Here's a segment from the final edition of The Bozo Show for 1981, presided over by Frazier Thomas and broadcast, as always, over WGN Channel 9.
Includes:
"And Now, Back to The Bozo Show" bumper with Bozo, Cooky and Frazier clowning around outside various sections of Marriott's Great America amusement park (voiceover by Merri Dee)
Frazier mentions it being the last day of 1981 and introduces a game among adults (four men and four women in a "battle of the sexes" competition), the contestants on each far end putting a pillowcase on a pillow, taking it out and handing them to the next contestant on the way to handing them (pillow and case) separately to Frazier; and wondering before the game why, in the past, the men have always beaten the women; at the end, Bozo hands the winning team an Uno card game set and a McDonald's $5.00 gift certificate

This aired on local Chicago TV on Thursday, December 31st 1981 during the 7:00am to 8:30am timeframe.

That’s amazing, Rick! I never knew grownups competed on Bozo, and Frazier is downright hilarious. I wasn’t watching Bozo by the time he became ‘circus manager.’ In fact, a close family friend had been in the running to replace Mr Ned. So although we all loved Frazier, our family was disappointed that our guy didn’t get it. Our guy was Bobby Gibbons in AFTRA, real name Bob Gibson. If you ever come across any “Commander 5” video from WMAQ-TV, my brother and I would be enthralled. Bob was a college chum of my parents from their Goodman School of Drama days (along with Harvey Korman) and lived in our apartment for several years. “Uncle Bob” to me.

@@lchaney it's crazy. i remember being in high school and people telling me to enjoy it time flies, heard it again and again I thought it was dragging. At age 30 is when in my opinion it started to fly. Hope all you guys have health, and happiness!

I watched Bozo religiously I even tried to be an at home player sending postcards to Bozo my Bozo I was Joey diauria not Bob bell like my mom watched as a kid

To me, this was the "old" Bozo.....we got WGN in West Michigan (as did everybody nationwide who was lucky enough to get cable TV in those days) and I remember this Bozo being the first one I saw with the gravelly "weird" voice on WGN. Somewhere in 1983 or so, they had the "new" Bozo who had a lighter tone to his voice, I think he lasted for quite a while as that was the Bozo I saw the most during my childhood. West Michigan had their own Bozo, a guy by the name of Dick Richards who worked for the local ABC affiliate (WZZM). If my memory's correct, he was also the Sports Director of the station too. It was a long time ago, when I was a little kid...so my memory might be faulty.

My cousin attended a Bozo show taping and said the set smelled like chicken soup

The station cafeteria was just a few steps down the hall from the studio they taped Bozo in, so maybe they caught a whiff of the lunch menu.

Looks like the men keep winning, because they just shove the pillow into the pillowcase, and yank it out again, as quickly as possible. The women go slower, trying to make it look nice, as they do when they make the beds at home. But nobody seems to know the real trick to speed up the process: fold the pillow in half, lengthwise, instead of trying to shake it in or out of the pillowcase.

Wait a minute… fold the *pillow* in half? I always flip the pillowcase inside out, put my hands in it, then grab the pillow and flip the pillowcase through to the right side. I hope that makes sense. I’ll have to try it your way for fun though!

So, was the studio audience able to watch the cartoon interludes (on some old school TV of the time, obviously wouldn't have been a huge screen to watch it on anyway), or were those just for the home audience (and they were prepping the next game or skit while that was happening?)

Once the show stopped being live, I’m sure they just did the intros for the cartoons and then moved on. Back when it was live at 12 noon I think the cartoons showed on a monitor but then bozo or cooky or the others also kept the audience entertained with banter
