I wonder if Brutus would’ve still stabbed Caesar if he knew he would be remembered as one of history’s greatest betrayers?

People often ignore the dilema the senators were in at the time. Romans were very sceptical about the idea of kings and emperors, Caesar was extremely popular, he had defeated the pompey faction and had so much power and wealth that literally the senators were scared to vote against him, this whole structure relied on Caesar and if they wanted to save the republic then they had to do something about Caesar. There is a debate on if Caesar would actually have declared himself as emperor but most assume he would have done something similar to Augustus. There is no right or wrong here nor is there an actual hero or villian. The senators at that time had more balls and character thaan politicians today. They were ready to die for a cause which we never see today. I even admire the quality of Hitler for staying true to his evil ideology. Politicians today will do and say anything to get votes, literally anything.

Brutus also betrayed Decimus, one of the co-conspirators (the first to actually attack Caesar. Fun fact, Brutus didn’t actually help in the murder but stood in the sidelines. He only stabbed Caesar once the fight was over and he was on the ground). Decimus needed help but when he asked for military support to Brutus (whom had fled from Italy), and despite Cicero’s and Cassius calls for him to march to his aid, Brutus did not help. Decimus lost and was killed. At the battle pf Philippi aswel, thinking he had lost (when in reality Cassius leading the other flank was winning) he fled (later killing himself). Cassius which was winning the battle was sorrounded as Brutus forces fled, was killed.

@leonardodavid2842 Some men are just snakes, and Brutus was one of them. Betrayal was his most prominent characteristic.

@@leonardodavid2842 sorry got to correct this. at the first battle (first part) of Phillipi Cassius's part of the battle had lost where as Brutus's part had overran Octavian's camp more or less a draw, in an ironic part Brutus heard Cassius was in need of help and sent the Calvery but Cassius thought it was the Calvery of Octavian/Agrippa and unalived himself leaving only Brutus left, the second battle Brutus would lose and not long after unalive aswell.

I never realized how much the show looked more like a film than a TV show until it was edited with anamorphic ratio. No wonder it supposedly had the highest budget for a show during that time.

I like how he only showed his face to his opponents in the senate once he legitimately had more power than/over them.

The cast was so amazing in this, felt like every character was born to play these characters. Julius Caesar was my favorite character next to Pullo, Vorenus and Marc Antony... And Pasco
