G35 Coupe HALO tail lights part 1

Follow along with this tutorial and learn how to install halo LED's in your G35 tail lights. This method works with '03-'05 coupe tail lights. It has not been tested with '06-'07, however it should work the same in theory. There is a lot of risk involved in this DIY, and I highly recommend finding
an extra pair of tail lights to try this on before cutting open your only pair.

Below is a list of tools and materials you'll need to get started. Additional tools may be necessary.
Tools, parts and materials:
Gloves (Mechanix and latex)
G35 coupe tail lights
LED halo rings, 90mm and 110mm (bit.ly/qasimhalo)
Flat tip screwdriver
Phillips head screwdriver
Ratcheting wrench with 8mm deep socket
Wrench, 8mm
Acrylic knife (bit.ly/acrylicknife)
Hot knife OR dremel with plastic cutting disk
Drill with 7/64 bit
Alcohol wipes
Surface to paint on (ie cardboard)
Clear storage container
Primer
Spray paint
Fishing line
Super glue
Butyl headlight sealer (amzn.to/33eDOY8)
Soldering iron kit (amzn.to/2no47vs)
Rosin core solder
Wire strippers
Heat shrink
Various clamps
Diode Dynamics Tail-as-Turn (optional)

Love that you mentioned not to mess with the ridge on the lens when you remove it. I saw a guy pick at it and when he resealed it, he didn’t have a a nice perimeter line. It was all choppy with black spots

Can't you use the oven method for the tail lights as you do on the headlights??

No they are plastic welded so you have to use a dremel to cut the housings

Hey guys, I didn't mention this at the time of upload but depending on the LED rings you purchase you may have issues seeing the brakes or turn signals in the day time or direct sunlight, which is a safety issue. To remedy this, I recommend either purchasing higher quality LED's than I did (Diode Dynamics and Profile by Morimoto both make LED's that are visible in sunlight) OR leaving the turn signal and OEM brake light LED's intact when performing this mod.

@@matthewsanmiguel8599 I used white halos, however I recommend getting the red ones. They will be brighter in the tail light housing.

90mm on the small, 110mm on the large. I would do 85mm on the small if you can find it.

Quick question but what kinda of paint did you use to paint the bezel ?

13:48 I went with Rustoleum engine enamel. It left a really glossy finish, looking back I would have went with something a bit more satin. Really any paint should work fine, I would avoid cheaper stuff as it might chip later down the line

If you are referring to the halo rings, I purchased the ones on video from Amazon however I now use Diode Dynamics halos for all of my installations

@@carlossaravia9201 110mm for the large circle, 85mm or 90mm for the small circle. 90mm provides a very tight fit.

I used white but I highly recommend using Diode Dynamics red halos in 90mm and 110mm. You can use an 85mm as well for the smaller circle, I've found 90mm fits tight and requires some force to get into place.
