cant get them off i tried) and i want to attatch them to my arms, how would i attatch them in the back of the suit and to the arms to make a wyvern style dragon?
