I actually think that the Azor Ahai and the Prince that was Promised prophecies are 2 different prophecies that have been mistakenly thought to be the same person, but are actually 2 different prophecies for 2 different people. Jon Snow being the Prince that was Promised, bc of Ned promising Lyanna to keep him safe. Dany being Azor Ahai bc of the stone Dragons under a bleeding star. I also believe that bringing the Dawn is actually referring to the act of bringing everyone one together, even after the The Long Night is over. A Dawn of a New Age where customs and laws are made new.

I do not think Martin will finish the books. Have read them all but he added new main characters and plot threads in the last Book, A dance of Dragons. I do not think he knows how to end the series in a (to him) pleasing way, since he does not like happy endings but he does not want to kill off everyone either. Besides he has to many plotlines to know what to do with them in a good way. He will never finish the series (I think), but continue to write prequel stories and going to Comic cons and stuff like that.

Shocking twists were core of Game of Thrones. Not "Arya kills the Night King" twists, but the "Starks get slaughtered at a wedding" twists. Twists are good, they've just been doing the wrong ones. "Night King going for King's Landing or Night King winning at Winterfell" kind of twists are the right kind of twists.

They were terrifying, the protagonists were unable to defeat them conventionally and they were at the point of killing every living thing in westeros. The battle against them was the most tense and exciting sequence I have ever seen. Had me on the edge of my seat for over an hour. If you prefer watching comic books where villain has to fight hero one on one, then fine. But be honest with yourself, you are talking up a film that was engineered to have a happy ending, where the heroes literally get to go back in time to ensure that there are next to no consequences for their earlier failures, in the most clichéd way possible. I enjoy the avengers films, but if people who are dazzled by the big explosions of endgame applied an ounze of critical analysis to it, they would recognise that it is riddled with numerous plot holes and deus ex machina moments, and built on fan service. Now that's fine for a comic book film, it's meant to present battles with no death where good triumphs over evil and everything goes back to the way it was. Game of thrones is a different beast, the magical evil in this story has been a central and significant plot driver, but never the story's focus. The interesting thing about the ww, has been the threat they represented, and how the characters responded to that threat. The story was never going to end at the point where they were defeated, it was never just about that. It is about the character arcs of the people facing that threat. The walkers have had a massive impact on the story, they have affected the alliances of the great houses: responsible leaders really have needed to put aside their political differences to fight them. They have depopulated the North. They have caused a seizmic shift in westeros politics and altered the balance of power. Their threat was never down played, this was literally the biggest battle ever filmed, and certainly the bloodiest. The population of the entire continent has just been substantially decreased. But people talk about the nk not getting enough "personal kills". Strange.

Him uniting the North,having this passionate relationship with Daenerys which lead to her bringing all her dothraki and unsullied plus hee 2 dragons was the most important factor. Also in the battle of winterfell he was the one who fought the NK and managed to knock him off Viserion. If the NK hadnt been knocked off Viserion he would have never been vulnerable enough to die in that surprise attack.

It's so aggravating that the fans literally came up with so many better narrative theories than the pathetic one that involves Arya killing the NK the first time she ever met him, and thus making the Army of the Dead threat against humanity talked about for literally 7 and half seasons last for 1 hour. The writers said they wanted to do something "unpredictable" - YEAH because no one would possibly predict an ending that undermines Jon's ENTIRE plot line in the entire 7.5 seasons, the Azhor Ahai prophecy (don't buy into it being about Arya), the tagline of GOT "Winter is Coming" and literally the theme of the show of that humans have to abandon their petty squabbles for power in order to fight the greater threat to humanity as a whole. While the cinematography and acting was incredible, the narrative was such a let down. If you rewatched the series, you could basically just skip Jon and any white walker related plot lines because it came to such an abrupt and meaningless ending.

Mabuga Master you have a few solid points, especially that white walkers freeze anything they touch like sams sword and that wildlings axe, so how did the night king, the one who made all other white walkers, didn't kill Arya instantly by freezing her or breaking her neck when he can throw a spear into a dragon that's hauling ass in the sky. There were many plot holes not gonna lie, but I did enjoy episode 3 despite some of the bullshit that was in it. I do wish however that the night king had more screen time, there was no major sword fight between him and Jon snow which I was really hoping for. It was a bit anticlimactic but I still liked it.

Should of sent Arya south to assassinate cersei then steal the souther armies to Helm's Deep the big NK battle

But there was a bigger threat coming, the protagonists did need to put their differences aside to defeat it. This is precisely what happened, this is what played out on screen. That great threat has now been defeated, but at what cost? The northern alliance has made massive sacrifices, but is far more vulnerable as a result. Daenerys and Jon have done the right thing, putting aside ambition to save the realm. But will this now cost them? This is what is interesting in the story, there are consequences for decisions, even heroic ones. The series was never going to end with a big battle with the walkers. It was always going to have to focus on the aftermath in detail. While episode 3 may have been the climax of the plot, the emotional climax of the story, of the character arcs within it, could only come at Kings landing.

I still think There’s a bigger plot twist coming... usually the best episode is second to the last anyways This is how I want these last episode to end: I truly want the Night King to warg into Bran or Arya( because *both were touched by the NK) then after the battle between Cersei and Dany. Night king comes out all of a sudden raise the fallen dead at Kings Landing.Then Davos telling Jon about the lightbringer he remembers from the Stannis “prince who was promise prophecy” then having to kill his love one and which end up to be dany to save the seven kingdom. It would be the greatest/ saddest thing to see Jon having have to kill his beloved brother/sister to save the kingdom. JAY KANUCK the Night King did land during the episode

This is how I want these last episode to end: I truly want the Night King to warg into Bran or Arya( because *both were touched by the NK) then after the battle between Cersei and Dany. Night king comes out all of a sudden raise the fallen dead at Kings Landing.Then Davos telling Jon about the lightbringer he remembers from the Stannis “prince who was promise prophecy” then having to kill his love one and which end up to be dany to save the seven kingdom. It would be the greatest/ saddest thing to see Jon having have to kill his beloved brother/sister to save the kingdom. Bringing the dawn could also mean ushering a new era. Depending on what happenes with the throne and how they decide to govern going forward, "bringing the dawn" could take on a less literal meaning.

It would have sucked if Jon killed the NK coz he is the obvious person, he has always been the hero of the show more so then dany so him killing the NK would have been terribly predictable

so now he has a real purpose in the show. Because he will have to have an arc now. He had no art before he was just always a one-note character now he has to decide if he's going to be the king or not. Just makes it more interesting.

I am not saying that jon killing the NK was the only satisfying ending perhaps a payoff to the huge buildup would’ve been nice. Also even if jon doenst fights off NK all the deeper meanings all the little details that meant something was never explained. Bran didnt had a major role (now dont say he knew everything thats why IF that were the case he should say that at the end of the eps like dr. Strange did)

Imagine a scene where John and the Night King are fighting in close quarters and then the Night Kings dragon breathes fire on them both and the Night King just expects John to be killed but instead John is not affected by the fire and just smiles right back at the Night King. Something like that would be very cool to watch.

Yeah.....I don't think so. It's possible. It's not the worst theory I've seen out there....and there have been a lot of bad ones...but I think this is a case of you over thinking this one. This is one of those "minor" detail things, the way the golden company "loses" or switches sides etc..or whatever theory people believe, doesn't really matter. The show will do it one way and GRRM might choose a different way but the end result will be the same. Of course...it will be entertaining, but it's not a major plot point.

@@DuBstep115 Never said I agreed with it. Just that it was possible but I seriously doubt it. I think both of you are missing the main point though. The final three episodes, of course will have a battle, but the main purpose is going to be to complete the character arcs of all the remaining players. We all know Cersei is going to lose, so it really doesn't matter. This is about what happens to the players, not what happens in the game.
