Shmo nailed it. It was stated by the girls in an interview (I think by Soyeon herself) that the album should be listened to in reverse order. The iLove wikipage says the same thing.

Yes, Soyeon herself said the album should be listened from Dark( x-file) - Nxde.

And the album itself put the song in the reverse order. I think the number is about the PRIORITY - priority 1, love what u r.

hey guys! i am happy that you have reacted again to my favorite group. i just need to add that soyeon said that the order to listen to the album would be in descending order. my producer line worked hard on this album. NXDE and LOVE were done by Soyeon, from composition, lyrics and arrangement. Change and Sculpture were composed by Minnie and lyrics by both. Reset: Composition and arrangement by Yuqi and lyrics by soyeon. DARK: Composition by Yuqi and lyrics by Soyeon. TMI about nxde: in korea it is forbidden for pornography, so they take pictures without consent of women in public places, and now when they search for nude it only shows the content of the new gidle comeback, and "idle" in korean means child, so soyeon decided to use the group's influence to make these searches difficult.

(G)I-DLE is at their best when they go the storytelling route so with that in mind, I seriously recommend you check out their 2018 single Hann (Alone) and the 2021 follow-up EP titled I Burn. While it lacks I Love's advantage of being able to be played in reverse while still having a coherent narrative, it does leave room for interpretation as to what the message/purpose of the story is. It's the group's magnum opus in my opinion 🔥🔥

what i love so much about this album is that depending on how you perceive the timeline, it's two vastly different stories. ofc soyeon herself said to listen to the album in reverse order but tbh, despite what an artists wants, their art will always be open to interpretation so i think all interpretations of the album are valid. loved this breakdown!

You should listen to the album from track 6 to track 1 The storyline; Feeling lost -> Finding yourself -> resetting -> loving yourself -> showing your true self (nxde)

In my point of view, I guess both orders work, however soyeon the leader stated that the right way is from bottom to top , but still the storyline is adopted by audience and each person have different perspectives and tastes. And this album really serves everyone taste.
