Warhammer 40K will suffer the same fate as The Witcher if Games Workshop keeps on blaming Henry Cavill

I hope Henry Cavill does leave it. He'll be more beloved by most of us as a guardian of the franchise, not a bystander to it's destruction.

I went to Japan and ended up in a Warhammer shop, I knew of it. My buddy just started collecting and was trying to get me to get some figures. I was hesitant because it seemed a little nerdy and painting that small was foreign too me. I looked in that shop for 15 secs browsing and the the owner came up to me and just started talking about his favorite models he's painted and shows off his massive array of models, he said "you want to try?" a bit of a language barrier but google translate was working its magic. So I tried a paint trial. Ended up loving it and talked about lore for another 30 min, he then said he wanted to gift me a small starter set and a model holder, I told him to save the starter set for later and bought the bigger starter pack (kept the model holder lol). I sat down at the bench and started reading the booklet inside and IMMEDIATLEY 4 people came up to me and asked "just starting?" one from Germany, Austria, Finland, and even a Russian, (Im from US) All of them immediately started talking about different units, species, timelines and the amount of lore the Warhammer universe has. The community is one of the most friendly I've ever seen. Everyone plays a bad guy so they know its all for fun. Now with almost finishing the starter set I think much more will be on the way. I've never understood *any* of this; I was a girl who was into things like the Phantom comics since I was like 8 - never once did I think any of my areas of interests should change because of my gender -- this has all just gotten so much worse, & it's just ridiculous -- _why_ are these people so moronic? I'm hoping they **don't** have as much power in the adaptation (God forbid we end up with a new Rongs of Plop situation) -- & I truly hope that the adaptation isn't wrecked, by all the outside sh^t - I really do want Henry to have a win...

Back in high school in the 90's me and my (guy) friends were into video games, tabletop miniature games like 40k, comic books, etc. Despite that, we weren't stereotypical geeks. We did sports like water polo, swimming, soccer and track, we were honor students in the best gifted program in the state and we had driver's licenses and our own cars. We weren't football stars, but we were far from being losers. AND YET whenever we brought up our hobbies the girls would all immediately check out of the conversation and look at us like we were the most pathetic creatures in existence. And if you mentioned that you played, or were even interested in, D&D you'd instantly become a pariah. Back then girls would walk past hobby/game stores and look at them like they were open septic tanks. So whenever I see these women claiming that video games, or TTRPGs, or comic books or any other facet of geek culture was suuuuuper important to their childhood I can only say "Bull. Shit."

If women wanted women exclusive gyms, shows, sports, etc, nobody would argue. The moment anybody suggest men should have men exclusivy spaces... the world burns.

As a woman; my first experience with Warhammer was just before Corona. I entered the store looking for a new hobby. The moment I entered I was encountered with nothing but friendlyness. They explained the hobby to me and told me about the book. I love sci-fi and when they told me about the books and the best way to start getting into the lore was to read the Horus Heresy. So that day I left the store with a starter pack of Space Marines, brushes, a White Dwarf magazine and a the audiobook of Horus Rising. I drowned myself in the lore and started watching all the KZfaq videos of mini painters. All I saw in this hobby was passion from the people and that's how I always experienced it. I'm also a gamer since I was little and of course sometimes you encounter the nasty people online, but that is also a small percentage we are talking about. I think men are getting demonized a lot of times in this hobby and in gaming, while I experience nothing but kindness from them most of the times. Willing to explain and help. I think it's all about your own attitude and mindset. I love the Warhammer lore, it's amazing, it's a beautiful grey area of good and evil. I think adding romance to it, ruins it, for that you have fanfiction or pick up a romance novel, or even better go out and get your own romance going. Then female custodes, what to say bout that... let's be honest, it was just a broherhood. The sister of silence were the "female" custodes and GW did them dirty. So much lore and models you could have added to them with the new release. We also have amazing range of strong females in Warhammer overall, with strong lore and beautiful and interesting books to support them, like the Sisters of Battle. We don't need female Custodes. We don't need real life politics in the hobby. I want to escape reality, not being confronted with it in my hobby. I think these type of "movements" just split men and women even more instead of pulling them together and enjoy something together.

I have canceled my Warhammer plus subscription because of this shit I will not be paying games workshop unless this is changed.

Henry is just like us in that he genuinely loves this stuff and is watching the shit he loves get destroyed just like we are. The only difference is he is so much closer to it all and even unwittingly becomes used in its destruction by the destroyers because he is just so eager to take part in it. I love Cavill and hate this is happening to him. I hate that it is happening to all of us. Woke-ism is the worst thing that has ever happened to our culture. We haven't had this degree of censorship, re-writing of history, and targeting and alienating people for disagreeing with a single ideology since the cold war when neighbors reported neighbors they didn't like as being "communists" trying to get them fired, ostracized, or disappeared by the government. We are heading back to the same place. The only difference is, this time it isn't being led by the government, it's being led by the Blackrock corporation.

If anything, Henry Cavill was the lightbringer for new fans. Now he's the lightbringer for true fans to leave the cesspit.

These people aren't real. I've been in these spaces for over 20 years as a woman and the worst I've experienced is no worse than I've seen men act to one another. You can't go into a fandom of millions and not expect to find some inappropriate behaviour somewhere. It's literally impossible. Time and time again I've seen my likes and hobbies changed to make them more inclusive, even for my own gender and without fail it worsens them. Every. Single. Time. Never stop gatekeeping. I just really feel bad for Cavill at this point. He really wants to make a good show based on the things he really love (IE: The Witcher and now WH40k.). But he always ends up getting the bad end of the stick. I wouldn't be surprised if changed his main army to Lamenters at this point.

This is my first time finding your channel & I really enjoyed your video. As a female (by birth), I don't have any problems with the way Warhammer is set up. My problem isn't being a female, it's that right now, I simply cannot afford to play. I was looking forward to getting into it, but with all this garbage about retconning things to make females more prominent, no thanks. I don't need to play a game that is a reflection of our society. The fact that someone even thought of or pushed for a warhammer tv show was a mistake period. Did we need it before? no. Were players and hobbyists content with just painting their minis, meeting new people and roll dice with them as their armies clashed? Yes. Did we ever need TV show or a movie now? No. The fact that it was going to become a TV was going to be a big L for fans whether Henry Cavill was producing it or not. When I learned that 40k was going to have a show made by amazon the only thing i thought was, "oh great rings of power in a war torn future." and when someone said Henry Cavill was producing it, my response was "I have nothing against the guy, but he's one person against forces bigger than himself." Anyone who thought that the presence of Cavill was going to keep the show true to lore was only fooling themselves. Never ever give something you love to places like Hollywood, it'll just get warped into something you'll hate later.

I honestly couldn't even watch this video because even discussing the problem that the developers will create in their own universe is a Heresy bigger than Horus to me. Any work, novel, animation, animation, film, where the Heresy will be depicted or mentioned, will be NOT Canon, should be completely ignored, ostracized. Even mentioning "this" on the forums should be strictly prohibited. I say Enough, we will not allow another one to slander and destroy our beloved universe. How to update Warhammer 40k for modern audiences: 1. Remove the war stuff, war is triggering. 2. Hammers are patriarchal male coded, and so are eagles and skulls. Replace with pride flags. 3. Remove the xenophobia. Why is the Empire so xenophobic? Why are the elves so white supremacist? Change it all. Xenophobia is bad and bad things are bad. 4. Bugs are good. People are bad. Tyranids were always the hero faction. 5. Are we committed to the 40k as a millennium? Why not set it in the present day?

From everything I have seen it seems that GW announced female custodes not Cavill. He is rumoured to have threatened to walk away.

Hey Endy, just a quick thing. There actually have been female space marines, but it was discontinued for several reasons. One of them, was that they werent as good as the males, due to the limits of their physiology. And (more importantly) they were subject to much more extreme and often cases of mutations and incompatibilities with the geneseed. There is a theory that one of the lost primarchs was a female, and it was her geneseed that was supposed to be used for female space marines, as the opposite would be the case here (in relation to the first issue), but GW never confirmed (or denied) that theory. Also, a female space marine was almost non distinguishable from the males, with the exception of size. They werent as large, but their musclemass enhancement meant that they looked like the males, in form of bossom, and so on. And since most marines (with exception of the wolves at least), have their genetalia removed, that wouldnt have made any differences for the females. In fact, that was one of the ideas behind the female marines, that because you could remove the baby making portions in their stomach, you would have more room for implants and such. And i apologize for any miss spellings. I am dyslaxative, after all :p

There were no female Custodes, ever ! The canon was pretty specific about that. To change it on a whim to cater to Amazon’s greedy demands for ESG ratings and DEI scores is not only insidiously wrong but downright pathetic. I genuinely believe this "games journalist" lady just straight up made up her story. I was BRAND NEW to the hobby last December and EVERY SINGLE game shop I visited without question was honestly stoked that I was interested and gave me everything I needed and was super helpful and encouraging and nice. I'm reminded of a series called 'Claymore'. In it, there is a group of women warrios known as Claymores, who had monster dna spliced into them in order to make them strong enough to fight other monsters. In that universe, only women can become claymores, men usually dont survive the process or completely turn into monsters or something like that (it was an early 2000s possibly late 90s manga that i only gave a passing glance so i dont know all the details). If that series was introduced today, you can bet there'd be an uproar if they tried to introduce 'male claymores' into the mix.
