The Tarleton family complain every time a new US high school history textbook is introduced. The US characterisation of Tarleton is rubbish and the family have all the documents to prove it.

There was a bug difference between the New Model Army and the Rescoats of the 18th Century onwards, and that was leadership. The New Model Army waa a,pure meritocracy, later Redcoats were run by Ruperts.

A great movie but nothing like the real events. One major flaw was that Cromwell did not drive forward the execution of the king. He was only one of 59 signatories to the death warrant and had not yet taken political control. The scene of him almost forcing the others to sign has no historical validity.

Britain is certainly a shadow of its former self but it could still stir Vibrance and influence again but it's empire in Imperial age is passed and in this world it very well may always be Athens to America's Rome but it looks like it could have secondary influence just like Switzerland maybe just like Japan but the EU is lost to German domination add now Britain has withdrawn from the periphery.

The fall of Stilicho was the signal for the Roman troops to massacre with brutal perfidy the families of the barbarian auxiliaries who were serving in Italy. The foreign soldiers, 30,000 of them, straightway marched to Noricum, joined the standard of Alaric, and urged him to descend on Italy.

A nonsensical and emotive title to this article; King Charles the second was a traitor to the English Reformed Protestant faith and worked to undermine our constitution - taking a cue from his very evil father, who sowed the seeds of the demise of the Stewart Royal line, for they all eventually favored a return to Rome, but thank God, William of Orange came to our rescue, and kicked the last remnants of that unhappy breed off the throne. Kings are not divine in the sense that they are chosen because of their birth into a certain family; they are divine only in the sense that God has allowed them to conquer a people - like William of Normandy, who had no claim to the English crown other than the sword he brandished in his hand, and God; in his permissive will, allowed a tyrant to assume the throne. The defeat of the nobility in England in the seventeenth century could be an example of God's permissive will to bring just government to the kingdom, but as one of the regicides said on the scaffold, the people chose to go back to their servitude rather than the freedom they had been delivered from. Thank God I say again that William of Orange restored the gains of our protectorate parliament and so it has continued to this day, but an overweening fawning respect for the institution of the monarchy works against the purpose of God in establishing our freedoms.

Colonel Tarvington observes that the Senior Officers are far too busy toasting each other, than taking this war seriously. The Colonel realized that fighting this war in the old manner would only lead to ruin and he was right. There where no civilians in this war. You where either for the crown, or for the patriots. Many who stayed loyal to the crown, had they're land stolen that would be worth tens of billions in today's funds

Cornwallis ....A proud snob who fled like a coward after the lost battle because he did not want to be humiliated when he surrendered his arms during the signing of the capitulation ...Refusing to admit his defeat against Washington and to the insurgents whom he despised, he had one of his officers hand over his sword as a sign of surrender, he was a man without honor like many English officers during the War of Independence
