It’s a big hit against gaming industry in general. This was suppose to be an easy slam dunk. But this adds to the number of bad and unfinished games. What’s so hard about selling a finished product? I know alot of people are disappointed with the GTA Remasters but i wonder how much people are looking back fondly with Nostalgia and to what extent these games have just aged badly.

To be fair, a lot of the bugs shown on b-roll are things that were there during the original gameplay too. Like random emergency vehicles driving into important characters failing the mission for you, or how while you are in a "cut scene" with Sweet, someone runs over sweet and he acts like nothing happened. But the biggest slap in the fact is how it clearly received just a generic texture upgrade that made some characters look worse while other things not make sense (like a hexagonal bolt nut being smoothed out into a doughnut shape, which shows that it was a slap on AI texture upgrade).

The most recent demo that did it for me was Scarlet Nexus. The gameplay hooked me instantly so I got it day 1. The industry needs to bring them back

When a remake like Demon Souls is so fresh in everyone's minds, You can't help but judge these companies releasing rushed "remasters" simply for quick cash grabs off their dedicated fans with as little effort put in as possible. The real MVP is Game pass for allowing so many of us to try it before deciding to buy it.

Halo Infinite is amazing. Justin said it well: they found a way to modernise it while keeping its identity as Halo. The only ''big'' problem is the xp progression/battlepass but they are already making adjustment so I am not at all worried. Gonna go play some right now!

There are some options if you get stuck against a challenge that is tough for you. There are challenge swaps that are collectible items that can be either purchased in the store or earned through the battlepass. Those will swap out a challenge so that's pretty chill.

The music is the only thing I ever liked about TMNT on NES. That game was a ball buster for 7 year old me.

I get what Tina was trying to say about betas but I have to disagree. Justin's point is much more in my thinking. How do you charge money for a "beta"? A company wanting you to pay them to pretty much do work for them is absurd. During a beta you are a tester which companies pay people to do. It should never be the other way around.

With regards to mobile gaming: I just picked up a new galaxy Z Fold 3 and I'm trying to find some good mobile games to play, but it's mostly trash, or games I play on consoles. I've grabbed a bunch of digital board games, but other than that, I find it difficult to locate any game that grabs me like candy crush, Three's, or Angry Birds used to. It really feels like a missed opportunity that companies don't design for touch screen controls first because I won't be the kind of person to buy a controller for my phone.

I feel like it’s important to note that the “big car” bug was present in the original GTA3, and you need to go through very specific steps to recreate it (eg: visit the car crusher, etc, etc). Just bothers me that this one bug is being used all around as the main example, when it shows that even Rockstar proper has bugs in their games (decades old).

Interesting to hear Daemon saying that the Saints Row trailer was heavily downvoted. In the future we will only know about the upvotes. "Hey, a million people liked that trailer" will mean nothing, since we won't know if 2 million people didn't like it.

I think "beta" is used solely to sell unfinished/un-polished games, and to lessen accountability for releasing unfinished games. It seems like no games release completely finished. I am sure there are exceptions here and there. I think the industry has trained us to accept the fact that games don't release in pristine condition, or even a playable state anymore, but wait and we'll get there.

I thought the Definitive Edition looked awful since the original trailer dropped. I didn't understand what everyone I talked to about it meant when they said that the character models were updated. Vercetti doesn't even look like the same character anymore. So glad that I have the original VC and SA on PS4.

I'd agree with Justin that it doesn't really make sense that this period before the Dec 8th launch is a beta. Its the full release. To Tina's point about the messaging being there to say they're making adjustments, I mean sure, but they're going to be doing that even after Dec 8th. Multi-player games now days are constantly being updated, things tweaked if they get too hot or overpowered. That's going to be happening all through the games lifetime, so I wouldn't really consider this period before Dec 8th any different

Good episode. Would have loved to have heard a bit more about thoughts on GTA Trilogy Remastered. I picked it up a few days ago after the patches and have played Vice City and San Andreas and have been really far more impressed than all the reviews (especially Metacritic) led me to believe. I've had very few bugs and a lot of nostalgia and good performance on the Switch with only a few frame pacing pauses rarely. The rain seems much more natural since they updated it yesterday I believe. At least from what I've played the rain is nowhere near as distracting. I wish they had waited to smooth the games out but seems they Cyberpunk'd themselves a bit and the hasty launch makes this Definitive Edition not so definitive to most people just by word of mouth. I would agree as I think the original art style has more STYLE and inspiration from the films that inspired especially VC and SA. Anyways I feel like one of the less spoken people who really are enjoying this. I didn't get it at launch, it was a gift from a listener, and I had very low expectations combined with nostalgia so maybe all that is why I'm having such a good time.

Halo: Infinite multiplayer is pretty damn good. I don’t do Battlepasses/Loot Boxes/Microtransactions so its a shame that a lot of cosmetics are locked behind that paywall. I have no intentions of paying for something that should be free. But, it is a lot of fun, especially Big Team Battles.

Beta/Demo A demo is a limited selection of the game in progress, although often a pretty late build, close to complete but still subject to minor change (if released prior to the game's final release). It's a marketing/advertising tool intended to boost sales. A Beta is as much of the game that the developers are ready to release, unfinished and subject to changes, system balancing, additions and still in need of final optimisation. Used to finance the finished product by allowing developers to make profit from an unfinished product, essentially turning gamers into free-game testers for the industry. On a more serious note, regarding the state of the GTA series, and most other 'AAA' big budget titles... Sadly I think it's because the industry knows gamers have short memories, and are so swayed by pretty graphics and marketing that they don't really need to worry too much about quality on initial release of a game. We're (well not all obviously) are a massive bunch of (sadly this phrase is extremely fitting) whiners! Gamers will cry about the death of a developer, the end of a franchise, or that they're done with a studio or a publisher is the work of the devil, but the second a pretty, hyped game appears there's always that group of gamers that can't wait to preorder, and every single one ensure the industry continues as it is and really doesn't need to care to change! I would guess that every vocal gamer making claims about never touching a future game in a franchise or from a studio is absolutely pre-ordering games. If you're patient, mature, intelligent, and experienced enough to understand games are all but guaranteed to release with issues, and hold of until you know the product is fit for sale, you wouldn't ever find yourself needing to whine about the quality of the game as you'd have ensured its working fine when you decide to purchase or play it!!! The problem with gaming is not the industry. It's gamers! And specifically the industry reacting to and taking advantage of the sheer stupidity of a large percentage of gamers. No other industry suffers the embarrassing childish outbursts and reactions gamers give for what is essentially a pointless entertainment product that's just one in several hundred produced in any given year. The industry is the way it is, it's devised money-extracting schemes, and takes advantage of a lack of quality not being necessary upon initial release directly in response to gamers. Everyone wants to blame a developer, or a publisher but for some reason decent, intelligent, mature, hardcore gamers seem too afraid to actually point out who has created an environment that the industry really doesn't need to care or have much respect for its customers. That immature online group and the idiots pre-ordering games, absolutely deserve to be treated the way they are by the industry. Unfortunately, but typically we're all affected. If people genuinely want to encourage the gaming industry to change crying about games online and making pathetic immature claims that you "won't be buying XXX, or from XXX again" changes nothing. Perhaps it's time actual gamers put the impatient, immature outspoken online group in their place. I'll start; if you preorder a game, you're a c*** that perpetuates one of the biggest problems in this industry.

Had to do this comment separately, but in my opinion, the problem with Rockstar is that they bought into all the hype surrounding them and are focused more on $$$ than the actual product like they were when these games in the trilogy came out. How else can you explain trying to release the same game 3 generations in a row? I know the online generates a huge amount of cash for them, but I miss the days of their story dlc. I’m definitely avoiding going back to the trilogy because I know it’ll taint my fond memories of the countless hours I spent playing them the first time.

GTA VC and SA holds a special spot for every 90’s Kid… GTA VC was first ever PC game I played and GTA SA is one of my favs which I have played like 40 Times.. Rockstar have missed to recognise the emotions attached to these games and have been very casual and lazy while working on the definitive edition… Very Disappointed

I think the more recent big mobile game was Among Us. It's on other platforms but many play on mobile I believe.

I don’t think they should be given a pass on this. Even if at the very height at the top corporate said go get the cash what’s the stop corporate from saying that again when we get a big release. Who’s to say the next GTA game the official one they don’t suddenly say go get the cash release it as is patch it later. Who is to say they don’t do the same thing with the next red dead redemption. There’s technically nothing stopping them from doing so. Just like there was nothing stopping them from not going for the cash this time. All we have is our trust in them but make no mistake that trust was violated someone gave the order to let this go and nobody stood in the way not even the people we would normally trust to guarantee we don’t get bogus software released to us Sony did not say we don’t want this on our platform Microsoft did not say don’t put this junk out here. Look at PC the only reason we can’t buy it on PC is because they literally can’t release it.

The problem with mobile for me as a 39 year old gaming since the 80s who grew up with controllers is that the input sucks. I think it’s ridiculous your fingers cover half the screen to use touch controls. And yeah I know you can use a controller for some games but it’s not practical to travel around with. The biggest reason tho is they have already been tainted in my mind as greedy cash grabs so I just don’t bother even looking into mobile games. I’m sure there are some gems (scoop gems) out there but my plate is already full with an insane backlog.

I think the lenses of those nostalgia glasses fell out. The GTA trilogy isn't worse than the originals, it is just showing how overrated those games have always been. I only played those games because they were so janky and stupid. That was what made them fun, not good.
