A very kind recent donation was this G.I.Joe Whirlwind. It's the first vintage Joe vehicle I have ever owned and needed a little bit of work to repair one of the guns that had snapped off. And a little tidy up of the box front.

Realy dig your style of your videos: focused on the process (not you), good editing, sped up editing when appropriate, good clear sound and clear puctture with good camera angles. Also, good instructions with a humble personality. Cheers!

A great fix. The barrels are polypropylene, which gets brittle with age and exposure to sunlight. You were correct not to use Plastic Weld on it - it's one of the few plastics it won't work with. I occasionally see this toy at car boot sales - and the gun barrels are always busted. Nice one.

A trick I’ve found to make bang on accurate center drills in a round piece is to slowly rotate the piece as you are drilling it. It allows you to make micro adjustments as you drill.

On a normal fix that would be easy enough. But not on this one. The inner piece is very hard to work with as you can't see what you are working on. I'm happy with the result I ended up with.

It comes to mind that the ends of the plastic needed to be properly lined up first. Which we didn't see you do. Then also what you could have done was drill a 4mm hole in the gun and added filler (super glue and baking powder) and hold it straight while it dried.

There is not space for a 4mm hole to be drilled. 3mm is the maximum.

Wondered how you would get on with a slightly hidden drilling like that. You did very well. I wouldn't like to have taken that on myself. I prefer to see what is going on all the time. Keep them coming.

To remove pencil writing, its best to first try erasing it with a charcoal eraser, its much softer and gummy and it wont stress the surface as much as a pencil eraser.

I had the Z force version of this. I remember playing with my nephews and using it for extra-judicial courts martial executions.. then my Mum stepped in and got me on war crimes.. ahh, good times.

Pick it off carefully. There are chemical removers but they damage the plastic.

There was no need to drill it. Straight on super glue would've worked.

When there is not a great deal of surface area for the glue to adhere to and a likelihood that pressure can be put on the long barrel extra support is always a good idea. Saves having to repair it a second time.
